The PlayStation 5 is one of, if not the largest game console ever produced, but until you get it into your home, it's difficult to appreciate the scale. How will PS5 fit into your current setup? Are you going to have to do some adjusting to get the massive machine next to your TV? Fortunately, one artist has offered some visual help with a series of to-scale drawings.
Illustrator Keisawada has taken to Twitter with several images that show how PS5 stacks up against other hardware. Not only do they show how darn huge the PS5 is, they're also pretty helpful guides to how the console will measure up in your home.
As you can see, the above illustrations depict Sony's next-gen system alongside various TV sizes, Xbox Series S and X, Nintendo Switch, and even game boxes. The thread of tweets goes on, with even more comparisons:
These should make the size of PS5 a little more real; using these as references, you may be able to figure out where the machine can slot into your living space, and make room if necessary. Do you have enough space for your PS5? Tell us in the comments section below.

Suppose I'll just have to buy a bigger TV.
Welp, that's a monster.
Holy Chuff, that thing is a monster. That thing best be super quiet, if the fans ramp up like on the PS4, it'll shake my house to the ground.
How many people gonna wait for a slim model?
Oh come on!
Look at the front view. It's a poor render that doesnt look like the PS5 at all. It's a giant red flag.
@Alex_Bevan I was seriouslty thinking that. But how long beofr e they bring a slim model out? I can't wait that long I don't think. I'm already having to tell all my family and friends to stop me from pre-ordering at launch.
I've looked at all the scale models in these pics and if this is accurate then it means that his cat is enormous!
Like most people, mine won’t fit in my cabinet, so it means standing it vertically on top or on some shelves. Would be the same if I got the series X, that thing is fat! No big deal. I’m also lucky that my furniture is all white!
I've made some space, some sacrifices had to be made but I'm sure the sofa will be perfectly fine in the garden
@ApostateMage looks like my sisters cat Lola. My nieces always give her more food than she needs and is huge! 🤣
My PS4 has plenty room under the t.v. So if this is accurate it'll be fine.
@carlos82 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 Brilliant!
@ApostateMage
Its definitely not accurate.
I have space if I put it horizontally, it's weird that ps5 is designed to be put vertically.
Got my consoles behind the tv, this will fit in just fine 🙂
@wiiware: right? When vertical it will gather dust in the vents I think!
It’s a monster tbh. Huge console.
It’s clear that he wanted the PS5 to look big in these renders.
The pic where the PS5 is falling off the shelf because it can’t fit in there, is just trolling.
The Xbox X wouldn’t fit either.
@wiiware
I think it's great horizontally.
Also its not as deep as the PS4 and easier to access the slots at the back of it.
Will fit just fine, horizontally under my TV.
A real monster, indeed.
My wife is going to love a giant curly white glowing tower of Mordor next to the TV. Please let it quiet, the PS4 Pro is so loud, like its trying to achieve orbit when stressed.
@Adol_Xin Yeah, I don't have problem with the design as long as it's cool and quiet, but it's a weird design lol. Can't wait for the teardown
@JJ2 Yup, although I wonder why sony didn't design the ps5 so it can be put horizontally without the stand. Fortunately I have pretty big tv cabinet so I can put ps5 easily in there.
Big and ugly. I really hate the white design. Hopefully they’ll release a black version next year.
Black is said to be slimming - I'll wait for a black one!
It’s 100% going vertically on the floor next to the TV
It'll fit just fine horizontally under my TV. I've never had a console stood up, and I don't plan to with PS5 either
@JJ2 Looks about right to me. The bigger it is, the better the cooling will be.
What I don't get is that it's not only a monstruous size, but it also features a very flashy design. Almost like a white Porsche Panamera. Ugh. Oh well, real beauty is what's inside and all that.
I THINK that it should fit into my entertainment center horizontally. I hope so, because my TV takes up 95% of the space on the top.
@arsenio3d If we are looking at the same pic (had to click on the twitter account) it looks more like they are showing how the PS5 won't fit in their shelves like the PS4 can. Doesn't seem like trolling to me
@Octane
Yes I dont mind that it's big but that render looks like a child drew it.
Hmm I need to measure up because I have a feeling this will NOT fit on the current shelf without touching the sides. OOer
So for ps5 I’m gonna need a 4K tv and a bigger house!
@wiiware
No I think it makes sense for better cooling that nothing rests on its sides.
I like it. 👀 As long as it stays cool and quiet too.
@Quintumply
Do you really think this render is 'accurate'?
A PS5 doesnt look like that, it's a poor render.
However big the consoles are, don’t stick them IN your cramped entertainment cabinet. It might have been ~okay~ pre PS3 era, but most people haven’t learned that since PS3/360, our consoles need room to breath. Especially now.
@ShaiHulud PS5 looks more like an Ikea design to me.
@JJ2 C'mon, it's just a simplistic 3D model to get the point across, which is comparing its size to other consoles.
I'd love to see a child do that...
Welp, when I get the PS5 I think it's finally time to rebox the Wii U to make room for this chonker on the TV stand.
Is there any chance that people still won't say it sounds like a jet taking off half way through its life cycle?
I think they haven’t done a tear down yet because there’s actually a smaller PS5 inside.
