Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown is out right now on PlayStation 4, and it's free if you're a PS Plus subscriber. The game's essentially a remaster of PS3 title Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, but its visuals have been rebuilt using the Yakuza series' Dragon Engine. Seeing as how Virtua Fighter 5 was an incredibly well received fighting game back in the day, we'd recommend checking this revival out.
Anyway, if you really end up liking Ultimate Showdown, SEGA's already keen to sell you some extras. Available to buy from day one on the PlayStation Store, the game's 'Legendary Pack' costs £7.99 — but it's honestly not a bad price based on how much you get from it.

The Legendary Pack adds:
- Around 2000 character customisation items
- Original, polygonal Virtua Fighter character models for all 38 fighters
- 19 character costumes
- Stages from the original Virtua Fighter
- The original Virtua Fighter's user interface
- 180 music tracks from throughout the Virtua Fighter series
- 40 spectator stamps that can be used online
Will you be playing Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown? Might you be grabbing this DLC? Love those old school SEGA sound effects in the comments section below.

Cool DLC, I'd buy it if the trophies for the game weren't so bad.
It looks like a great piece of DLC, but apparently you cannot use it online so it makes it kind of pointless, especially as the game is marketed as an ESports kind of thing.
So we'll get the remastered graphics for free and have to pay for the retro graphics. How the tables have turned 😆
This is actually good value if you're getting the core game with PS Plus.
@Jeevz Yeah, one of the worst Trophy lists in a long time!
@ThaBEN I knew there was a catch 22 with ps+ the dlc, they have to try and sell that lol
@get2sammyb I haven't even seen the trophy list yet, from the reactions it doesn't look very good 😱😱😲
Lol it doesn't even have a platinum trophy either, trophies are incredibly grindy too!
Okay this is hilarious
@huyi yeah, they're awful. Hopefully someday devs will understand the correlation between better sales and fun trophy lists that include a platinum. There's no reason why this games couldn't have a platinum with all the matches and grinding they want you to do.
I’ll take it. I’ll be putting some time into this game, but man am I rusty at this.
Yeah that trophy list. I think there’s one where you have to do 600 rank matches, maybe. A lot of online matches for sure.
@Jeevz
Do you have any data on the sales/fun of trophy list correlation? I love stats and I'd be curious to see the link.
Very decent price. 100% buy for me as soon as I'm home from work.
@Jeevz The trophy list must be some kind prank, one of the worst I've seen recently. The game is great though, I'm just playing in a separate account.
@Juanalf I've seen worse like that horror online only game with the Halloween Jason character, those trophies are truly disgusting, I don't think I would really invest any time in this virtual fighter 5 ultimate game apart from casual matches offline once in a while.
So disappointed in this re-release has zero content loved the original on PS3 played quest mode for hundreds of hours
I am playing now and the game is good (love the aesthetic!) but the online experience has bene terrible so far ...this will really give those who complain about the Tekken and SFV online experience some context 🤣
Finally, Virtua Fighter V looks like how I remembered it! I was never good at these games, but I've been playing the series since the original in arcades and Sega Saturn.
@RPE83 if the game itself is good, the trophy list probably won't (significantly) impact sales. Take Cat Quest and Reverie, both are similar quality games, similar price, and similar quality trophy lists, but Cat Quest probably has 3-4x more owners than Reverie (from PSNP, but I'm kinda guessing on Reverie's owner count because it has multiple stacks).
What you can do is lookup bad games with easy trophy lists, like anything from Breakthrough Gaming, these games sell thousands from the combination of low price point and easy trophy list. Other publishers that typically have very easy trophy lists like Ratalaika, Sometimes You, and EastAsiaSoft are a little more hit and miss these days with the owner count compared to trophy difficulty. Some of the games with higher sales might because they're actually a good game (sometimes these guys do release good games) or because it's an older title that's gone on sale.
Basically what I'm thinking is that there are definitely some people who will buy games with easy trophies, more people who will buy cheap games with easy trophies, but I don't think it will be easy to prove correlation with people buying or not buying a game due to the fun-ness of the trophy list (as opposed to the fun-ness of the game itself).
@Milktastrophe
That's always been my gut feeling, but I was wondering if there actually was an article that explored sales, price point at time of sale, and percentage of users that platinum title to see where the tipping point is. So would people pay 3.99 for an easy platinum? 7.99? 11.99?
Does the actual gameplay matter in relation for price? Will people pull their own teeth for 5 hours , but not 10 hours for a platinum?
When the OP used "correlation", I was hoping it was because they had something of that nature.
This is really good dlc but...how bad is this game xD For real, I tried it a bit and I get that this is a simple remaster or whatever, but it is by far the worst modern fighting game I've played lol
Went through the arcade mode with a few different characters. Still a great playing game but they need to add Quest Mode back in.
why does it say 38 characters?
@Gamer83 INDEED
Amazing!! Genuinely would have paid three times the asking price for this.
@RPE83 Hey, sorry about the crappy reply I gave you, I thought you were trolling me. I was wrong and I apologize.
I don't have any concrete evidence other than my spending/gaming habits, those I associate with, and what industry folks have divulged on podcasts and news articles. It seems like a bad trophy list can affect a games' sales. Sorry I don't have anything specific to reference though.
