Rocket League PS4 PlayStation 4 1

As the big matchup between Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs nears, Rocket League is getting in on the action. Beginning 2nd February through 8th February, Pysonix is rolling out a brand-new in-game event: the NFL Super Bowl LV Celebration. This is anchored by an entirely new game mode, Gridiron, which will see you carrying an enormous pigskin into the End Zone. Pretty neat!

The mode is much more complicated than your traditional soccer-with-cars, but effectively you’ll be playing as a Running Back with wheels. Touch the ball and you’ll be able to carry it, but step out of bounds and you’ll fumble. The ball can also be stolen off your bonnet, and you won’t be able to double-jump when you’re pounding the rock. You can pass the ball to teammates, or dump it off when you spot a hole, but you’ll only score the full seven points if you can run it into the End Zone attached to your car; tossing it loose into the goal will get you three points.

As mentioned above, the mode will be live all next week, and there’ll be some unique Event Challenges, which you can complete to unlock the Gridiron Guru Player Title, NFL Wheels, and 20,000 XP. Elsewhere, the game’s bringing back its previously released NFL Fan Pack to the Item Shop, so you’ll be able to pick up Octane Decals for all 32 NFL teams for 800 Credits. Now tell us, who’s going to win next weekend?
