The original Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas was a really likeable, The Legend of Zelda-esque isometric adventure game that was a particularly perfect fit for the PS Vita – but its successor looks like a step up in every sense of the word. Already available on the Nintendo Switch, developer Cornfox & Bros has announced a partnership with FDG Entertainment that will see Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm set sail to the PlayStation 5.
The press release explains that you can expect a 20-hour journey, filled with “dozens of side quests that grant incredible rewards”: “Oceanhorn 2 is not only one of the best-looking adventure games out there, but it also builds a unique experience on the shoulder of classic video games. Collect powerful items, wield the Caster Gun, solve the mysterious puzzles of the ancients, and discover all that Arcadia and its neighbouring kingdoms have to offer.”
Our colleagues at Nintendo Life didn’t love the sequel, but still awarded it a sturdy (if a little uninspiring) 6/10: “Oceanhorn 2 is a decent game, albeit one that doesn't do enough to stick out from the crowd. Excellent presentation and a clear understanding of the mechanics underlying the Zelda franchise make for a game that is satisfying and ultimately worth the price of admission.”

Never heard of it. After playing Genshin and Immortal Fenyx I not in the mood for another Zelda clone. The odd habit of capitalising every word in the headline except for an arbitrary selection of prepositions had me thinking the game was called Oceanhorn 2 Forges a Path 😆
So, no ps4 version? Strange..
game looks cheery! But idc at all of any game copies botw. Never liked botw anyways🤪 This trailer gave me the Hawaii feeling and the heat.
Ill get this day one if i have a PS5. 😄
I played this briefly on iOS when trying out the Apple Arcade. It was mildly entertaining but it is nothing to write home about
The first game is really good. It's a bit odd that there isn't a PS4 version.
They do say in the Tweet "and more" in regards to platforms, so PS4 seems possible.
Loved the first one. Really creamed in my jeans over it.
Really enjoyed and got the Platinum on the original. This sequel seems to have lost all the charm. The isometric viewpoint made it stand out. Trying to compete with free camera 3rd person zelda clones, on a budget, is a shame. An isometric adventure is a selling point.
I think that trailer looks pretty good I don’t need every game to be some wildly expensive triple aaa omg never has that been done before game so I’ll probably be there day one. Did they by chance give any indication when it might be launching?
Beat it on Apple Arcade during the free trial when it first launched about a year and a half ago. It was fine for a phone game, quite good and expansive even compared to other offerings at the time with fun enough gameplay. And it certainly has a light, refreshing vibe compared to more serious modern games. I do remember one giant fortress that you have to use a grapple hook to reach the upper levels and secret areas in a puzzle-like fashion. That was probably the standout part of the game for me. Also the water area was pretty cool with underwater segments to explore. But it ended up feeling hollow in the end, especially the overview world exploration, and for a console game it’s kind of meh. The cities were pretty big and were fun to explore at first because you often thought something cool could be found. But rarely was that the case. Some potential missed there. For completionists there are bloodstones to collect, like 100 of them, and I anticipated getting a cool reward for them. But I don’t remember it being all too exciting. The task isn’t easy but not ridiculously hard either, and I would say I experienced a certain amount of satisfaction for finding them all. The story kind of ends abruptly and there seems to be a subtle amount of lore that doesn’t have much depth. Even still I strangely enough find myself checking in on a third installment. So I must have enjoyed it enough, for what that’s worth.
@GrimWillows Isn't the entire charm of the Ocean horn games that they were budget Zelda clone games for phones. The 3rd Oceanhorn game, Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon, is now taking the page out of another style of Zelda game.
@Floki so I've only played Oceanhorn on ps4. So 1 game. I only bought it because of the isometric viewpoint which it did perfectly. The 3rd person view, on a budget, is a hard market. The isometric market is not. Oceanhorn could own that. What it did was exceptional. What I see from the new trailer is not. Just saying
@GrimWillows I've played all 3, but on their original platform... iOS. While these games do get console ports. These are mobile games first and foremost. A 3rd person view, on a budget, is a hard market on consoles... Finding a good quality, non micro transaction filled game like this on mobile is few and far between. You basically have to view this franchise from a mobile first perspective. If you don't, you'll come away disappointed.
Fair enough. Thanks for the info @Floki
Finally! I've been waiting for oceanhorn 2 to come to PS4 but I guess I'm going to have to wait even longer to play it on ps5 😔😔
I hope there will be no fishing-related trophy in the sequel.
Mediocre mobile Zelda clone. I'm good.
