FIFA 21 NPD USA Sales Charts October 2020

The football you play with your feet beat out the football you play with your hands in the October 2020 NPD sales charts for the United States, as Nintendo’s record-breaking year quietly trundled along. The vast majority of the games in the latest US report belong to the Switch, but despite a disappointing critical response, EA Sports’ output is leading the charge.

FIFA 21 registered its first-ever US number one, narrowly beating out Madden NFL 21, which is now in its third month. NHL 21, with a big improvement this year, also landed its best launch month dollar sales since 2015, which is testament to this franchise finally finding some form towards the tail-end of the PlayStation 4 generation.

Ghost of Tsushima, now a five-million unit seller worldwide for Sony, held its position in 12th, while consumer spend for 2020 so far totalled $37.5 billion – up a whopping 20 per cent year-over-year, with new hardware to come. The pandemic may have been devastating for many industries, but gaming has been thriving during these trying times.
