Things really seem to finally be going well for the Uncharted movie. The film, which we've been covering for years, appears to be making some meaningful progress, and we're starting to see some of that. Hot off the heels of Nolan North's visit to the set, the movie's star Tom Holland has shared his first in-character image. Here it is:
So, here's what Holland will look like as Nate in the film. No real surprises here; you'll notice he's wearing a similar outfit to that in the original game, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, and he's wearing the "Sic Parvis Magna" ring around his neck.
What do you think of Tom Holland as Nathan Drake? Has this shot convinced you, or are you reserving judgment for now? Grab a ledge in the comments section below.
Awww man, hyped for this!
Also, I love to say over and over again that you guys would eat your own words and that this movie would happen I had this huge feeling
Looks good, hopefully the reaction isn't toxic from the HaRdCoRe FaNs
Still not sold. Hope it's good, hope it does well but I'm not optimistic at all.
He looks spot on to be fair.
It’s a video game movie. Judging by history it’ll be a dumpster fire.
Sonic the Hedgehog was ok, definitely the best video game live action adaptation to date. But that’s one movie out of about two dozen. The rest were all complete train wrecks.
That said, I have a very soft spot in my heart for Street Fighter. Even though it’s terrible, I love it.
He's got the look down, I'll give him that. Hopefully movie is good, Uncharted franchise deserves it.
@get2sammyb Clothes, yes. Head and face, no.
I'll try not to get my hopes up but so far so good!
@EVIL-C I think he looks pretty good. Even without the context, the image screams Nathan Drake to me.
Let's face it, he looks more like the annoying brother really. Odd choice for casting, he must be 'the one' at the moment that the studios have contracts with and need to shoehorn into as many movies as possible to make the returns.
I still kinda see Tom Holland cosplaying as Nathan
I need footage
@TheRedComet I liked Silent Hill.
Hopefully this turns out good, can't see how they can mess it up, bit who knows will defo give it a watch when it's out, should be a nice easy watch.
Should of been Nathan Fillion.
It looks like Tom Holland in an adventure outfit.
Happy with Tom Holland as Young Nate, not happy with Marky Mark as Sully.
Tom Holland looks good as Drake, and I think he'll pull off the smirking, quippy nature of Nathan Drake well. My principal concern with the movie is that they took away Sully's moustache! Mark Wahlberg as Sully without a moustache just won't feel right to me...
Looks the part, the gold standard for video Game movies is Mortal Kombat 😂. Unofficially I'd say wreck-it Ralph and Scott Pilgrim Vs the World are the best but I still Remember seeing Mortal Kombat in the cinema as a kid and loved it!
@NickTheGeek Now let's see if I can apply that mindset to watching Dragonball Evolution, Death Note Netflix and the Resident Evil live action movies lmao
@Thesnipergecko he's too old now
I have to say he doesn’t suite the character, his face is just too dissimilar to Drakes. Will be an interesting film see if it’s half decent, but as it’s based on a game like every other film that has been I won’t hold my breath...
@EVIL-C EXACTLY what I thought as a first reaction.
Outfit looks amazing. The problem is going to be the voice and face, but so far it looks good.
The outfit is perfect but dear lord, he does not suit the ‘rugged adventurer’ vibe at all. He’s far too clean-cut.
He looks the part but hopefully it has a strong storyline and a great villain.
He looks like nathan drake in this setup, seems good
Nathan Fillion is way too old to be playing Drake, let it go people.
Still cautious but pleasantly surprised with this first picture.
It all depends on wahlbergs tache now!
Looks like a Toby Maguire wannabe Spider-Man dressed up as Nathan Drake.
They should have made this movie about 10 years ago with the guy from Stargate Atlantis imo. That said I do hope this does well when released 😊
First we had young Indiana Jones and now Sony are bringing you Young Nathan Drake in Uncharted - the Early Years....
No half-tuck on the shirt? Gotta get the basics right!!! 😂
Ah crap!!! He looks great
Very impressed how spot on he looks as a younger Nate.
But sadly looking at the writers awful credits and an OK director it makes me incredibly sad.
Really wish Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane, The Boys) was still at the helm as director. He was a fan of the games too!
But as we know he had a conflict with Sony on where they wanted to go with this film
Of course I still pray to be proven wrong and it's a great, fun filled adventure flick
He's definitely looking the part, looking forward.
Sidenote, empirical evidence proves that silent hill is the best VG movie adaptation to date 😁
Seen better cosplays.
Not bad actually
looks pretty good but not sure it will sound quite right - can we get nolan north to do a voice over?
I Wonder Who They Got To Play Elena.
He looks the part, but it's all about the banter! Will he have the right quipping charm? A damn shame this wasn't Nathan Fillion 10 years ago! Hoping for the best...
If there's no half-tuck, is it really Drake? 🤔😉
Nice. I guess they make him look younger than he is for spiderman.
