Unless you're invested in the uber-popular League of Legends, you might've forgotten all about Ruined King: A League of Legends Story. Announced nearly a year ago during 2019's Game Awards, this game sees Riot Games starting to broaden the franchise's reach beyond its MOBA roots.
Today, Riot has announced this new title will be arriving in early 2021, and it's coming to both PlayStation 5 and PS4. The next-gen version will release later than the PS4 version, but you'll be able to upgrade for free.
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is a single player, turn-based RPG developed by Airship Syndicate, the team behind Battle Chasers: Nightwar and Darksiders Genesis. Set after the events of Burning Tides, it'll have you exploring two key areas of Runeterra: Bilgewater and the Shadow Isles. You'll form a party with several well-known LoL characters, such as Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, and Pyke.
The game marks the debut of the League of Legends franchise on consoles, published under the new label Riot Forge. More information about the game is due in December, presumably during this year's Game Awards, so keep an eye out for new details soon. What do you think of Ruined King? Skipping through the video for gameplay, all I heard was "Kingdom kingdom kingdom kingdom"
To be honest, it looks really quite cool. I dabble with LoL but I’m crap enough that the overwhelming toxicity turns me off whenever I’m getting into the swing of things. Just personally don’t like playing a game where I get called every name under the sun because I accidentally pressed Q instead of W.
@nessisonett Haha same, the LoL community is a disease. I played for just a few hours and the abuse was more than enough to turn me off from ever going back to League. Those people take that game way too seriously.
This looks interesting tho, I like the idea behind this. LoL has such a rich lore, it'd be a waste to keep it limited to just that moba. Same with Overwatch, I really hope 2 has a great campaign.
@SwitchVogel It’s a shame because I do like LoL’s gameplay, especially going silly characters like Nasus who’s a dog with a big stick. I just don’t see what about me getting ganked for being stupid warrants 3 guys shouting ‘bumboy’ and spamming it in the chat.
@nessisonett Yeah, I legitimately don't get that mindset. Like, it's a game, bro. Relax. It's absurdly overcompetitive people like that which suck all the fun out of a game. I just can't understand caring that intensely about the outcome of a match in a game.

I LoL's lore, but I didn't like the game. I'd be willing to give this a shot. Legends of Runeterra was pretty good too.
Sounds interresting... There is not too much turn-based games.
