Looks good. I might give it another go on ps5, only ever experienced the day one stuttering framerate version on base ps4. Surprised to see I have the platinum for this so must have enjoyed it

The third party controllers section was so funny to me

All they did for hiding the Xbox and Switch Pro Controllers was remove their labels lol

@Kratos-sensei Honestly my position on Sony putting their games on PC has evolved to they should make a deal with Microsoft to put Days Gone and Horizon on Game Pass.

The whole point of putting them on PC is to make money right? Since that's all that matters no none can make it rain like Microsoft. "But Microsoft is competition" so is Steam so I don't see the problem.

So Days Gone and and Horizon, both better on PC with no native PS5 ports. Thanks Sony...

I'm still playing it on my base PS4 in dip in and out of my 2nd playthrough when nothing else inspires me, its always a blast riding the road

I am truly sorry but I simply don't support this path Sony is taking. Exclusives are the thing that sold the d*mn platform and now they pull this off? Seriously?

@Juanalf Steam and EGS aren't in direct competition with any consoles. The only people in direct competition with each other are console manufacturers. PC's already gotten a bunch of second party Sony content even before Sony started putting their first party games on there

Bend Studios did a great job on the old PS4 hardware. Hopefully PS5 get a similar version.

No one likes this game(according to 'The Internet') I liked it but it does bother me still that this is on PC to now and SONY are wasting PlayStation time on a PC port :-/

It's good to see PlayStation fans making their voices heard when it comes to these PC ports, unlike Xbox fans who just succumbed to Microsoft's PC day-and-date strategy and couldn't even challenge them to remove Xbox Live Gold for free to play games until just recently.

Horizon had mediocre sales as far I know and you think Sony got the message but nope.

To be honest I'm kind of hoping it sells in big enough numbers on PC in order to force Sony to rethink their decision to cancel the sequel.

This is the only potential benefit to porting the original to PC. With HZD the sequel was already in development before the PC port although this has led to a delay in the PS5 upgrade.

I don't really like this strategy, keep the exclusives, well, exclusive.

Come on Sony jump all the way in. Just release all your games day one to PC that way I can abandon consoles. I’ve been tempted with Microsoft’s direction, so, just dive in. If all Sony cares about is money then they may do better solely focusing on software.

@Divergent95 Horizon got mediocre sales because it made all the money it needed to make to be successful on PS4. PC was just them bringing the game to a new audience as an extension to the brand before they announced the sequel, which is still PS-exclusive

Horizon came out like 3 years later and Days Gone is coming out 2 years after it did on PS4. Don't think of this as Sony wanting to actually do multiplatform stuff frequently. They ain't doing this because they think PC should be a second pillar to their business. It's likely they put these games out first because they're games that Sony probably stopped counting sales for on their original platform a while back, whereas Microsoft is literally treating PC like a second pillar to their business like how Nintendo used to have dedicated home consoles and handhelds be seperate from one another

@Divergent95 According to SteamSpy, HZD has to date sold between 1 million - 2 million on Steam after being on sale for almost 9 months, which frankly seems very weak for a game of that calibre. Not forgetting the 30/70 split with Steam on the sale price.

Jim Ryan in his GQ interview said "there was no massive adverse reaction" to the HZD port so they'll continue. I'm thinking... did you even look at your own PS Blog comments or PS community sites like here? Even the polls show that PS fans are overwhelmingly against this.

People who actually don't dedicate their time to championing PlayStation as this super superior platform and get PTSD whenever the word "PC" is mentioned on their press stuff are probably fine with it at large. Hell Horizon on PC got one of my friends who was mostly an Xbox guy to get a PS5 when he can find one

Oh great, a pc release trailer for one of my favourite ex playstation exclusives that probably won't even get a sequel. I hope it sells like crap to discourage Sony with more pc port plans. Unless as another comment said it could help Sony to do a sequel. Having said that Sony bend apparently wanted to make it a multilayer online game, so perhaps a good thing we might not get a sequel anyway.