But seriously though, I think this was designed to not fit neatly in TV cabinets so that it wouldn’t get cramped in somewhere with other boxes dumped on top of it. The fact that there’s always going to be space around the top and bottom because of the curves as well as having that collar on top means it will get plenty of airflow even if it is though.
@BlueOcean Why is that? I wouldn't really call IKEA stuff flashy, would you?
@JJ2 It doesn't look 100% like a PS5, sure, but it's using the official dimensions. It's accurate.
that series x looks fairly chunky in width. i will probably box up my PS3, move the PS4 to where the PS3 is, and put the PS5 (when i eventually get one) where my PS4 currently is (if the size is accurate, it'll fit with room to spare).
@ShaiHulud Doesn't look like an Ikea lamp? Just a joke because Ikea makes weirdly-designed pieces of furniture and lamps.
I still quite like the fact that when standing vertically it looks like it's wearing a white cape with a starched collar standing tall.
To be honest when you've lived with it for a few months you probably won't even notice the size. It's like those XBOX HEUG memes from back in the day; moderately amusing now but totally forgotten about when people set it up and start using it.
@BlueOcean Ah I guess I'm only familiar with the more mundane IKEA stuff then.
That is all? I have a PC that is
421mm x 332mm x 381mm
Sitting in our living room - PS5 is tiny 😉😅
My problem is that it is white and ugly. Not the size.
@ShaiHulud 😂
Hope the scale is wrong on this.
I would be happy if it was quite a bit bigger.
It should look nice next to my New SONY 4K 65" TV I got last week The TV is AMAZING And I will have the PS5 fully Erect next to it(that is not the only thing that will be fully Erect) ;-o
I've preorderd the full fat one & if I move stuff around, it will fit under my new LG OLED TV 65 inch that I got ready for the Ps5
My opinion of the PS5 and XBSX hasn't changed. They're too big and too ugly. I'm either going to wait for a disc based XBSS or the slims or sequels of these consoles.
I'm going to be annoyed it it don't fit in my tv console.
@BlueOcean @ShaiHulud I mean I assumed it was inspired by the IKEA PS 2014, as seen in https://youtube.com/watch?v=_eiKJg8oOrg
@ShaiHulud @theheadofabroom Or this...
https://cdn.decoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/IKEA-Christmas-collection-lights.jpg
@JJ2 It looks close enough, and uses official dimensions.
@Carl-G
Nice I'm jealous.
I need find a good TV but dont have too much money for it.
It's big and noisy.. what a fun combo... Sure will blend in with all the black electronics too
Definitely waiting for them to do a redesign and price cut. My gaming PC is less noticable... It's hidden right beside the entertainment center and dead silent from 2 feet away with a 3 fan 2080ti ftw3 in it and 6 case fans! Not a peep.
@Richnj the xbox series x is small.. what are you talking about? It's like 2 and a half controllers tall... It's shorter than a ps4 pro and it's silent. How can you complain about it's size when it's probably smaller than the console you have right now unless all you own is a switch. Hell the switch is wider! Lay the xbox down and put the switch in front of it lol
@Carl-G you bought a sony 4k tv... I'm genuinely sorry. More research was needed on that purchase. They buy their OLED panels from LG but LG keeps the best ones plus LG has the better software. If it's an LCD they bought from Samsung but samsung is done with LCD and again they kept the best ones and sold the rest wholesale so it could have gone in a sony or a Walmart brand...
The moral here is if you buy a TV it should be either LG or Samsung otherwise you get an interior panel and inferior software to drive it.
@d0x360 Well, I own everything. The problem is that consoles have three dimensions. When you take that in to account, the XBSX's volume is probably at least 75% larger than an xbox one x.
Wow this is a huge beauty XD
Well.. I'll wait for the PS5 Slim in 2 years.
Everyone hates the white console, think i was only one hoping for it to be white toatch my setup 😂😂. It just fits under my tv depending on cooling probs best not to have it underneath?
I will wait White PS5 Slim with dozen of cute and kids games 5 years from now.
And i will place it horizontally.
Such a bad design
@JJ2 Yeah, that maybe the reason. Sony could make horizontal console with higher stand though.
Yikes, it is a bit of a monster isn't it? It's not really a problem for me as it'll be tucked away inside a cabinet rather than stood next to the TV, but damn! Weirdly I kind of like the mix of consoles all together, looks like a city skyline where the PS5 is one of those super modern skyscrapers.
Can't wait to rearrange my entire living room to accommodate this beast.
Fail. The obvious thing is to compare it to other PlayStations rather than a random TV and cabinet.
It's the delivery men I feel sorry for!
I'll end up stacking my PS3 on top of my PS4, then still have room for the PS5 next to my NES and SNES Classics! Have to imagine my PS4 will get stowed once I know all my games will work on PS5 though.
It’ll fit on the second row of my TV stand. It has three sections total. Top for the TV, middle for the game consoles, bottom for the surround sound unit.
Are those common TV sizes in Japan or were the smaller ones purposefully picked to make the consoles look bigger? My got my first livingroom LCD TV about 12 years ago and it was 52". Now I'm considering a 50"-ish monitor just for my computer.
