Did you really think we'd pass on the opportunity to talk about the PlayStation 5 DualSense controller just a little bit more? Of course we wouldn't, and that's because one of the launch titles for Sony's next-gen machine will be making full use of its features. Not only will Godfall take advantage of the PS5 SSD, it also incorporates haptic feedback.
Speaking with GameSpot, game director Keith Lee explains how the looter-slasher plans to do this. "What's exciting about the DualSense controller is the fact that it has stereo vibration in terms of the rumblers, as well as resistance on the triggers, so one of the things that you can do is to create, for the first time, a sensation of your weapon hitting another weapon and how it resonates. The fact that if you're sliding across the ground, depending on the surface of the material--you might slide on gravel or sand or water--the way the vibrations work really feel like the way that those surfaces would feel. So it's a lot more powerful in terms of creating that experience."
Lee goes on to state that since Godfall is an experience all about melee combat, the range of different weapons on offer makes the PS5 DualSense controller incredibly exciting. Weapons will clash with one another in a number of different ways and Counterplay Games is looking into ways of telegraphing to the player that an enemy is about to attack you from off-screen.
We're becoming fairly excited about Godfall as we slowly draw closer to the PS5's launch -- it comes across as a pretty meaty experience. Plus, it's nice to know that a launch game will make full use of the new controller we'll all have in our hands come the end of the year. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments below.

Honestly I'm pretty excited for Godfall. Sure it doesn't seem to "break new ground", but that's. Fine.
It looks sleek, it looks fun, and I just love how this game looks like it wants to be a big, cheesy action RPG.
Though, potential monetization given its genre and publisher worry me.
I seriously want full dualsense support for at least this year ps4 exclusive for ps5, how cool it is to play ghost of tsushima and tlou 2 with the full dualsense support and 3D sound
Sounds cool, but the game isn't my sort of thing.
The problem with all these gimmicks is that they most certainly won't be used after the first year :
The only "gimmick" that the DS4 brought was the "share button", and it has nothing to do with how you play your game.
I may be very surprised by the result, but right now, I don't care for this "haptic feedback", give me back buttons instead!
Well godfall better take advantage of the 3D Audio π!
It's amazing how people don't get how big audio makes a impact on a game..
All this reminds me of is when developers where excited to take advantage of the Dualshock 4 "exciting new features" like the touch pad. And well... That didnt last beyond a bunch of games in the first year and the odd game here and there over the years.
The new features sound cool, but I bet they won't be as integrated into games as much beyond the 1st year, but you never know!
@gmxs True, but then there are other features that were once new that are now used by everything, like analogue sticks and rumble. Even shoulder buttons which were new things once upon a time. If a new thing is used a lot, we take it for granted. If it isn't, we focus on it and say new things are never used. Back when the PS1 was announced, it was a common thing for magazines to say it was pointless for Sony to use CDs instead of cartridges - people said "oh so we're just gonna get some crappy FMV games like Night Trap?"
@Olmaz. You are wrong on everything.you know ps4 have vibrations since lunch and lightbar and everything.yet you still complaining.me i love the vibration.and the lightbar is my favorite part of the controller.word up son
@playstation1995
People complain about nothing really. Dont like it? Switch it off. Easy.
@playstation1995 @JJ2 Ok, first, where do you see me "complaining" about these new characteristics? Stating that new controller gimmicks aren't used by the vast majority of developers (even first party ones) is nothing new, and is not a complaint.
Then, I stand behind my statement that most characteristics of the DS4 have largely not been used, there's nothing wrong there.
"ps4 have vibrations since lunch and lightbar and everything" I'm going to assume you wanted to say "launch" (even though "lunch" is funnier! ), but then I don't see when I even implied it wasn't... I mean, we had rumble in controller since loooong before the PS4....
"me i love the vibration" Nothing wrong with that, good for me, I already said it was my personal preference to turn it off
"the lightbar is my favorite part of the controller" oh s***, you were a troll! ... right?!
@JJ2 see above for the term "complain" and also, yep switching off is easy, which is what I do with most of these gimmicks. I was just saying that if they're going to invest in the development of a new controller, maybe they could add to it things that gamers AND developers are going to use.
Now, I'm perfectly open to being convinced by haptic feedback when the PS5 comes out, but until then I'll stay very skeptic about how much a game changer it is going to be.
