It wasn't part of Sony's PlayStation 5 games reveal event last night so this tidbit of news might have gotten lost amongst all the excitement. Remedy has confirmed that it will be bringing Control to PS5 with a native version which we assume will take advantage of all the new bells and whistles the next-gen console brings.
The developer had very little to say beyond confirming the project and promising more details in the future, but in all likelihood, it'll look and run better than ever on the new hardware while utilising the PS5's DualSense controller. We expect 3D audio out of this one alongside a much more steady frame rate. Could it be bumped up to 60? Given how poorly the game ran on PlayStation 4, we're not so sure. But we can dream, right?

I've literally just started playing this, still early days but is great so far if a little weird
Hopefully it'll run much better on PS5!
I've played it via PS Now and to be honest, I found the technical issues to be greatly exaggerated.
They really should've spoken more about how the BC works. Will the PS5 version of control be a new SKU? Do you pay for upgrades?
So far the way people talk about it "Cyperbunk PS5 version for free", "Destiny 2 ps5 upgrade for free" makes it seem like there will be versions that aren't "for free".
@Athrum Yeah it's all a bit vague. Some games have free upgrades of the PS4 games, and some you have to buy the game again to get improvements.
Surely playing the PS4 game Control on a PS5 it should just run better anyway. They could just patch in a few improvements.
I'm certainly not re-buying all my games again. I've done that enough over the years. Especially when the PS5 supports PS4 games anyways.
Forget that Remedy and give us the Alan Wake PS5 remaster we’re after!!
Almost all my game buying is on hold for exactly this reaon. Oh well, it's good for my backlog, and I'll have a nice spread of games to choose from once the 5 comes out.
I just never got on well with this game. Its just an irritating wave shooter with a pretentious, sci-fi, gobbledygook story. Was relieved when I finished it ... then I got duped into playing the post credits scene ... tidying up coffee cups/organising faxes crap. Grrrr. Deleted straight after with zero interest in going back and completing side quests.
I'm defo getting this on PS5. Completed in during a week trial of PS Now and absolutely loved it. Hopefully it won't chug at all on the new console.
This is ridiculous that devs are already trying this. The game will be BC, so why would be need a new version. Just patch it for ps5 and move on.
@RatmCky A lot of these "new versions" are free upgrades for original owners. Cyberpunk, GTA, Destiny for example, hopefully this is the trend for all of these.
@Quintumply Totally. Despite powering through to the end it was such a frustrating experience. Such a shame as I loved the combat and mythos.
@ShaiHulud Really? That's how I played it too - though I downloaded it - and it ran like absolute dogsh*t.
Sony need to clear up the cross buy situation for sure. Until they do I'm holding off buying any PS4 games from now on. I don't want to have to buy Ghosts or TLoU2 etc. again for PS5. They need to come out and make clear some of their policy statements, because it's not clear at all. Unlike Microsoft who are pretty unequivocal on this stuff.
Canceled it on PS4 when I saw it ran like a slide show (got the PC version)... they should patch it for the PS4 owners who bought it.
Good game, and looks stunning with RayTracing. But no need to buy it again.
The Foundation DLC was also good. Hopefully we get more news on the 2nd part of the season pass soon.
@HUMPERDOO Yep. Some stuttering here and there when things got intense and load times were a bit too long for my liking, but overall it was fine!
Ooooo bringing it up to ray tracing and better frames. Yum. Glad I held off, I was close to buying too while it’s on sale. Now I’ll wait for the ps5 edition
Strange that people are saying it ran poor. I played the download version on my base PS4 and apart from a few stutters when it got hectic and everywhere was exploding, it ran fine.
I played on PC, Just for the ray tracing candy, Looked and ran great but I don't want to pay for PS4 remasters, I'm hoping for a PC like experience, Just better or at least solid performance of your existing games.
Somehow I got really lucky and had very few issues playing Control on my PS4-Pro... But this game is good enough that it would be worth a second run through with all the bells and whistles.
@Oddbodjunior Hi there. They definitely should do that. Now that Remedy as taken back "control" of their property, they can do whatever they want. So a remake of Alan Wake, with American Nightmare included is a high possibility. And then a sequel Remedy, pretty please? Cheers and have a good one
@RaZieLDaNtE That would be such things as dreams are made of!!
So much for me playing on PS4 XD. I shall be waiting for the PS5 version to drop down to $20 New in 2-3 years!
@KratosMD it actually runs pretty 👋 no especially on pro. It's a true gem I think alot of people missed this one out. It beat death stranding and sekiro buy a long shot in my book and yet i do love sekiro. Don't pass this up its now 15 quid on ps store. Bargain.
