Sifu appeared in the recent Future Games Show Spring Showcase, and while there was no new footage to enjoy, Sloclap’s co-founder Pierre Tarno did appear to discuss the gameplay in a bit more detail. Primarily, he explained that each time you die you’ll visibly age; this is designed to show how the mastery of martial arts takes time and practice, and so as you improve at the game, you’ll also get older.
There will be a limit to how much you can age, but the developer’s keeping a lid on that for now. In the meantime it did confirm that you’ll face five bosses throughout the campaign, each inspired by an element from Chinese mythology. The upcoming PlayStation 5 and PS4 title certainly has lots of character; let’s hope it plays as well as it looks.

Im keen for this one so hopefully it turns out to be good.
Anyone else getting Sleeping Dogs vibes from the combat?
In my playthrough he'll probably get to 10,000 years old.
@Splat I can see that!
This looks pretty good
I'm calling it... There is an achievement for finishing the game while not aging more than X years/no year at all.
Thank god we don’t age when we die in Dark Souls, I would probably hit the millions at this point!
NINJA APPROVED
I’m thinking the take the Hellblade route where if you die X amount of times you have to restart.
@Waffles12415 Although, that never actually happens, it’s just to make you tense
I always wanted to play as Jack Skelington.
Makes me wonder what styles of martial arts they are pulling from. Kung Fu by itself isn't even a style, so it would be nice to know what specific martial arts styles they looked at.
@BloodNinja The developers are practitioners of Bak mei. The game appears to be influenced with a Jackie Chan / The Raid Redemption kinda vibe.
@Shred @BloodNinja I was about to write Wushu, which is basically chinese kung fu and the one most of us in the west, i believe, are familiar with. However, that would've been pure speculation on my part.
@Shred been saying Jackie Chan Stuntmaster x The Raid as well since I saw this, pretty pumped!
@Eadgar @Shred Interesting, The Raid was intense, btw. I'll have to look into that style, there are thousands out there and I've never heard of Bak Mei. Thanks!
If it's Wushu, it might be influenced by some very, very old style of Wushu because modern day Wushu is strictly a performance art for competition.

@HotGoomba Good take!
I was going to say something like this, too.
Some sort of Old Testament age, at least.
@spyro202 that's exactly what I was thinking when watching the video. Looks like a good game, will probably be picking it up.
that hallway scene is straight out of oldboy
This is PS4 as well? Yet one more reason to NOT get a PS5. As grateful as I am for all these cross-gen games, I have to say I'm not understanding this strategy from a business standpoint. I think FF16 is the only exclusive so far I'm interested in.
@invictus4000 Yeah it just never makes sense to me either. Other than money of course.
@invictus4000 Faster loading times, improved visuals and framerate, the Dualsense and 3D audio. the PS4 is a fine machine no doubt, I had mine for 4 years before upgrading and I wouldn't go back. Kept one of my Dualshock pads for my VR and honestly it feels cheap compared to the brilliant Dualsense!
Shouldn't be a problem. I'll be able to beat this game without dying once.
