Maneater is a surprisingly entertaining action game about being a bloodthirsty shark. We really rather enjoyed it on PlayStation 4, but it seems publisher Deep Silver isn't done just yet. A shark never swims backwards, and Maneater is making the jump to PS5.
The game will be available on Sony's next-gen system at launch with an enhanced edition. This PS5 version of the game adds all kinds of benefits, such as native 4K and HDR, ray tracing, haptic feedback via the DualSense controller, new lighting effects, and 60 frames-per-second performance. As is now a trend, those who have Maneater on PS4 will be able to upgrade to the PS5 version free of charge.
Again, this will be available at launch on PS5 — that's 12th November for North America and 19th November for Europe. Will you be taking a dip into Maneater on PS5? Don't jump the shark in the comments below.

Here's an interesting tidbit, that should be slightly troubling for Xbox Series S owners...
"Fully evolved for the next generation of console systems, Maneater will support Ray-Tracing, native 4K HDR at 60 FPS, and new lighting effects that will bring the underwater world of Maneater to life like only the next generation consoles can. Xbox Series S owners will also benefit from increased graphical fidelity and frame rate."
Hmmmmmm...
@lacerz Increased graphical fidelity and frame rate are troubling to you?
I really enjoyed this, especially the narration.
Can't say I'd ever need to play it again mind.
@Ralizah
Lack of Ray-Tracing support is. They talk about next gen benefits, then include a caveat about what the S will offer. No ray-tracing mentioned. The limitations are already coming to light (or lack thereof).
@lacerz think that's a bit of a stretch.
Obviously the S isn't as powerful as the PS5 or the Series X (I'm not sure there's anyone that thinks it is?) so there will naturally be some limitations.
@roe
Of course, but no ray-tracing, one of the largest marketing messages for this upcoming gen, missing?! That's not a good look and I won't be getting one if that's the case.
On a side note, in a bit of humor, Microsoft's naming convention is really paying off!

If these can do this, surely sony could do it for spiderman. Pretty poor that looks to be gated behind a pay wall.
Did they ever sort out the bugs/performance issues on ps4 though? It has a sort of Goat Simulator silliness/appeal about it all which might be worthwhile on a decent sale,but it wasn't exactly renowned as a stellar WOW game like a God of War/HZD!
@roe I mean, but @lacerz has a point. It's not necessarily "troubling" per say, because I feel like if you've been paying attention, it's clear that the Series S is basically just the Xbox One S that can play next-gen games. But to people who don't pay attention, the average consumer, it does seem like they're the short end of the deal.
I don't get all these 'remasters'. Who's going to buy this on PS5 when they can get the PS4 version cheaper and get the 'free' upgrade. It's the same with Witcher 3. I don't know if they plan to sell the PS5/XSX version as it's own thing, but would would buy it when the PS4/XBO version is so cheap?
Really fun game and reminds me of the type of games you used to get in the PS2 days.
Cool havent picked it up on ps4 yet il wait too get the ps5 version at some point.
@Brydontk do those people really care about ray-tracing though? I highly doubt it.
Unless we ever get a case of games that straight up aren't available (or perform poorly) on the Series S, I don't see the trouble.
Really fun game but I got the platinum in two sittings in the same calendar day. Unless they add NG+ trophies I don't see myself revisiting
@lacerz Im more interested about the controller support then the raytracing too be fair.
Like many games (*ahem DOOM Eternal) I was waiting for the Switch version ... I don’t think I’ll bother now!
So how can they do this for free and Sony/Insomniac can't with Spiderman? I'm sure Spiderman sold more than this which means made more money. This is making that scenario look even worse.
I have the PS4 version of this so I'm eager and grateful for this upgrade to see how it looks and performs on the PS5.