We even have the ridiculous situation where a game made by a Sony-owned Studio is going to be releasing their brand new game on GP day one whilst charging PS owners full price.

They really need to keep their 'exclusives' exclusive otherwise what's the frigging point?

@TheFrenchiestFry Your arguments are sound but when it comes to business, nothing is set in stone. With the recent announcements of Days Gone not getting a proper sequel, the whole Last Of US milking, it wouldn't surprise me to see Sony abandoning the exclusive practice.

@Col_McCafferty Nintendo fans also didn't clamour when The Wonderful 101 and Octopath Traveler, formerly Nintendo-published games came out on PS4, Xbox One and PC but other people definitely threw a fit when Bayonetta 2 was announced as a Wii U exclusive despite the fact the original was multiplatform

Nintendo is a super traditionalist company so something like PC ports is practically never to be expected from them. Sony second party games have been coming to PC for years so it was only a matter of time before they threw their hat into the ring. I think people forget PC isn't actually in direct competition with any consoles. Something like Horizon on PC isn't the same thing at all as Halo being put on PlayStation or Breath of the Wild on Xbox. PC is neutral and is bolstered by a large and super active playerbase that likewise consists of people who play on consoles as well, so some people who probably played the game on PS4 might actually buy it again on PC and it just means Sony can actually gauge the kind of content people want from them on a broader scale. I have a friend who was primarily an Xbox/PC gamer but he's going with PS5 this generation because he got Horizon on PC and he liked it. It's a test the waters thing, not necessarily a super committal thing. Sony is still in it to sell hardware and aren't as ambitious about it as Microsoft.

Of course PC is a competing platform, the idea that it isn't is absurd. If you've got enough money and space to acomodate every platform then no but for the rest of us then it's definitely a factor when it comes to choosing how and what to play.

Maybe some PC owners who have played HZD may be tempted to buy a PS5 (if they can get one!) in time for its sequel or more likely think, give it a few years and I'll be able to play it on my rig.

It took Horizon like 3 years to come to PC, and then immediately after its sequel was announced just for PS4 and PS5. Days Gone was PS4 exclusive for 2 years as well. This isn't the same as how Microsoft are doing things where they basically want any and every device they have at their disposal to have some form of Xbox integration. It's still obvious that going forward if you want the first party content as immediately as possible, you still have to buy a PlayStation. The people who are willing to wait for a PC port are probably going to be waiting 2-3 or possibly more years and even then, it's just last gen games right now. You still have to buy a PS4 or PS5 for Forbidden West, or a PS5 specifically for stuff like Ratchet, Returnal and the new God of War. If PC gets the first God of War game there's no guarantee at all that they won't be waiting at the very least 5 years for another one, and by then it won't matter because Sony would likely have stopped counting sales and players on PlayStation, or they might announce a new game in a particular series that's only on PlayStation platforms. It's commitment, but it's not really dedication to PC.

@Divergent95 Sure but you have to understand that in general social media there's a lot more PC and Xbox people who are part of the conversation rejoicing about this news and using this a crutch to diminish the necessity and value of PS hardware. But if you look at PS specific sites and communities, the vast majority dislike the direction Sony are heading in and are also questioning the need to even buy PS hardware if exclusives will go elsewhere anyway.

I personally was a PC gamer UNTIL I broke an got a PS3 for all the exclusives. I liked sitting on my couch with a console so much, I ended up just buying ALL of my games on PS3 (headaches from bad performance be darned).

Thanks to Steam sales, I double-dipped on many of my favorite multi-platform PS3 titles.

Now that PSN is closing down for PS3, I'm uncertain about the future of my PS3 library (90% of which is digital), and yet all of my Steam games are perfectly fine.

In the future, I am planning to be primarily a PC gamer because of the horrendous sunsetting procedures for online games that Nintendo and now Sony are displaying. Does my PS4 library now have an expiration date? It's all very unsettling to me.

