Yep, you guessed it, Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to PlayStation 5. Dubbed Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, it'll feature a brand new episode during the story that stars Yuffie and co. It'll be out on 10th June 2021, and current PlayStation 4 owners can get a free upgrade to the PS5 version. Once that's done, you'll need to purchase the Yuffie DLC separately. If you choose to simply buy the PS5 version outright instead of upgrading, the Yuffie expansion will be included. Then there's also a more expensive Digital Deluxe Edition which includes an art book and soundtrack.
This enhanced version will also include better lighting as well as graphics optimization modes. Then there's also a Photo Mode and faster load times. Two different graphical modes can be selected at any one time — one will display the visuals in 4K while the other boasts of 60 frames-per-second. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will cost $70 on PS5, but don't forget that the free PS4 upgrade option will be there.

yes its yufi will we be trying to track you down in that forest again , fun memories!
So lemme get this straight, the PS5 version of FF7 doesn’t release until June 10th alongside the dlc!? That means I have now until then to grab this game on sale...
Pricing is important. Squeenix and Nomura have previous with ludicrously priced DLC that’s rarely on sale.
The lighting and textures generally looked worse, but I’m watching on a 1080 phone screen so I’ll reserve judgement. Still need to do my second playthrough so I’ll certainly wait for the upgrade. Yuffie DLC Looks Ok, but I don’t buy DLC, so I’m annoyed it wasn’t simply part of the next game.
Is the dlc included in the ps5 version? because if it is it's the one big FU to ps4 players who bought the game day 1
Why did some of the comparisons on graphics actually look worse on PS5, did they mix up the captions?
Glad they made the upgrade for free. Will give that game another chance
I expected Square to charge $10 for the upgrade. Kind of a nice surprise to see it's a free upgrade.
@OthmaneAD don’t get the problem with what they’re doing. Literally, a free ps5 upgrade with some paid dlc? Or if you didn’t buy first time you can buy whole package.
@stormyuk No mix up, the PS5 footage was always in 60 fps. They seem to put a lot of extra smoke into the new one, changes the visuals a lot.
@Max_the_German some of the ground texture quality was much better on the PS4 version then.
You'd have thought they would do the comparisons with the fidelity mode rather than performance. Unless there is no fidelity mode?
NOOOOOO NOT DEEP GROUND!!! O__O
The PS4/PS5 difference just looked like they turned the brightness up.
Enjoying FF7R at the moment, but I can justify getting a PS5 for DLC.
Looks great! Will be playing this on release day. Been waiting for the PS5 upgrade for my second playthrough!
So aside from the ps5 upgrade, further fragmentation to increase profits? I don't like it. I would rather have seen the efforts put towards part 2 and any extra 'episodes like this added in a combined ps5/Xbox Series X box set when they complete the game.
What's so hard to understand?!? It is even described in the text.
You are getting the upgrade for PS5 if you own the PS4 version of that game, but you have to buy the DLC to unlock it. My god, how hard can this be?
If you don't have the game already und you buy the PS5 version, the DLC is of course already included, since it's part of the new PS5 version. I hope everyone got that now.
Love the free upgrade from someone who bought it day one and hasn't played it yet. Also looks real good, don't know what other people were watching on.
Im excited for this. Im less impressed by the two mobile games Square Enix announced at same time - ever crisis and some battle royale - its kingdom hearts all over again
I loved the yuffie reveal and it looks really fun and will definitely buy it when I get a ps5
But idk... i hope this isn't frequent. Theyre already delivering ff7 to us in parts and they know this. I don't like that it's being broken up even further
@OrigamiCrane you need to buy the DLC to unlock the PS5 upgrade? Are you getting it? What sense would it make to buy a DLC for the PS4, when the DLC is only included in the PS5 version?
Hopefully part 2 will come out for ps4 too
I've updated the post with a couple more details and some screenshots.
