Call of Duty: Vanguard has stuck to its promise of premiering the first look at the game's campaign during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2021, and well, it looks like a Call of Duty campaign. That's no bad thing, however. Footage proves that mantling is back from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as well as new indicators and a voice actress. Laura Bailey will play the role of Polina, who is the focus of near 10 minutes of gameplay footage embedded above.
If you want to play the game for yourself, don't forget the Call of Duty: Vanguard alpha test begins this Friday, and will be available for the weekend on PS5 and PS4.

When I heard it was a female lead, I imagined playing as a nurse or something who suddenly finds herself fighting for survival after the hospital she works in is destroyed, killing everyone inside but her. She manages to make it home but discovers her children and their grandparents have been murdered by a particularly sadistic squad of Nazis. With the help of a male Russian soldier deserter, she learns how to use weapons and together they track down the squad who murdered her family, killing countless Nazis in her way. On her journey, she helps people, before being captured and made an example of in truly brutal fashion. Then the deserter finishes her mission. But yeah, it’s just a regular COD game with a female lead. Never mind. I was maybe expecting too much for a COD campaign though 🤣
Another year another COD
@fR_eeBritney That's honestly sounds way better than every other COD campaign, LOL
@SamMR yeah, I get what they’re trying to do here but I feel it does a huge disservice to the struggles women of that era faced (and still face) in a male dominated world. Shoving a woman in a soldiers uniform and having her run around with a gun like it was normal might seem progressive but it isn’t helping anyone really.
But I love me some COD SP campaign so I’ll still play it at some point.
@fR_eeBritney It's sledgehammer games. It's to be expected. Infinity Ward did a better job in MW2019.
Ah, the obligatory and creatively bankrupt WW2 call of duty interlude to keep the shareholders happy with a steady stream of income. Interesting.
A bit overly cinematic for my liking, but looks decent. The gun sounds/handling are well above WW2's.
Hope its trophy list is near MP free...
Trailer looked exciting but sad it's yet another WWII game...why can't we have a game focusing on a more recent war?