It looks awsome cant wait. 😃 👍
Yeah lets be honest i dont really care if he looks spot on everything. The costume looks great and if the story holds im happy. The only thing im scared by is that we get a hollywood selfcentered jerkoff that plays Scully. If you hear how he was in something like Transformers that he wants too be more in the centre all the time that worries me.
I will probably like the movie, I have enjoyed most of the video game movies...
Prince Of Persia
Resident Evil Movies
BUT..........IF, They upset the fans and the film critics........... It will be classed as another flopped Video Game movie?
@TheFrenchiestFry The first Resident Evil movie was quite fun too watch for me. The second wasnt that horrible only what they did too nemesis was quite bad. And the rest was just horrible. 😆
@BNAG_Gamer The first Resident Evil movie was quite fun and the second wasnt that bad but the rest was a dumpster fire. 😆
@Old-Red this is a prequel to the first uncharted game. naturally he will be young here... late teens perhaps.
Hopefully he'll have a grapling hook, so he can swing around like a hero whose name I forgot.
I don't trust Sony's movie division, usually, they make nothing but garbage. Tom Holland doesn't look bad though, his hair isn't right, but that's not a huge deal.
@TheIdleCritic I agree the first silent hill was pretty damn good
I just think we're at the point where we don't really need movies of things like Resident Evil and Uncharted anymore. The games are like playing movies.
I wonder if Naughty Dog has been secretly working on a new Uncharted prequel game to tie in with the movie. It would make perfect sense to release a new Uncharted on the PS5 around the time of the movie’s release. Many have said that the Uncharted story couldn’t move forward with Nathan Drake. Who says it can’t move backwards? Imagine an Uncharted which takes us back to the very beginning. Uncharted: When Nathan met Sully. We go from “one last time” to “the first time.” It could happen!
@get2sammyb I thought it was a game pic at first. My wife - from the other side of the room as I scroll on a 19" monitor - saw it for 2 seconds and said "Nathan Drake".
We both thought he would be playing a younger teen Nathan Drake but he looks older here. As well he should since he's 24 so no matter what people think the fact is the man is 24, that's old enough for prequel Drake but still being Drake.
My main concern now is the voice b/c graphics aside Nate is the sarcasm I don't believe it voice. He's a good actor, I'm sure he can pull it off, but I need to hear it. Gotta not be Peter Parker, and that's going to be hard.
If Nathan Fillion was Nathan Drake it would've been SO PERFECT.
Looks good but also looks pretty young compared to the games. We'll see.
@SegaBlueSky they have 30 year olds playing high schoolers... Pretty sure Fillion could pull off the rather ambiguous character type, Adventurer.
But Holland doesn't look bad here. It's his squeaky voice I'm a little worried about. Also I love Wahlberg but as Sully? Lol, just no.
Thank god its not fillion..the guy is a total egomaniac..good actor but complete *****..
I agree he looks pretty much spot on for the part
Any information on who is doing the soundtrack?
Love the theme of Uncharted!
You just can’t not like Tom Holland really. He has that super-likeable something about him. Remember thinking he would go far when I saw him in The Impossible.
I do think he’s a smidge too young but I’m not expecting the movie to be amazing anyway. Happy to be proven wrong though.
Wish they would make another Tomb Raider movie. The Angelina Jolie ones were great.
@Nepp67 a younger Pedro Pascal also 👌
Indeed, it looks like Tom Holland “playing” Nathan Drake. Did we expect anything else?
I still can't get into video game movies. The SMB movie was horrible but fun, in that it was a way to see the games world for "real" at a time when games were 16 pixel heroes with no voices.
Today's games are already complete movies, complete with a specific actor associated with them. Making movies out of them kind of replaces the in universe continuity and feels out of place when swapping an actor identified as the character. I want to love the idea, but I'm execution it never really works for me. It always feels like a fanfic more than anything.
Think he looks great. For me hes the best spiderman ( apart from maybe Nicholas Hammond) and the devil all the time is film of the year so far 👍👍
@Northern_munkey what makes you say that?
There have been a fair few comments from actors who have worked along side nathan fillion citing how difficult he is to work with and his diva like attitude..castle was finished early because frictions between himself and stania katic grew so bad that they could barely be in the same room because he was so difficult to work along side...i'm sure there will be a reason as to why i'm wrong so before you reply i'll just save time and say i dont care..whatever your reply will be you are entitled to it..peace..
he does look decent ..little bit under weight ....and as for film/cross overs ..evil dead wasnt a bad shout
I feel like producers went with a famous name instead of likeliness of a real Nathan... That's a shame. Still looking forward to the movie. It's going to be super hard to top that 15 mins fan made movie. Those 3 main actors there were perfect (Nathan, Elena and Sullivan)
@Northern_munkey I never looked into the background of him, but gosh he was so perfect in that fan made movie.
Well I'm glad Tom has shown off his Halloween costume, but I can't see him as Nate. Do a CGI film like Rachet and Clank with the original cast instead please!
