Aloy, the protagonist of PlayStation titles Horizon Zero Dawn and the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West, will soon be available as a playable character in online RPG Genshin Impact. She will only stick around for a limited time, but the machine hunter is indeed on her way. More information concerning her addition will be shared soon, Sony says.
And that's pretty much all we have to go off right now — the tweet confirming Aloy's inclusion is pretty much devoid of concrete details. Still, it's nice to know the update is definitely happening after rumours recently swirled. There is a character overview available on Genshin Impact's official Hoyolab channel, but it simply introduces who Aloy is — long-time fans will already know what's what.
"Eventually she learned that her origins and destiny were deeply tied to the fate of the world itself, and fought an epic battle to save it against the evil forces of an artificial intelligence from the ancient past. She thought that this would be the end of her journey. But there is always more to an adventurer's tale. She has now come to Teyvat in search of a new challenges. In this brave new world, Aloy is ready for the hunt!"
Here's exactly how you'll obtain her:
Phase I
After the Version 2.1 Update – Start of Version 2.2 Update Maintenance (October 13, 2021 05:59 UTC+8)
During the event, all Travelers who log into Genshin Impact on the PlayStation®4 or PlayStation®5 system will be able to obtain Aloy directly through in-game mail.
Phase II
After the Version 2.2 Update – Start of Version 2.3 Update Maintenance (November 24, 2021, 05:59 UTC+8)
During the event, Travelers who log into Genshin Impact on any available platform, and who have yet to obtain the character during Phase I will be able to obtain Aloy directly through in-game mail.

See, Sony do care about the Japanese market! Next, they’ll bring back PS All Stars as a gatcha mobile game and then we’ll know just how much they care about Japan.
@nessisonett This isn't a Japanese game
You're finally pretty, Aleoy.
Wow, didn't see this one coming. Not a big fan of Horizon but Aloy sure is a welcome to Genshin. This can also open up for more guest characters in the future.
@Keyblade-Dan

Great to see a high profile PlayStation character coming to Genshin. Go Aloy!
Love this game. Inazuma is puzzling, mysterious and quite vertical despite being islands. Adventure lvl 47.
One of the weirdest crossovers ever lmao. Thank God you don't have to roll for her cause I want to save all my primos for Baal
@nessisonett genshin is actually Chinese
Haven't touched Genshin to date, but this might just push me over the edge. Cute anime-styled Aloy is something I absolutely need in my life.
I never thought I would see an anime Aloy
Why isn't she at least being added to the PC version of Genshin? I would actually go further and put her on all platforms.
@Ralizah Lol I relate to this so much
@Juanalf read the Article lol. October 21 for PS Consoles, November Mobile and PC
Genshin Impact had great gameplay, but the awful gacha mechanics made me stop playing.
This is probably the first time i've seen Sony collaborating with a chinese game.
As much as how weird I find this crossover, it's still kinda neat and could help introduce a lot of chinese gamers to the Horizon series, especially with the sequel already on its way (which I guess was Sony's intention in the first place).
@IonMagi Ah okay that's more like it although I would add in Xbox, it's free promotion for your character.
@nessisonett If anything I see this as an attempt to get the casual mobile and PC players in China to buy PS5s. Unlike many other games Horizon has been given the green light by the censors so Sony will likely use this to its maximum advantage.
Good news that she'll be free. sounds like you can only get one of her, so I wonder if she'll just have unused constellations or some other way to upgrade her.
Aloy design is cute here, the main game (horizon 2) however..
Why is it that the versions of Aloy that appear in other games look way better/cuter than the original?
The Fortnite version looked better, too.
Hope she gets added to wishes so we can unlock her constellation fully.
I enjoy watching players of these types of games get taken advantage of.
Very cool. Glad it is coming to every platform also. I also have tons of new content to play.
@art_of_the_kill That's what I was gonna say. Her original just does not look good to me.
@art_of_the_kill She looks great in game.
@Salt_AU he's referring to the frequent posts on Reddit that are like "I'm unemployed and just spent $1000 and didn't even pull the featured character".

@orson sounds like you've never played the game, and actually probably don't even have a basic understanding of what the game is beyond it having gacha mechanics and some female characters.
The combat is great, extremely smooth with interesting mechanics around character skills and how best to combine them (not only that, but even regular attacks for characters using the same type of weapon often vary). I can't think of any other action rpg that comes close to the quality of the combat system.
I played about 7 minutes up until I heard that stupid fairy thing started talking and I killed that slime or whatever on the beach. Literally every RPG has better combat than Genshin. Your argument is invalid.
I'd say you're helping prove my point. Here's a concrete example for you, Witcher 3, a generally highly regarded game, has awful garbage combat compared to Genshin Impact.
Great news, never would have expected such a crossover! I'll definitely be catching up on the game now.
@Milktastrophe Ehh it's not that good, I'm not in agreement that its a "pedo sim" but the gameplay is boring and puts me to sleep. It's not the only thing but the fact that it's made to be a gacha and you can get duplicates is what drove me away from the game.
Genshin is a trash gacha, filled with the same repetitive busywork that Ass Creed is now known for. The difference is Genshin expects you to do the busywork every day. I's just another trash F2P game that people gravitate towards because the waifus are made especially sexy-like. Just look at the third comment on this article for proof on how/why Genshin is so successful. Turns out the key was hot waifus all along.
But you can go ahead and show how skilled you are at it by slapping "Not P2W btw" on your profile if it makes you feel cool or something.
@Juanalf genshin impact isn't on Xbox lol
@wiiware If you are talking about that one bad angle check out Twitter and there more then enough great ones.
@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah, I hope it's just a bad angle and her design is the same as the first game.
