GTA 5 PS5 Will Be More Beautiful and Responsive Than Ever Before

But will it be free for current owners of the PS4 version? We really need some clarification on the backward compatibility/generational transition.
As much as I don't like Microsoft and Xbox, at least they're sending clear messages with their "smart delivery".

Giving the online element away for free could massively hurt the game's sales. I know a guy who works at Rockstar and he's worried he's going to have to sell one of his yachts

I think Rockstar is taking the mickey here, IF they expect us to pay to upgrade for a third time.

Sounds like it's more that they want to keep GTA online going next gen. So if they are doing up the engine for next gen for that, it's probably very little work to redo the single player campaign as well. So they figure they may as well milk it some more.

Enough of GTA 5. Give us a new game already. I was happy with the success of GTA 5 at first but it seems the games success is also the reason we're not seeing a sequel. Rockstar used to make single player game after single player game. For the whole of the 7 year gen with PS4 and XB1 they've released just one new game... I won't be buying this simply because I want new games and not old ones.

@Bamila pretty sure it’s not tied to whether you own the PS4 version, it’s actually tied to ps plus membership as stated.

As long as the game is minimum 60fps, I’ll def buy it again. Great game also.

Which means everyone who owns PS5 and PS+ is not necessary to claim it, however since you need plus to play Online, it doesn;t change much. But yeah, everyone who owns PS5 will be able to claim GTA Online for free within 3 months of the launch of GTA Online Stand-alone on PS5.

Additional GTA Online content... meh. This whole thing is a bit ridiculous, there should be a new GTA game by now, but I guess now that they know they can make all the moneys with minimal effort on online appearance stuff, they figured there’s no need to ever give us a proper sequel.

It still baffles me that the whole presentation opened up with THIS game. They didn’t even bother showing PS5 footage, that’s how little Rockstar actually cares anymore.

Man this is a bummer to me. I put the milking directly on 2K. GTA online should no longer be tethered to GTA5. Make them completely separate entities and focus on an excellent single player GTA6

I just want something new from Rockstar at this point. GTA 5 is great and all but i think its time to move on. Sadly the wild popularity of GTA: O means i dont think we will see much new for a long time yet.

The only way i would even contemplate getting GTA 5 again would be if they added a meaty new single player expansion.

So sad to see what rockstar have become from their heyday on PS2 and PS3.

It's pretty sad really. PS1-3 had 2-3 new GTAs each! PS4 didn't see a single new entry, just a remaster and PS5 is getting, yet again, the same one doubly remastered.

@DrClayman R* make one game per Gen now because of how big and time consuming they are, we had RDR2 this Gen so Next Gen most likely the later half GTA 6 will be released. The reason GTA V is coming to Next Gen is because it makes too much money and Take Two want to keep that train going until GTA 6 is released.

Also thinking they should put out multiple GTA games like they did in the PS2 is such a dumb way of thinking when games back then were way easier, quicker and cheaper to make compared to today when its no where near that simple.

I wish GTAV would have died years ago. Clunky controls, clunky health recovery system, horrible load times, horrible matchmaking and mode layout, horrible multiple aiming setup. Free-aim and free-aim assist mixed together.

BUT, that freaking game is always, ALWAYS in the top ten of monthly sales. This doesn’t include how much they freaking make on micro transactions.

You can Google it, but I’m pretty sure that a few years ago they officially released that they had made OVER 500 MILLION in HALF a year in micro transactions. Just last year that number had dropped to right at 600 million for the entire year.

Take 2 makes 60% of their money on people buying fake money and boosters solely from GTA and NBA, Google it.

If people didn’t buy this dang game, we would have a new GTA.

I ignored it on ps3, ignored it on ps4, but they keep trying to get my attention...and after playing the formidable rdr2, i might listen.

Haven't played a GTA since San Andres and will probably skip this for the 3rd straight generation. Don't hate the game just not for me. Will be interesting to see if it continues its insane sales next gen. Mind boggling that it's still always in the top 10 seemingly every month.

I think GTA5 single player has already already been moded as far as that engine will take it. It may well get close to what modders have done over the years but I don't think Rockstar would put in the 500,000 hours needed to match a fully modded load out (Number of hours a pure thumb suck guess) Time to move on but as long as the cash cow keeps ringing T2 will keep milking

The game needs better controls, tapping a button to sprint is some ps1 era stuff. Fix it!!

Still not clear enough for you? I’m going to go out on a limb here and say you’re STILL not getting it. You can try to argue semantics but if you need PlayStation plus to download and play it it is free to PlayStation plus members. Especially when you remember that every free to play game released on PlayStation DOES NOT require PlayStation plus to play.

Edit: it would be about the same as an ex psnow subscriber saying since they were able to download PS4 games onto their hard drives while being a subscriber they’ve gotten those gamesfor free forever despite losing access without psnow. It doesn't state that PS Plus is necessary to claim the game anywhere. It will be available to download from PS store for free for 3 months for every person who owns PS5 once the GTA Online PS5 edition is released. You clearly chasing a peanut here.

You will need PS plus to play the game, since it's online, however you can just use the PS plus work-around and don't even need to buy one for yourself.

Re watch the same video after the 4:00 Mark to see it clearly marked if you want to see it directly from Sony. PLAYSTATION PLUS is required for online play. For an online only game this means without that you have no game. How do you not understand something so fundamentally simple???

I can't believe you watched the video and yet you still didn't realise what my point was and how it only says you need ps plus to play GTA online, but to download it and claim it as your ownership you just need PS5. You don't need ps plus for it. Which also means you can add it to your library and keep it until maybe you will decide to buy ps plus 5 months later when GTA online is going to be paid again. Which is only free for 3 first months.

That said, how can you not see the difference? Also like I said before, there are ways how to bypass ps plus to play GTA online. You need to have a friend with ps plus active tho. It's legal and doesn't require anything other than make your PS4 primary for his account and then sign into his account and switch accounts once the game is loaded.

This way you can play GTA online without ps plus on PS4 and I am sure it will work on PS5.

Only recommend doing it with people who you trust or close friends tho, since it initially requires you to log in with his details on your PS4.

The method works well, been playing with friends who did this and never had issue.

Its been around since PS4 was released. It's not oversight. The only downside of that is that since you initially need to have friends account active on your PS4 as primary, he cannot use his PS4 as primary and that brings down to the issues like if he has multiregion accounts and wants to play games he bought from different accounts on the same console.

PlayStation 5 users get the ability to preload the game as I said earlier, nothing more. PlayStation 5 users with PS+ get gta online for free. FACT.

I miss rockstar of old. Since 2013 we only got 1 game this generation and I am sick of gta v. Does rockstar even know how to count to VI ?? The company creates some amazing games but they love to bleed them dry. Wheres a GTA IV remaster ? Midnight club? Rdr2 is good ish but I still would have preferred them to finish the current generation off with a new gta game even if that would have been something like liberty city stories for gtaV or something along those lines..
