The first PlayStation Store sales charts of the PlayStation 5 era are in, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was the big winner in November 2020. The spectacular launch game beat out Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to top the PS5 download charts in the United States, while it settled for second in Europe. It also debuted third and fourth in the US and EU on the PS4 respectively.
Demon’s Souls also did well, beating Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to finish third in the US; it had to settle for fourth in Europe, one place behind Ubisoft’s Viking epic. Watch Dogs: Legion did better in Europe on PS5, finishing fifth, which makes sense given its London backdrop. Meanwhile, Sackboy: A Big Adventure debuted in sixth position on PS5 in the US, and eighth in Europe; it didn’t crack the PS4 charts.
Beat Saber continued to dominate the PSVR charts on both sides of the pond, though Astro Bot Rescue Mission did enjoy a resurgence in the aftermath of Astro’s Playroom. As for DLC, new Mortal Kombat 11 content fared really well in the US on PS5 and PS4, while Fortnite bundles continued to be big business. You can find the full charts on the PlayStation Blog.

Congrats to Insomniac! Well deserved!
Beating out CoD at launch is no small feat indeed.
@Total_Weirdo It kinda is a really good expansion I guess. I love these games, though, and I thought they did a great job.
Can't wait for Spider-Man 2 to be honest.
@Total_Weirdo Well it really is just like The Lost Legacy was to Uncharted 4. Playing on the same map does not help the feeling of "just an expansion" tho that's very true. I am curious to see how much of a difference we will see between Spider-Man 2 and the first one/MM
Congrats to sony 1st party launch games devs, I'm glad spider-man, demon's souls, and sackboy sold well
@Total_Weirdo Because it's an expansion actually, although I prefer if the game priced $40 like uncharted lost legacy. I'm still not sold on this +$10 on all sony 1st party games.
So I’m in a weird situation. I’ve dedicated 90% of my time toward Astrobot. Didn’t expect that. But I also bought miles morales with the remastered Spider-Man game. I started both to see which one would hold my interest more and now I’m not sure which Spider-Man game to play first. I’m think Miles just because it’s the newest and faster to finish.
@Katsuhono My thoughts exactly. Really hope they change up the location or it'll feel too much the same. Although if they were to do some sort of spiderverse which allowed for completely different takes on New York to lix things up. Chance to show off the PS5 load times by being able to instantly move between dimensions without any load times...
@Hopewell deffo the first one one first as miles has a whole back story in it with his family. To play the 2nd first would ruin the expierience imo.
I'd also play the remaster first. Apart from the story aspect, Miles improves on the game mechanics a bit as well. Regardless of the length, going from the original's gameplay (which is great) to Miles (which is even better) will feel better than the other way.
Good to see that Demon's Souls did well, even beating Assassin's Creed in the US!
Now if there is a way to have Daredevil in the sequel 😎
@get2sammyb
Miles was my first foray into Insomniac’s spider verse and I’m hooked now. I’m playing the Remaster since it finally finished downloading.
I’m really excited to see where the series goes next.
@JJ2
Agree!! I want to see Daredevil, Miles, and the Punisher in Spider-Man 2. The punisher began as a Spider-Man antagonist and became an uneasy ally to both Peter Parker and Matt Murdock during the 80s comic run.
I think it would have a very fascinating story arc. Daredevil, Spidey, and the Punisher are interesting contrasts on the scale of what a hero is.
Spidey is the incorruptible hero.
Daredevil is the man of conflict about his morality, as his violence goes far beyond Peter’s usage. He’s willing to torture, he’s willing to make a villain suffer and believe he’s going to die. But he can never bring himself to cross the line.
The Punisher is about finality. No second chances.
Seeing all three of them in the game would allow Insomniac to contrast their philosophies. Spider-Man should be the only playable character and the story framed from his point of view. But it would be cool to see Peter’s philosophy and beliefs challenged by both Matt Murdock and Frank Castle.
They could actually include Miles in all this. Maybe have all three heroes influence Mile’s belief system.
@TheRedComet
Nice comment. Yes I also think Insomniac would then have an opportunity to address more mature themes of violence. I d like to play as Daredevil though 😎
Ah it reminds me of my childhood and how I found out about this new character I didnt know. My brother came to me to show me the book and how he got his gift by accident.