@LiamCroft That's good. Many people aren't that smart these days anymore 😂
@nessisonett you must be getting SE mixed up with Nintendo, right 🤣Unreasonably prices? Check. Never on sale? Check. I really don’t feel like SE is unfair with dlc prices - FFXV character episodes costed less than Persona 5 cosmetic only costumes and the Royal version of the game could be purchased as dlc and not as a full priced new game...and now they are offering the ps5 upgrade for free, cut them some slack
@stormyuk I guess the lighting looks a bit more natural and is also dynamic on ps5 while the PS4 goes for very stylised baked in (static) lighting effects. But yeah, from the trailer the PS4 often looked more attractive.
Either way, I'm looking forward to doing a platinum run on the ps5.
Really glad to hear it's a free upgrade (eat that, Sony!) And the addition of a new chapter existing owners can optionally buy is an uncommonly sensible approach from Sqeenix. Well done!
@Feena I assume you haven’t seen Kingdom Hearts 3’s DLC.
@nessisonett I haven’t (not really my cup of tea) but that game is always on sale!
@Feena The DLC is £25 or £32 including a concert video. For about 5 hours worth of content including your classic nonsensical cutscenes. I just worry that Nomura will pull the same crap again with this.
@nessisonett Wow that’s really not cheap but I wouldn’t complain if Yuffie’s mission is 25-30$ when I get the rest of the game updated for free. In a generation of WiiU ports sold at full price like brand new games SE is far from the worst offender
I was very, very confused as to what this actually was Haha
I want this, but I'm not paying $70 for it. It's too much and games need to go back to $60, which I'm sure they will. I'm really glad it's getting a PS5 version. Here's to good haptic feedback.
Yeah, considering that the game only released on ps4 last year and that the console is still popular it's quite a disappointment to see the DLC being exclusive to ps5. I've never seen any other game cut off the old consoles from a DLC to a multi platform game within such a small span of time. That and the fact everyone thought it was going to be the whole game when they first announced it for ps4 makes it a bit of a kick in the balls tbh. I'll get my copies for ps5 second hand some day when they bother to complete the game. There was the salt I needed for my wounds.
I'm sad to see people complaining about a free update and not asking a VERY important question. Fine I'll be the one to do it. WILL THE DOOR HAVE A TEXTURE IN THIS UPGRADE?
@stormyuk Did you not see the white text that say "Development footage. Subject to change"
My game of the shows, my body is ready (for this game) lol
@OrigamiCrane EA of Japan? Square Enix is one of the best publishers out there, 0 microtransactions in their games (besides marvel's avengers) and 0 season passes (besides ffxv) and great games
Amazes me when devs show off lighting upgrades on YouTube. People forget that YouTube compresses video to hell, so until you see it on your TV from the consoles, you won't know what it's like
The real question is... do I put another 100+ hours into this for a second platinum?
@Voltan My answer is Yes. Another platinum? Yes, please
@Bliquid oh thank you. I'm proud being a smart ass
Really sucks the DLC is PS5 exclusive lmao. Took a page out of Nintendo's book with that one.
I guess that answers my question about whether the sequels will get PS4 releases, though. They obviously won't.
About as exciting as a tumbleweed blowing in the wind to a squeaky fart.
For me now, next gen doesn't begin until June when Ratchet drops. Too many people getting excited over a game we played a year ago makes my brain hurt & my PS5 gather another layer of dust😐
I am just going to wait until they release all parts integrated into one 'Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, 2.0 Upgrade, 3.0 Gold Saucer, 4.0 One Winged Angel 5.0 Meteorite Destruction Edition' with separate DLCs for Yuffie part 2 and 3, Vincent parts 1, 2, 3 and 4, the Weapon Episodes (at least 3), the Master Materia Episodes (stopped counting by now) and the Chocobo Breeding mini-game add-on*.
*Smartphone download required to play the Chocobo Breeding mini-game.
So excited, I can't wait.
This was the best State of Play announcement for me, HYPED and can't wait!
Between Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade with Yuffie's campaign/story DLC, June is gonna be a great month for the PlayStation 5 and it's owners!
