Rocket League married arcade driving to physics-based footie nearly five years ago on PlayStation 4, and it took the community by storm. The rest is history, and the game is still going strong as ever thanks to excellent post-launch support. To help celebrate the game's upcoming milestone, developer Psyonix is holding a special fifth anniversary event in the game, starting tomorrow, 30th June.
The event will go on for two weeks and will of course introduce a raft of new cosmetic items to earn. With balloons collected from playing matches, you can redeem these in the store for new bits and pieces inspired by Psyonix and Rocket League itself.
In addition, two limited time modes will be introduced. Spike Rush, which sees the ball stick to the spikes on all cars, and 2v2 Heatseeker, which turns Rocket League into more a game of Pong than soccer, will be available in playlists during the two-week period.
Will you be joining the festivities in Rocket League? Are you still playing after five years? Score an own goal in the comments section below.

I love playing rocket league but wish they'd get rid of the credits system. Epic be epic tho and money makes the world go round
For me Rocket League is my game of this generation. I've put more hours into the PS4 & Switch than any other game in nearly 20 years. I'm alright most of the time but can turn up with a worldy one minute and awful the next.
Simple, addictive and at the time FREE. Yeah the store and credit system if naff but at least its all cosmetic and gives no advantage.
Got all fingers crossed for the UE6 upgrade for PS5.
Glad it's going strong but the credits system was the end for me - gave up after the following season pass after that and never looked back.
Are they gonna add and new trophies? I love seeing what they offer each time but it's been too long since the last trophies were added.
@Kyroki You fancy running the event mate? Make a start tomorrow night if you like?
I always keep coming back to it, best game of all time
