Activision has blown the figurative doors off its upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War mode, a new “large-scale” Zombies experience named Outbreak. Scheduled to release as part of a free update later this week, alongside 25th February’s new season, the mode sounds a little like a union of Fireteam: Dirty Bomb and Treyarch’s trademark co-op gameplay.

You and three other players will infiltrate the Ural Mountains of Russia, and from there you’ll be able to explore freely, searching for loot and intel. There’ll be tasks marked on your map, ranging from traditional holdout scenarios all the way through to escort missions and elimination objectives. Complete these and you’ll be able to move to a mysterious beacon, where you’ll be able to glug Pack-a-Punch sodas and craft key equipment.

As you progress, you’ll gather Raw Aetherium Crystals, as well as Refined and Flawless varieties, allowing you to upgrade your skills. Sounds cool, right? Don’t worry if you don’t own the game, as another free access week is scheduled to take place between 25th February and 4th March, so you’ll be able to download and enjoy it while you decide if you want to pod out for the full experience.
