Well, this will go down smoothly. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is the company's attempt at a Super Smash Bros. clone. It's already had one or two tries at a kart racer, and now it's turned its attention to a casual brawler for PlayStation 5 and PS4, starring all its fan favourite cartoons. Hey, maybe it'll be okay!
As you can see in the announcement trailer above, there's a pretty wide range of series represented here: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, Hey Arnold, Danny Phantom, Invader Zim, The Wild Thornberrys — the list goes on. We don't know every single character on the roster, but it looks like the game digs relatively deep. Of course, the stages will also be taken from the shows, with 20 levels featuring locations fans will recognise.
It'll apparently contain single and multi-player modes, with online play for up to four fighters. Each character will have moves to unlock, and you'll also earn bonus content for an in-game gallery as you progress. It's in development across two studios, Ludosity and Fair Play Labs, and will be published by GameMill Entertainment, which also brought us Nickelodeon Kart Racers 1 and 2. Due out this Fall, we'll presumably see more of the game in the coming weeks. What do you think of Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl? Tell us which characters you want in the comments section below.

This looks pretty bad, i’m sure it’ll be fun though
Oh my god this would have been my idea of heaven when I was a kid. Loved the Nickelodeon games on PS2 like Battle for Volcano Island. With Nigel Thornberry in this, your tagline really should have been Super SMASHING Bros.
I get the feeling that this will be one of those games that are so bad that it's good and fun.
I hate the fact that this looks decent, ew
A key component missing from this and the kart games is voice acting. I know it’s probably not feasible to bring back the bigger names like Tim Curry as Nigel for something like this, but SURELY they could scrounge up enough archival recordings to ensure that these characters retain some of their personality? Seeing a bunch of half-baked character models alone does not do much for me. The last Nick game I can remember including voice was Nicktoons MLB which wasn’t that long ago, right?
@jingounchained Excellent point
It looks pretty decent to me. My kids and I will enjoy it. PS All Stars 2 would be VERY welcomed. Don't know why that game got a bad rep. It was good. Of course we don't expect it to be on Smash's level, but still good nonetheless.
Nickelodeon kart? ✔
Nickelodeon smash bros? ✔
What's next? Nickelodeon party? Nickelodeon golf? Hotel Nickelodeon?
I unironically think this will do just fine as a Smash clone.
Playstation Battle Royale could've been good if they just copied Smash's percentage and knock off stage system instead of what they had, which was an atrocious alternative.
Gonna need Rocko in this game. 😁
I can't deny it. I love this idea. The funny thing is there is one chink in Smash bros armor that they would be smart to exploit. It's called proper functioning online play. That's all one of these things need to compete. Oh and not be free to play like Brawlhala or whatever that one from Ubisoft is called.
Really hoping Jenny Wakeman (My Life as a Teenage Robot), Timmy Turner (Fairly Oddparents), Jimmy Neutron (Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius) & Luna Loud (The Loud House) are in this! Also who the heck is Powdered Toast Man?
Oh and dibs on Patrick.
Best caption ever
No Hugh Neutron, no buy.
Ill get it ar the right price.
I am stunned and shocked to see Powdered Toast Man in anything in 2021. I love it.
@JustPlainLoco From Ren and Stimpy
@Floki - Dang I never watched Ren & Stimpy
@JustPlainLoco One of the Ren & Stimpy characters, featured mainly in the fever-dream style commercials that bridge the Ren & Stimpy cartoon features. Bizarre and hilarious stuff.
I can see me buying this me and my kids. It’s nice to see cartoons like Ahhhhhh Real Monsters there.
@SoulsBourne128 ooooooooooooooooo caribou
I love Sponge Bob. So did my son but then he grew up.
I never did...
I only know some of these characters anyway so not for me personally and tbh it does look pretty bad too.
Zim and GIR were all I needed to sell me
They're bring in a lot of character that 90s and early 2000s kids will remember. Leaning so hard on that nostalgia factor with the character rooster... Which is funny considering the target audience probably haven't heard or seen like 90% of the character shown in this trailer. Even the The TMNT designs isn't even from the CGI show or Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but the design from the 90s show.
I'm still interested, but will need to see more gameplay and wait for the reviews.
I miss the 2000's
Waiting for the Squidward character reveal.
Wahbabbaba weeee. This actually has the potential to be pretty good fun if Ludosity the creators of the Smash Bros killer, Slap City, is involved. The Smash community seems to be pretty excited too. The game has mechanics from Melee and uses Rollback netcode. The more I think about it this is going to be the ultimate crossover fighter.
-No Sword fighters
-No Fire Emblem Characters
-No clones
-SSB Melee Mechanics
-Excellent Netcode
Can't wait for the season pass including representatives from Cartoon Network and Disney.
I know it's for the cartoon shows, however I'd like to see Drake and Josh playable.
Would rather have had another "playstation all stars", but at this point, I'm kinda keen to get my thornberry on
@JustPlainLoco powdered toast man from ren and stimpy? Maybe that's a little before your time, from the toons you listed? I grew up with that, "real monsters" and some other shows from the glory days of nick toons.
@J2theEzzo - No Ren & Stimpy wasn't 'before my time' but the airing time for the show was rather inconsistent here in Australia, and I was just never able to catch it whenever it was on TV. Additionally the toons that I did list I listed because they are just as integral to Nickelodeon as Spongebob, Invader Zim, The Wild Thornberry's etc.
@JustPlainLoco well, I used to watch RaS since when I was about 4, and that's nearly a decade before fairly odd parents hit mainstream TV (though I did enjoy it still!), but I'm sure the show was also pushed to the 9pm watershed when it was aired again, due to nature of it being a bit twisted... I didn't see much more of nickelodeon from then on, as I just got into other stuff
