Tenchu Stealth Assassin PS1 PlayStation

In an interview with Japanese gaming bible Famitsu, Acquire president Takuma Endo has hinted that he’d love for his company to make a new stealth ninja game for the PlayStation 5, similar to the Tenchu titles. As translated by Gematsu, he explained that the firm recently reacquired the ‘Stealth Assassin’ trademark, which has led to impassioned pleas from fans of the old PlayStation franchise.

“It would be difficult to do right now,” he said. “But, if the possibility arises, I would like to make a stealth ninja game from the ground up for the PS5 generation. To lay the groundwork for that, we acquired this trademark, which is the game’s subtitle overseas.” Endo stopped short of announcing anything specific, but it’s nice to know it has the ambition to revisit the formula at least.

It’s been decades since the last Tenchu game, as Shadow Assassins launched all the way back in 2009 on the PlayStation Portable. However, Acquire did also develop the very likeable Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen for the PS Vita, which was a launch title in 2012. Would you like to see this series sneak back into the spotlight?
