If you've been wondering how Aliens: Fireteam Elite is shaping up ahead of its release on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 next month, then you might want to check out this new, uncut gameplay footage from Game Informer. The video shows around 15 minutes of bullet-spraying co-op chaos, and it looks pretty fun.
That said, we're not really sure what's supposed to set Fireteam Elite apart — aside from the obvious inclusion of xenomorphs. At a glance, the title does look a bit generic, and those customised purple guns certainly aren't helping. It's probably safe to say that if you're looking for an authentic, horror-tinged Aliens experience, this isn't really it. Especially when you've got damage numbers covering the screen!
Still, alongside a couple of friends, we think that Fireteam Elite does have potential. Is this co-op shooter on your radar? Keep an eye on the air vents in the comments section below.

The article mentions not feeling like the game is providing horror and to that I say it’s not supposed to. This isn’t Alien Isolation which def took from the first Alien movie this is more the sequel Aliens which is the best in the series so I’m def down for this.
Generic, sure, but it looks like a solid co-op shooter based in Alien universe which sounds like exactly what will be fun for a lot of fans! I’m really looking forward to it!
Looks OK to me and I might give it a go but it would have been better (IMO) if it was a top down Smash TV like game
Please, please give us an option to remove the garish "RPG" numbers and bars above targets' heads. I know this isn't' going for film level atmosphere but, c'mon. Also will probably stick with default gun skins.
@dark_knightmare2 It's more about it not being "horror-tinged" as opposed to actual horror. Obviously Aliens is more of an action movie all told, but it still has clear horror elements and a general tone of desperation. Based on what we've seen, this game is just three players mowing down hordes of xenomorphs without much horror at all. Not saying it's a bad thing, but it's not quite the same tone as the movie, either.
When I think Alien as a video game franchise I don't really thing of a co-op shootemup. Would rather a sequel to Isolation and I am sure I am not alone in that.
@JB_Whiting He said in the video that he actually turned those on, to “game-ify” it. So definitely don’t have to have the numbers!
This game looks like a lot of fun—the Xenomorphs look great! I want to hear more about customization, skill trees (if they exist), etc. Certainly seems to have a lot of potential for major fun times in the Alien universe. This could be my first co-op shooter ever!
@Ear_wiG Ah okay that's good to hear. I agree it does look like pure mayhem; I can see myself sinking many an hour into it with a good team (I imagine it has matchmaking too). I think if you go into it as an Aliens themed co-op shooter rather than an actual Aliens game it might be easier to slip into it.
Alien definitely suits a survival horror game in Alien isolation excellent game.
While Aliens definitely suits a shooter
@JB_Whiting Agreed. For me, it’s got the look and sound of the series 100% down, and that’s so important! If the gameplay is solid too, I can give the “only fun times, no horror” aspect of it a free pass.
I remember the 1st Alien game on PS1 - this looks like it could be good.
@hypnotoad "I got pink 8cid boots on"
Still remember the cheat code
I am going to be one of the few ones here, after watching the preview I am not going to get the game right away.
I am fan of the movies except for AVP. Isolation was such a great game that I wanted another game like that, maybe something with a fresh new story.
@Cyxn1d3 Yes mate I remember, I loved Alien Breed on the Amiga back in the day it was a great game, they even got announced for PS4 a few years back but it never happened (not sure why). Great games and good shout 👍
@Cyxn1d3 No need, there is a whole range of them on PC. Not quite as good as the Amiga originals though
@Stragen8 This. My mate and I are at a bit of a lull with co-op games to play and this looks to be right up our alley. $40 + beer money for a few weeks of some evening gaming with a close friend that is pretty mindless but also set in a universe that we both know and love - sounds pretty great to me. Shooting xenos while we catch up on each other's lives, count me in!
