Fantasy turn-based tactics football game Blood Bowl 3 will blitz the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 next year, as the cult Games Workshop adaptation gets its third run out on consoles. Developed by Cyanide Studios and published by Nacon, the title will once again find elves, orcs, and other mythical creatures lining up against each other, as they battle for yards with shoulder charges, kicks, punches and weapons of varying degrees of lethality.

You’ll play as the coach, calling the plays that will best benefit your team: “Hinder the progress of your opponents by positioning them in your tackle zone, knock down those who get in your way, and break through to your opponents' end zone to score a touchdown. All your units can gain experience and receive statistic bonuses or new skills. However, be careful: injuries are common, especially when the referee is a goblin who tends to overlook most forms of violence.”

For those of you who don’t know, this series is based upon a board game which is scheduled to get an all-new release this year. As such, the game “will use the new edition rules, teams, units, and associated skills”. There’ll be a campaign and multiplayer mode, as well as regular post-release updates to keep the package feeling fresh. As big NFL fans, we’ve been meaning to try out one of these titles for a while – perhaps it’s finally time, eh?
