Recently, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 received an update that improved its multiplayer offering, and now the single player is getting an overhaul. A free update due to be released today not only adds new Crash Bandicoot-themed items for you to collect, it brings a much requested change to how the Tours operate.
The update will introduce Solo Tours, and it means that you'll be able to play the Pro Skater 1 and 2 Tours with every character — including all the objectives. As it is now, you can only do things like collect the SKATE letters or find the hidden tapes during one playthrough. After the update hits, you'll be able to choose another skater and all the tasks will reset, making it more like the structure of the original games. Cool!
As we mentioned, another addition in this update is a slew of Crash Bandicoot cosmetic items. You'll be able to kit out your custom skater with clothing items and decks inspired by Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time. You can see some of these items in the (very) brief video above.
The update will also bring The Birdman Pack to the game. This pack of 10 decks is only available to purchase for a limited time, but here's the thing. All net profits earned from this pack will go towards the Skatepark Project, an organisation aiming to "creating public skateparks in underserved communities".
There are 100 new challenges to push your skills too, and developer Vicarious Visions has tuned them to provide more cash and XP. It's a pretty beefy update — we're sure lots of fans will appreciate the Solo Tours especially.
Are you still playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2? What do you think of this update? Manual into the comments section below.

A great update, that a lot of people requested. Good that the developers are listening to the community and another reason why this game is awesome. Hopefully they listen to the overwhelming desire to add THPS3 in as DLC as well, even if it's paid for. Would make this package the real deal.
@tomassi honestly, i'd even be happy if next year they released a similar package for THPS 3 and 4. The quality of this release is fantastic
It's great to see a game doing so well and getting such support that isn't a live service or micro-transaction heavy slog.
Thank god for extra challenges and alterations to the XP rewards. Was hoping for something to appear to limit the final grind to 100 - haven't picked it up in weeks, this might mean I get that plat now.
@Rob_230 It’s not likely to be 3 and 4, they use a completely different structure. 3 is still the 2 minute runs and 4 is free run with goals. I could maybe see 3 added in some sort of PS5 edition.
@nessisonett Yeah, THPS3 tracks are something I could see being implemented as DLC or an update or something, like the older Pro Skater remake. 4 is a bit of a different beast altogether with it's increased scope. Maybe they'd save those levels as bonus content for a new game, if at all.
This should have been in from start. It was massive part of these games originally and other similar games like SSX3 - doing all the challenges as the different skates is where the fun is at and how you perfect your craft.
@Rob_230 I'd happily take that as well, more than happy to pay for games when they are as good as this. No microtransactions, no rubbish, just well made fun!
This game is easily one of my favorite games on the system. I really hope it gets THPS3 added. I'd gladly pay another $30 for that DLC.
I hope a good individual sports game gets released for PS5.
I bought Steep Gold edition last week in the PS sale to keep me going for 6 months or so.
Ideally Dave Mirra - for me I preferred BMXing over skateboarding - but I'd be happy with a new Tony Hawk's as well 😁
@PixelRunner here's hoping they do a Mat Hoffman BMX remaster, they've already got the engine for it!
No chance of Dave Mirra after the BMX XXX fiasco
So glad these solo tours have come in, some of the speed run par times are crackers, so I'm hoping after 20+ runs I'll finally remember what order the Magic Bum teleports in.
Is it me or does "undeserved communities" sound like they're aiming to build them in a Nazi commune or something?
@Dislecksier I didn't know anything about the BMX XXX thing until I just looked it up 😬
Whatever the game though, it just needs to have an epic soundtrack like the old Dave Mirra!
