Blazing Strike is a 2D fighting game that's punching its way onto PlayStation 4 in 2022. A throwback to Capcom and SNK classics, this pixelated nostalgia trip certainly looks the part, and we're loving the character designs.
As with any fighting game, going hands-on will be the only way to determine its true worth — but there's no question that developer RareBreed Makes Games has a serious passion for the genre.
This is absolutely a project to keep an eye on.

Fighting games are getting a real revival these days, aren't they?
Hard to tell how good this particular one will be but I definitely love to see it.
@Voltan It really has, before Street Fighter IV came along and revived the entire scene it was slim pickings for a good 5 years. Now we've big sellers from Netherealm's titles, ArcSys Works delivered an incredible Dragon Ball game. Tekken has been it's best since 3, SNK have made a comeback and now some Indies are coming along too.
Hi there fellow gamers.
It´s great to see this game was not abandoned nor forgotten.
I remember seeing some concept art and very short clips of charaters movesets awhile back.
Looks like it will be a very classic, traditional 2d fighting game and I´m here for it. Whishing RareBreed much success.
Cheers, stay safe folks and happy gaming to us all
For some weird reason fighting games don't do it for me anymore. They feel so limited compared to other genres. Tekken 3 was my absolute favourite game back in the day and made me desperately want a ps1.
This looks cool, but I know I'll play it for a day or two and then get bored :/
@Royalblues I'm not playing those myself but I gotta say games like Skullgirls or Them Fighting Herds do look just as cool as some of the "big" ones.
@naruball I used to feel the same way, until I found out I was playing fighting games wrong my entire life, lol. It's more like an intense real-time chess game when you really get into it. Maybe check out some YouTube videos like this one series called "Think, Don't Mash!"
The genre becomes fairly complex, IMHO, once you get into frame data and match-ups. This aspect is a lot more accessible nowadays with frame data in-game for many games, like NRS games and Tekken 7 (through a DLC...dumb, but at least it's there). 100% the most rewarding genre I've ever played, and all I play now. Give it another shot!
Finally a release window for this game! I don't like a lot of the character designs, but the overall hand-drawn aesthetic is right up my alley (don't really care for the style of TFH or Skullgirls, not to mention the sour taste that latter game's scandals from last year).
looks dope! saw this on Gematsu yesterday. hope it does well. character designs look cool.
No native PS5 release is disappointing, but the game does seem pretty cool.
Looking pretty good. Definitely have my eyes on this
This looks pretty dang good! Im excited! Very may well be a day one for me. I just hope that it has an online audience. I just cant play 1 player against a computer like i did growing up. I live for the battle of a real opponent!
@AdamNovice i'll agree with this , tekken's been great , same with sf , and mk.
@stinkyx Thanks for recommending that series, it was great!
I'll be spunking my cash on this! Looks smashing!
hope it gets a physical release
