Chivalry 2 is already a fairly meaty multiplayer package, but given how the gaming industry is nowadays, what's there at launch is only the beginning. The game's first free update since launch has been deployed on PlayStation 5 and PS4 today, adding new maps, modes, and a whole lot more cosmetic items. This is all being done to realise Torn Banner Studios' commitment of doubling "the size and scope of Chivalry 2 for free", a press release states.

Two new maps can now be selected, one of which is for team-based objectives and the other more suited to traditional team deathmatch and free-for-all bouts. The former is named Galencourt and sees the Mason army lay "brutal siege to the Great Walled City of Galencourt and seat of the Agathian Church." Then there's Courtyard, which utilised the new Arena mode. Three on three battles are judges over five rounds, with the focus placed on teamwork.

Those looking to kit their warriors out in new clothes can also look forward to more than 60 new cosmetic items to earn, including more weapons, armour pieces, and voiceovers. Finally, the update brings back the popular arrow cam from the original game Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. This will attach "a camera to fired arrows making for some truly cinematic action shots".
