No real surprise here, but you’ll be back into the action quicker than you can draw your sword in Demon’s Souls on the PlayStation 5, as Japan Studio and Bluepoint Games will be leveraging the next-gen console’s SSD to load data at “blistering” speeds. “As developers [of Demon’s Souls], we are already changing the way we think about the SSD,” explained Japan Studio creative director Gavin Moore. “We see it not just as storage but also memory, utilising the speed of the SSD to load data at blistering speeds, bringing you straight back into the action to avenge your many deaths.”
The load times in Demon’s Souls on the PlayStation 3 weren’t particularly terrible, but FromSoftware fans may experience PTSD when thinking about Bloodborne’s loading times, which were frankly unacceptable on the PlayStation 4 – particularly pre-patch. It’s nice to know that these kinds of issues will soon become a thing of the past.

Awesome. I can't wait to die to an enemy near the bonfire and respawn swinging like some sort of weird teleporting ghost.
Edit: Haha! I forgot Demons' Souls didn't have bonfires. What did it have? Nothing? Just the level start? It's been way too long. I've got to play this again.
Well its only taken 5 generations of Playstations to catch up with the blast processing of the Megadrive 😉
One of the reason I didn’t mind a lot of death in some games like hotline miami and spelunky is because I can restart right away rather than waiting for loading time to finish, can’t wait to try the ps5 ssd speed 😃
@avenovah Well spotted! The creative director of Puppeteer!
Sounds good to me, Bloodborne’s load times were truly annoying.
@nessisonett Bloodborne's load screens were a stronger incentive to not die than losing your blood echoes.
(Edit: ^This is sarcasm.)
This is and Elden Ring are the 2 most anticipated games!!!! Never played demon souls so I’m super hyped
I actually liked that it took forever for the game to load. It made the scary parts of almost dying even scarier. Knowing it'd take forever to get back to the same point, I was much more careful than in some other games.
The most annoying thing in From Software games are the load times after dying and the respawning enemies around boss fights.
Good to know one of the most annoying things with those games is being addressed. Dying repeatedly to a tough boss I have no problem with, staring at a loading screen and defeating the supporting minions for the millionth time I do.
Edit: People seem to think the loading screen is an incentive not to die... I'd argue that's nonsense in the same way unskippable cutscenes are an incentive not to die.
@wiiware - Celeste was also particularly good for that. You could die hundreds of times in a level (and I did...) but because you respawn at the beginning of that screen immediately it never felt frustrating. You could try new strategies to see if they worked, and if they didn't pan out there was no penalty - if full 3D action games could be the same on PS5, that will be awesome!
Im playing bloodborne on the ps4 now and the game is fast to me .graphics looks really good.easily my third favorite ps4 exclusive next to god of war and ghost of tshushima.cant wait for demon souls.word up son
@nessisonett. No its not.im playing bloodborne now and the loading time is like 9. 10 seconds.im a patient guy.im having fun with bloodborne the masterpiece.1.god of war 2.ghost of tshushima.3.bloodborne.best ps4 exclusives.word up son
@pip_muzz its not anoying at all.im playing bloodborne now and the load time is not long as people said.spreading false information.bloodborne is a masterpiece easily third best games on ps4 behing god of war and 👻 ghost of tshushima.word up son
So all fast then. So - LOAD, DIE, LOAD, DIE, LOAD, DIE, LOAD, DIE...all quicker then + I hope in the PS5's UI you can jump straight into App's to. Like say game to YouTube instantly. No messing about Loading everything each time. That would be the FUTURE
@playstation1995 Play Nioh then play Bloodborne. Granted it's not the 40+ seconds it was at launch anymore but it's still long enough to be annoying. Hence why there's an article on it and people are all commenting on the loading times.
My hype is unreal for this. Please let it be ready for Christmas 😆
@Carl-G You Know I Read Your First Sentence In The Master's Synthetic Voice. (He's The Final Boss From The Original Fallout Game If You Didn't Know)
@playstation1995 they're not bad now but at launch the load times were certainly a pain.
As for the Demon's Souls remake, yeah hopefully this becomes the norm now with the proposed speed of the PS5.
I played this very recently on PS3 and the load times were a bit of a pain because of constantly having to travel back to the Nexus.
@roe. I actually play demon souls last year. On my ps3 i didn't have no problem at all.i hope they add new bosses also.demon souls is definitely easier than dark souls .you can buy 100 health and levels are chopped in ones.especially playing as a mage/sorcerer.word up son
@naruball You're the type of person to say 30 fps is more immersive. When in fact it's not it just feels more like a movie.
Really looking forward this remake. I really enjoyed the old one (original game).
!!!GIVE ME THIS GAME!!!
@Kdog nice ASSumption, man. Keep it up.
@naruball This....is a really bad take. Lol
I never complained about loading in Bloodborne, felt fast to me. The only loading that destroyed me was for FFXV, the worst loading this gen.
@NoxAeturnus It had... protobonfires? ARCHSTONES!!! Or something like that, anyways, the ones out in the world were essentially a stone with a sword in it, or maybe the stones were a skull?
Anyways, cannae wait to die a few hundred times!
@Mintie YES, archstones! And I remember the swords now. Thank you!
Hi there fellow gamers. I still remenber those loading screens showing some of the NPCs of the game and be like:
"I found that one, didn´t find that one, that one looks cool and who the heck is that one?" Good times trying to figure out who those characters were.
I kinda hope htey were able to make some of the unique game systems not so much obtuse, especially for new players.
Dying in human form and making the game harder because of world tendency and not knowing about it, is a huge pain.
Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
@playstation1995 Hi there friend. Glad your enjoying one of my all time favourite games.
Bloodborne is such an amazing game, even more if you have the Old Hunters DLC and if you don´t, you should get it. It´s very good.
God of War, Bloodborne and Ghost of Tsushima are some of the best games I´ve played and the some of the best Playstation have to offer as well as Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, inFamous Second Son and The Last of Us Part 2.
Cheers and have a great one. Word up son 👍