In this case, moving forward, I have nooo problem waiting to see if there will be a PC port for ALL PS "exclusives." Just being honest.

I wonder if there ever was an example in history where a platform has lost value or sequels have lost quality because they previous games have been ported to other systems

Microsoft putting games on PC has nothing to do with liking people. It’s about money.

Regarding PlayStation,

Let’s say in the future 15 million move to PC, that’s a lot of PSN store sales lost when they get 30% of every sale.

They could lose a lot more than just gaining the sale of a PS exclusive here and there.

I already own a PS5. I bought it because I loved the games from the PS1-PS4 but am not a fan of the direction Sony is going and if I can buy a PC that offers Steam games, 3rd party games, Microsoft games and maybe eventually all PS games it’s the logical decision if you love to play many different games.

(sigh) Once again, without fail, the "fanboys just don't want to share their games" argument is listed as the ONLY reason why anyone would be against Sony doing this. So I will once again list the reasons to be against this that go beyond that:

• There is no benefit to existing PS users whatsoever. None. Zip. And that is the main difference between Sony and MS here. MS has a system that literally allows existing Xbox owners to benefit from the day-and-date PC releases. Sony does not have that, so their users get nothing. And it's not unreasonable for PS users to not be okay with that.
• By default, PlayStation owners receive the inferior versions of Sony's games. Aside from graphical enhancements, mod support alone makes the PC version of any game superior to all others. Again, it's not unreasonable for PS users to not be okay with that.
• Resources that go into these PC ports are effectively not going into ongoing development of games or whatever else. Once again, this is just Sony and Sony's developers expending resources on something that will have zero benefit for the existing PS userbase.
• Dilution of the identity of the PlayStation brand. Now I know this might be seen as a minor thing overall and some might disagree with it, but it is still a valid reason as far as I'm concerned, especially with the appearance of Sony doing this just for the cynical motive of pure profit (as they themselves have admitted). And let's face it, if brand identity just meant nothing at all, then what would be the downside to Sony also releasing their games on Xbox and Switch?

• The undermining of the "Only on PlayStation/PlayStation Exclusive" labeling. How are we even to know what's exclusive to PlayStation anymore with Sony now actively misleading us with "only on PlayStation" label on games that will now appear outside of PlayStation? And this doesn't change just because they have now dropped the "Only on PlayStation" moniker with the PS5, because they still market their exclusives as exclusives in their trailer videos and the like. In fact, there was a recent kerfuffle when Sony released a Demon's Souls trailer which seemed to insist it was merely a timed PS exclusive, and then they went out of their way to take the video down and replace it with one claiming it to be an actual PS exclusive. And that just seems more than a bit silly because, who knows, maybe Demon's Souls will indeed make its way to PC someday? We don't know. We explicitly don't know because it's as if Sony actually wants to mislead us at this point. And hell, people will buy Sony consoles just for one exclusive. How the hell should they be expected to feel if they bought a PS4 just for Days Gone, and realized all they needed to do was wait a measly two years for it? No matter how you slice it, it's just straight up dishonesty, and it's not a good look.
• Sony will be encouraged to be less committed to their hardware and userbase. When considering how much these PC ports do not benefit PS users, I don't think it's outlandish to suggest that Sony just won't be all that committed to us anymore. This is especially apparent in the moves they've been making lately. For crying out loud, Sony is already releasing a game on Xbox GamePass DAY ONE while we PS users have to pay full price for it. Between that, and of course, their closing of three storefronts, including that of the less-than-decade-old Vita which was STILL getting games made for it, it almost seems as if Sony is just actively showing contempt for us now.

@Flaming_Kaiser Im saying the potential profit they could get on PC by selling their games may be way less than the sales they could get in the PSN Store if customers decide to move over to PC. I’ve heard they get around 30% of EVERY sale transaction on their store. So, if they are kinda pushing their base away, they stand to lose much more than gain from selling games on Steam.
