Sony loves to surprise its fanbase, and it has just gone and done it again. The Japanese giant has just announced a new State of Play livestream focused entirely on upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Ghost of Tsushima. It takes place this Thursday at 1pm PT / 4pm ET / 9pm BST.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sid Shuman describes the showcase as "an extended look at new gameplay footage, including exploration, combat and more. The current cut is clocking in around 18 minutes, give or take." There will not be any PlayStation 5 reveals or announcements, however. Don't forget that the game has suffered a slight delay to 17th July 2020. Make sure to check back with us here at Push Square on the day for all the latest information and news.

So E3 is basically 2 months long this year! Game wasnt on my radar initially but Im very excited to see this in action once again!
well at least this game p[lay blow out will actually have game play it seems
Man today has been quite a hype day. word up son.
Buzzing for this!
Great news.
I really hope there's something good in this game to forget the bad taste of TLoU2.
If the complete 18 min SoP will be GoT-only i really expect a lot of real gameplay, with a lot of combat and exploration.
YES! I can't wait for this.
Ohh my, a gameplay reveal with actual gameplay? I'm shocked.
Finally a game worth investing in!
I think this the hurdle before PS5 stuff now. Get GoT gameplay out of the way, the marketing can look after itself which will leave the way clear.
Nice, I'm eager to see more of this.
👻 ghost of tshushima .oh yeah.cant wait.my most anticipated games this year.samuraiiii.word ☝ up son
There's certain elements of this game (lack of waypoints being the main issue for some) that I think will hurt it critically but I can't wait. Easily my most anticipated game the rest of the year, looking forward to this State of Play.
Hyped! Although it's 3 am on my country
Seriously think this one will be good but we haven’t seen much so looking forward to this. Definitely been a great day, word up son.
Well I'm all in
Looking forward to this, can’t wait to see more. Maybe we will get to know more about navigating the map seeing as there are no waypoints
Will this be actual "gameplay", or will it be Microsoft's definition of "gameplay", aka in-engine cut scenes?
Finally something. Some transparency and communication. I value that over PS5 announcements lol. But seriously, give us some of that.
@wiiware 3am here too. Thank god I am still not back at work! 😉
yeah, bring it on Playstation. Beast is awake.
I personally think Ghost of Tsushima is quite a self-explanatory game. But a deep dive is always appreciated. Can't wait to see more of Ghost in action.
Other companies/publishers should learn. Playstation doesn't let people down. We're gonna finally see some real gameplay.
Awesome.
@lacerz It will be actual gameplay. There'll even be a HUD I assume!
Very very excited for this. I'm buzzing more for this game than any other that's currently on the way. Can't bloody wait for Thursday.
Yessss! YESSSSS!
Sounds great. Maybe now Chris and Colin can stop being such buzzkills about this game.
Seriously Sony ghost of tsushima it doesn't release until July wouldn't it be smarter to do a deep dive on the Last of Us 2 that comes out on the 19th of june next month
@Makina
Have you played the TLOU2 yet?
😂😂
Very interested to see how the open world plays. Ironically the gameplay looks really fun even though it's going for a cinematic art at the same time.
This is THE game im most hyped for and super excited it's going to finally be released very soon but now I'm torn as to whether I should watch this or just go in blind..
YES!!!! I care much more about this than any other game right now. I cannot wait!!!
@Micwg Lol, oh well at least I'm not going anywhere in this situations, might as well watching it
Oh hell yeah. About time we learned more about this game. Let's go deep!
I really like that they're being perfectly clear about what this is. Around 18 minutes of Ghost of Tsushima. Nothing more, nothing less. Let's go!
Ghost of Toshiba
@Makina Oh I didn't know you played Last Of Us 2 in it's entirety yet...One of those people who saw Endgame Script, said it would suck, then enjoyed the movie upon release.
For those of you who mentioned the lack of a way point, there was some sort of mention of flower pedals blowing in the wind that act as a rough way point, which i think is a super cool idea.
There is youtube ad of state of play dated 1 week old now.
Edit, it didn't say date in the ad, but it clearly shows tlou2 gameplay and state of play logo
@Gmork___ Really? That so cool and clever.
@eumenes @Gmork___ that does sound great. The less hud the better my C9 was made for games like this
@Grimwood I'd Much Rather The Combat Be a Mix Of Onimusha And Tenchu With a Bit Of Bushido Blade Thrown In.
@potter32 TLOU2 Already had a couple of big previews that showcased it's gameplay so it doesn't really need it.
GoT on the other hand is a new IP that has to sell itself to people a bit more. Plus the last time we saw actual gameplay was nearly two years ago now.
IMHO this is how State of Play should be. Each State of Play one after another showing full 18, 30, etc. Minutes of gameplay for one game!
NICE! Even have the Art book on pre-order.
Why SONY does not needs to care when they talk about stuff. In 1 day they will create more Buzz than everyone else in the last 2 months.
Just like with the PS5 controller.
Really pumped to see more of this game!
@Gamer83 There’s a chance that the lack of waypoints was reported to be incorrect. OPM clarified when they reported on the game to have said some inaccuracies about it, but were not able to go into detail over what said inaccuracies were.
https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2020/04/15/ghost-of-tsushima-news-opm-inaccurate/
But luckily it looks like there’s a good chance we’ll get some clarification about it in 2 days. One thing is for certain, Sucker Punch have a ton of experience making open-world games. I highly doubt they are going to make a game where everyone is getting lost and not knowing where to go.
After this, we can finally expect the marketing of PS5 onwards. I hope they'll show us the box during this late of May.
@DeepSpace5D
Interesting. Doesn't bother me either way, I've become so reliant on waypoints I was interested to see how I might do in a game that doesn't give me the option to use them. It is something I thought a lot of reviewers might hold against the game but if it turns out waypoints are in the game, then I think there's a good chance this could score higher than any of the inFamous games did.
Oh absolutely I’m in the same boat. I’m so conditioned to having waypoints on mini-maps, and being able to set markers in open-world games. It’ll be interesting to see how Sucker Punch tackles this if they are going for a more cinematic, HUD-less display.
no matter how good this looks I think ill leave this for the PS5. Really enjoyed Sekiro and im sure this will be better
Exclusives 🤮
But they never really do stay exclusives for long See you in a year GoT!
Here's hoping for some proper gameplay to get my hype back.
@Skoda Who said this is similar to Dark Souls? It isn't!
I don't want to see it, I'm already trying to hold off for this to be my ps5 launch game. Avoiding spoilers is going to be hard enough.
@Octane what is it like then? its obviously not a new style of gaming. it copies something, but im just not sure yet what exactly... im guessing nioh, until i have played it to dismiss this. since nioh IS like dark souls, i kind of associate them together if that makes sense. BUT, we shall see
@Skoda It's not like Nioh either; those games all play a bit like Dark Souls. This is more like a Zelda game, or Horizon Zero Dawn.
