Maneater PS5 PlayStation 5

In case you missed the news yesterday, Sony has announced the PlayStation Plus lineup for January 2021. In addition to PS4 games Greedfall and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, PS5 owners can look forward to Maneater, a nautical open world action title about being a big bloody shark. That's good news on its own, but those who recently bought the ferocious fish simulator might feel a little short-changed.

As it so happens, it appears Sony is refunding those who purchased Maneater on PS5 in light of its PS Plus status. Reddit user BraeWhyit shared a message they received on their console, which states they will be getting their money back as PS Store credit and can keep the game in their PS5 library. BraeWhyit notes they're in the US, and that the money hasn't been returned just yet, but refunds do normally take a few days to process.

We received word from another person who's had this same experience, so it all sounds legit to us. The only question now is what the cut-off point is. Sony probably isn't going to refund every single copy of Maneater purchased for PS5 — maybe those who bought it within the last month will be contacted, for example. In any case, it's a nice gesture; a common complaint about PS Plus is those who've recently forked out for a game only for it to be put on the subscription service days later.

Have you received this message from Sony about a Maneater refund? Have you bought the game recently and not had a refund offer? Tell us in the comments section below.
