Who would have expected this? After returning to the PlayStation Store on 21st June 2021, Cyberpunk 2077 managed to become the best-selling PS4 title for the entire month in the space of just nine days. The latest PS Store sales chart puts the CD Projekt RED RPG in first place for both the European and US territories, fending off competition from Grand Theft Auto V and FIFA 21 in second place. When the game was put back on the PS Store, Sony said that "work on the PS4 version continues, with fixes and updates to be released throughout the year". That warning clearly wasn't enough to dissuade interested buyers from purchasing it.
On PS5, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart debuted in first place for both regions. Chivalry 2 also did well for itself, claiming second place in the US and third in Europe. Guilty Gear Strive took fourth spot in the US while Scarlet Nexus can be found in fifth. The two titles performed much worse in Europe, however, taking 18th and 15th respectively. The most popular PSVR game continues to be Beat Saber and Fortnite was the highest-grossing free-to-play title. Business as usual there then.
It's great to see Insomniac Games topping another sales chart, but the big story here really is that Cyberpunk 2077 went straight back to the top as soon as it returned to the PS Store. The game has always been available physically, but clearly, a lot of PS5 and PS4 users were waiting for its digital comeback. Were you one of them? Tell us why in the comments below.

That's mental.
Welp, that was unexpected. I guess hype dies hard.
Remember kids, the company always wins.
Great game. Try it yourself.
The game hard locked my PS4 in April before even playing it when I inverted the Y-axis. Not confidence inspiring...
@ApostateMage I will probably buy it on GOG by the end of the summer. Think that is probably the wisest place to play the game......maybe.
I thought the game was good enough on PS5 but it chugged HARD at times and crashed relentlessly. Solid story and great voice acting but even bug free it wasn’t as good as wild hunt. Crazy people just hopped back on after the initial mess.
Anyone buying it for PS4 now is bonkers. The hardware just can't run the game very well at all. It's not too bad on PC but even there it still needs work.
Glad people who didn't buy day one have the option to finally try it themselves.
Good for them! I've enjoyed my time with the game. Loved Jackie Welles 😂
@ApostateMage I did try it and it's not good. It's just ok at best minus the bugs. That said if the game hadn't launched in such a state I might feel differently.
What is the ratio of GTAV games sold to consoles sold at this point? 2:1?
This was always going to happen in my opinion. Most people probably aren't even aware of the cyberpunk issues as they are not going to read websites like Pushsquare, etc. While I had no problems with the game on either PS4 (just to test) or ps5/PC, I would not recommend buying it for ps4 given how many people seem to have problems.
@DrJames Yeah, I really don't understand how it keeps selling. Who is buying it at this point? I really want to know.
@Eadgar I played it on GOG (I liked it), I had no real issues with it on PC and they get all the cash if you get it there.
Also, it is part of GeforceNOW from GOG now.
So happy for Scarlet Nexus. 40hrs in (but on PC) and loving it.
I would suggest to play Cyberpunk when native on PS5. But glad this is finished - now hopefully they can get to making some Story DLC. I would love to get back into the world.
L O L.
Well folks, keep supporting broken, unfinished games yaas!
I'll stick with my copy of Shadowrun on the Megadrive thanks, it's fully functional and requires zero patches.
Don't know why people are buying it from the ps store it's much cheaper to buy it on disc.
Wow. Not sure why these folks didn't just pick up a physical copy. I've seen Cyberpunk for $15 in some places but oh well. Nice to see Scarlet Nexus do well I just started it this week and so far I'm really into it!
Cue numerous comments of "this game is trash lolz" from people who've never played it
@DrJames I noticed the other day that even though I own GTAV I could repurchase it with different packs. GTAV Premium for example.
So, people that are addicted to its online and Shark Cards may be credited with multiple purchases of the game. They keep buying the bundles that include the game with Shark Cards because they are cheaper than buying the cards outright.
"A fool and his money are soon parted"
@KingPev I played it. It is trash.
I still want to play the native ps5 version later when all the bugs already patched.
@KingPev This is too true.
@KingPev I've never played it... the game is trash.
@Ristar24 you're missing out, shadowrun returns and dlcs are pretty damn good.
@Jaz007 People who was probably to young to play it when it first released. Remember that the game was release 8 years ago. There is a generation of people that are now old enough to play it.
@RubyCarbuncle Got it a month ago. Other than one crash, no other problems on my base PS4. On my second play though now. The game's incredible!
Still waiting for the Ps5 update. One of the biggest disappointments in my life as a gamer haha.
I've bought my dics version for half a price two months back, just because I'm curious. 😀😀😀
Kudos to Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Amazing game.
Also kudos to Guilty Gear Strive as well.
That's all...
Almost got it this past week but ended up getting Watch Dogs Legion + Bloodline/Aiden Pearce DLC which is surprisingly awesome after all the poor reviews and has zero jank. I think I will wait until the PS5 version of CP, which hopefully is coming sooner than later and not delayed.
There must be a lot of digital ps5's out there - that's the only explanation for this
@PhhhCough I played it, was great! Had the SNES game too, but I sold it years back.
@frankmcma I quite liked Legion, plus was interesting seeing how they compressed London, I could get from Brixton to the South Bank in 5 minutes!
I still need to return to it, maybe I’ll finally finish it now that it seems to be okayed by Sony
This is how I know I’m completely out of touch with the prevailing gamers’ mindset.
Hahahaha. Can't wait for the PS5 update myself.
@zanlyons Game's an incredible mess yes you're correct. I suggest you leave it at this as I already made it VERY clear how I feel about this game.
I'm tired of people on here going on about how good this game is when the reality is it's just an embarrassment.
@KingPev I played it the game is pure garbage. Nothing can save it now.
Remember, kids, people who have a clue what's going on in the gaming scene now make up like 10% of the market. 90% are clueless average consumers and teens that have no clue whatsoever what they're buying, they just know the marketing looks cool.
Thus why it seems the companies don't care about us and make inexplicable decisions like killing the PS3 store and releasing half baked mascot golf games. They don't care about us. We're not the market. Clueless people who buy whatever is in front of them and know no better are.
The dude in front of me in GameStop 4 years ago in January that wanted to preorder "that new Wii"... That's the market now.
Maybe gaming shouldn't have gone mainstream after all.
That's a slight manipulation in the title - downloads don't determine sales like that. Cyberpunk is nowhere near Top Selling. Stop lying.
@RubyCarbuncle for the price that you can get the PS4 version for which will get a free upgrade to the PS5 version, why not.
Pretty understandable. Best RPG for the system! The only certainty is: only people who never played are the ones who complains.
As I said other day: I platted the game and I got ZERO crashes… just some minor visual glitches.

(Looks at bottle of whiskey in paper bag)
(Throws bottle away)
@InvaderJim That's good if you have a PS5 but there's still a lot of people who don't. I'm one of the fortunate ones that does so I'll be availing of it. I'm not overly optimistic for it admittedly but I'm willing to give it a chance.
I imagine this number accounts for ps5 store purchases as well since there is no ps5 version of game yet.