The new dualsense features will absolutely be used past launch. I have full confidence that the haptic feedback and trigger resistance will add so much to immersion, and I think a year or two from now we'll all be wondering how we played games without this stuff. The only question I have is how PS5 will support back-buttons, because after becoming hooked on the backbutton attachment, I NEED it!
@Olmaz. A troll i never seen that movie.π€.did you Play in it.but seriously.i love the lightbar .if a game dont have vibrations i will not enjoy it .i love vibrations in video games.touchpad is amazing.it can also be a map.so its cool.word up son
@JJ2 i know right.im with you playa.people complain about everything these days.its ridiculous.i love the light bar.the vibration.the touchpad is good also.respect jj2π.word up son
@Ear_wiG I'm with you about the back buttons! That attachment is really a game changer for me and I'm still incredulous that it wasn't a sort of test from Sony before introducing a new controller with back buttons for PS5....
@Olmaz Come on dude, vibration is good.
I like the feeling, specially when paired with sound design, like the feel of "rockets" when you boost in some games. Or on RE2 when you see the Licker crawling on the window it make the jumpscare feels more real. A gamepad without vibration feels incomplete to me, i don't care if is Rumble Motors or Haptics Activators, but i want one of those. Haptics activators are more battery friendly, tho.
The touchpad is pretty useless, but it can add 2 extra buttons to the gamepad, like on Bloodborne.
Lightbar is a gimmick. Same with motion sensor, the only game where is useful is Dreams.
Now, about no backbutton i absolutely agree, i was really dissapointed when they reveal the DualSense without it. Specially since they add it to DS4 with that ugly attachment. I was hoping that was some kind of hint about the DS5 having backbutton out-of-the-box.
Also, i hope they pop up the OPTION and SHARE buttons, they are awfully made in DS4.
Touchpad is good if you are epileptic. It is fun to touch it and see screen shaking like on heavy drugs. Always reminds me optical mouse used on trousers... π
@Makina Interesting... I must be influenced by my personal bias, as I always thought nobody really used the rumble in games... I quickly searched it and found 4 different poll, with verys different results!

To see if you can get be on the rumble bandwagon, do you have any PS4 games that you would recommend because of their particularly good implementation of it?
@Olmaz
> do you have any PS4 games that you would recommend because of their particularly good implementation of it?
No, i don't have it.
I like to have vibration on my games, as and addition. Something that make the games feels better. Like the RE2 Licker example, it's not like you can't have the same scene without vibration, it just feels better to me.
But i don't know any game that has vibration as a "killer feature".
@Makina Ok thanks anyway. I'll try it with RE2, see how it goes.
The only game that uses touch pad controls well that I've found is sparkle 2. It allows you to use the surface of the touch pad like a phone screen to control your game and makes accurate and faster shooting much easier. Apart from that it's typically a giant map /select button as previously mentioned. Such a waste, much like the built in speaker was.
The main thing I want to change on the controller is battery life. I've gotten used to 20+ hours from the switch and xbox controllers and the 3 hours each all of my PS4 controllers last hurts.
@Ridwaano I'm worried about Sony's 3D audio. I have a full Dolby Atmos set-up now and its great Xbox one X can place sounds anywhere in the room and it adds a lot. I know Sony's solution has more sound position points but what hardware will it support. At the moment it seems its only the PS5 headphones. Given I already have over a Β£1000 Atmos system and It is supported by all the TV and streaming services as well as Xbox I hope Sony will support it along side their own propitiatory system
Does anyone else have a feeling it's going to fail hard like Battleborn and Evolve and then shut down early? Something is just really giving it that vibe.
@Olmaz Vibration is fantastic in games as it helps immerse you. Haptic feedback along with adaptive triggers will help those that want to be immersed much more into the world.
@Olmaz Right?! Seems like it sold well too? Itβs a pretty surprising omission on the DualSense...
@Olmaz Dual shock actually faded into the background for me. I liked the rumble but wouldn't have been able to explain why. Then one day a bug in rocket league meant I felt no rumble when I used boost. It completely threw me off my game. Was so happy when it was fixed. Would tend to agree on light bar would be nice to be able to turn off but really need it for psvr so happy they have that too.
