Ghostwire: Tokyo recently got its big re-reveal during Sony’s gigantic PlayStation 5 showcase, so we’ll forgive developer Tango Gameworks for not having much new to share at this stage. However, we can’t believe it dragged legendary director Shinji Mikami out of bed to announce that… Yes, you’ll be able to pet the dogs in this post-apocalyptic game.
To be fair, the Shiba Inu (?) in this trailer looks particularly well rendered. Who cares if a whopping 99 per cent of Japan’s capital’s population is missing? There’s always time to pet that darn dog.

You can pet the Shiba?
I'LL TAKE YOUR ENTIRE STOCK!
That's a good dog 😃
Rest assured
"Work in Pawgress"
Well, that's cute. I sure hope I find more to like in future trailers for the game, though. I want to be excited for it again like I was when I first heard about it.
I love how almost all games are doing this to sell their games better.
14/10, would never ghost the Tokyo dog.
So far I've seen no major reason to buy a PS5 or Series X. Yes, I have both on pre order and am really looking forward to PS5. Losing interest in Series X as MS is clearly going down the Gamepass route hence why they said Sony and Nintendo are not the direct competition anymore. No interest in digital services.
Ratchet looks great, Spiderman will be pretty good, some other interesting games too...but unfortunately PS4 has had Ghost Of Tsushima, The Last Of Us 2, games that stand out....PS5 games will need to hit the Wow button to tempt some people to buy. Let's see what we are to be spending our money on. Bugsnacks does not count.
I hope we can pet Thunderjaws in Horizon 2.
@Mezzer give it time friend..and offcourse you can enjoy your ps4 games..countless great first party games there..
Classic comfirm.word up son
Pat. Pat the dog. You pat your pets.
@JorbNorb pretty sure it's pet 👍
Lol what is it with gamers and petting digital dogs?! And ehats with not wanting to kill dogs in video games?!
Very excited for this. Shinji Mikami has been on a roll with his Tango work, and Ghostwire certainly doesn’t disappoint in the “weird” department. Can’t wait to use my mystical vogueing powers to fight some headless ghosts. Werk.
But will its tail wag when I pet it?! Off the subject but does anyone remember that Tokyo Jungle game for PS3? Pretty sure you could play as a Shiba.
But I can pet a fox in Ghost of Tsushima. A dog feels like a downgrade. Maybe the dual sense will allow for some next gen petting.
@zebric21 True but I've beaten all the PS4 exclusives.... No need to replay them.
Of course time will tell but it's nice to have at least a couple of Killer PS5 titles at launch that are not multi plats.
@Mezzer So Demon's Souls Remake and H2 Forbidden Forest didn't sell the "Wow button" for you? You're free to have your own opinion but Demon's Souls Remake, Horizon 2, Ratchet and Clank, and Spiderman Miles Morales sold it for a lot of people including me.
@SmileyK my friend. I have gamed and been around the scene from the 70s. When you have played as many games as I have, and as many that came with flawed promises.... playing games twice in modern gaming is rare. Two reasons. One I have a small family. Two a self employed business.
I also exercise daily and have been a soundtrack composer for many years.
A game has to be really amazing and fresh to capture my time. In recent times God Of War I played through twice.... and Uncharted 4.
Bare in mind I own a PS4 Pro, Scorpio edition One X and Switch.... even Nintendo have fallen into rinse and repeat releases.
Quite a few gamers will agree with my thoughts when you have played 1000s and games...
I buy alot of games. I have well over 250 on PS4....some I've hardly touched as right away I knew they were reskins of games I've played before... very easy to spot the signs.
@Nepp67 That's great that those games work for you.
I've never liked souls games.... Ever. I hate the design and progress system... I have no interest in that.
Zero Dawn 2 I have major interest in but its ages away and no gameplay was shown.
Spider Man was a pretty good game. I have no interest in super hero's but it's a first time I've seen the Batman games challenged. Miles is a spin off with the same city and engine so not too sure what to expect as its not a full game.
Ratchet, yes, that looked good but again, it's ages away and visually is not a major step over PS4 Pro.... but I would prefer to see this as a launch titles.
A few rumors doing the rounds right now is timed deals that Sony are apparently doing with multi plat games..... Why?
It says two things. They know they are thin on exclusives, let's face it... PS4 has had amazing games.... Or two they don't want people to see the comparison between the same game on Series X and PS5 as the difference maybe large?. Its a strange tactic from Sony if its true?
@Mezzer Or you know... they're trying encourage you to get their system? It's not that hard to think about. They've done this before with Monster Hunter World and COD MW and you think it's because that they're "thin on exclusives"? Come on. Don't be ridiculous.
@SmileyK and that my friend is brilliant. Fair play to you.
@Nepp67 COD is to me, not a game. Its a service. Monster Hunter is not my thing. I appreciate it but its again a type of service game.
I don't do online gaming or multi player. Games for me are single player.... Whether that's retro, retro influenced or big budget games like God Of War and The Last Of Us 2.
It stuns me how people find so much time?. In my teens and early 20s I could easily game for hours but not on my mid 40s. Try doing it with responsibilities(family) and composing music.... and being self employed...
This is why I still buy lots of games but getting round to playing most of them is impossible.
I owned over a 1000 games on the Snes. NTSC and Pal games... The same for most consoles of that era... Neo Geo, PC Engine and its CD version.... PSX, PS2 etc etc...pretty much owned or still own every console since the VCS and computer since the Vic 20 and C64.....
Online, multi player.... No interest at all. Digital only games, no interest. I strive for fresh games with new ideas and concepts these days.... Or games from trusted dev teams or friends in the industry.
@Mezzer I enjoy multiplayer games such as MHW, COD, FighterZ, etc. But regarding your point about "How people find so much time" and "Getting around to play them is impossible" is one of the reasons why I hate and despise Battle Passes and question why practically no one ever complains about it being on a time limit. Imagine having to play 5 games that have a battle pass and maxing them out. That is impossible for a person that who works or has a job(And like you said, having a family)
But anyways back to the original point about the timed exclusive deals. Sony has done it before with games like MK9, MHW, and COD and they never lacked any exclusives. Just saying it's been done before.
