Sonic the Hedgehog is seemingly hopping aboard the on-demand streaming bandwagon. In a now-deleted announcement on Twitter, Netflix is set to produce an all-new 3D animated series based on the beloved character.

Netflix has partnered with SEGA, WildBrain, and Man of Action Entertainment to produce the new show. The latter company has previously had a hand in creating the likes of Ben 10, Generator Rex, and Big Hero 6. The announcement was made a little earlier today, but the tweet revealing the project's existence has now been removed. Of course, a number of people screen-capped it:

As shown in the image, the show is apparently set to arrive in 2022, so there's a little while to go before Sonic's ready for his next non-interactive outing. In related news, the sequel to the successful Sonic movie is also scheduled for 2022. Assuming a game or two is coming between now and then, it could be a busy time for the blue blur.
