Looking for a top-notch sports game to keep you occupied during lockdown? NBA 2K20 is a snip at just £3.99 on the European PlayStation Store right now. The series may have its issues with microtransactions, but for less than an Uber ride you’ll get a full-length story campaign, a robust Franchise mode, and the best playin’ ‘ball on PlayStation 4.
Even if you’re not a huge basketball fan, we’d recommend giving this a go – especially if you enjoy sports in general. There are plenty of tutorials to help get you up to speed with the nuances of the game, and while the in-game economy is admittedly far too aggressive, you’ll easily get a dozen hours entertainment out of this without needing to invest an additional penny.

That’s cheap enough for me to maybe bite. Might not play any of the MTX modes but it’s worth it to dunk on my brother with the indomitable power of the mighty Shaq.
now that live is back with a bang it'll be interesting to see 2k's approach going forward.
I wont be giving this franchise a dime.
@daveofduncan Live is definitely not back with a bang lol! The last few have been pretty mediocre unfortunately, 2K really needs some competition in this space.
Looking forwards to 2k21 on the PS5 this year!
In casino they always give you some free drinks.
Too bad the US doesn’t have this awesome deal
They did this last year with 2k19. It was on sale for $3 and then a week later loading screens were substituted for full length ads. Presuming they are doing the same thing this year.
Thanks for that! Snapped up! I paid more than that for my tea! 😂
@Bagshot to be honest I would say probably not, if you're not interested in the sport you may stuggle with it. The controls can be daunting and its not as pick and play friendly as FIFA or even Madden imo. Without at least a slight interest in the sport I'd say pass even at the ridiculous price.
yeah but a haircut cost more in the game than the game itself lol
Good price! This even cheaper on Xbox if any of you are multi platform, £2.49. crazy price.
Im going to land this into my cart. I skipped on NBA game this year, been buying them day 1 since NBA 2K15 until this year when decided to make a break and wait until next gen, but for a fiver i can dig it. Best NBA game for me is still NBA 2K9 however.
@nessisonett my league mode is where it's at , the career mode was trash since like 2k16
Done, thanks for the heads up.
I have tried the game the previous year. I was somewhat strange to control. Yet the only games basketball games I have are old versions of NBA Jam and Live so who am I to judge... I am not that much in nba nowadays, I miss having euroleague or national teams in those games.
@Jayslow
They are doing the same thing. Got 2k19 for peanuts last year and will buy 2k20 the same way.
I play MyGM mostly with these games so i avoid the microtransactions entirely.
Mycareer and myteam is such a grind i wonder how many 100s of hours it takes to reach overall 99 without buying VC
@Netret0120
Yeah I cant even play the my careers stuff anymore. I just want to make a player with great stats, give him my name and drop him in the roster and play out a season dominating the league and breaking records. No inside in depth story cutscenes and slow progression for me, that off court drama stuff always sucks .
@Bagshot For four dollars, it’s a steal. You can “grind” the career mode (MyCareer) and not spend a dime. However they make it so that is very hard to do without spending money. As long as you have PS Plus, even. if you don’t like basketball, you’ll probably like this game.
Downloading now
@Bagshot I had NBA 2K16 with PS Plus a few years ago and loved every second of it. I'm from the UK and not a BBall fan by a long, long, LONG stretch and I thought it was a great game. For £3.99 what do you have to lose, really? Go for it!
@redd214 considering the state the franchise was in, I'd say its made a remarkable recovery.
@daveofduncan I guess it is remarkable that they actually released sequels considering how bad 14 was. But just in terms of quality there still a long ways away from threatening 2K, we will see how they bounce back next year
@redd214 2k are threatening themselves. ea took a break and come back. I think it was 18 I had with harden on the cover. Great career mode for a start.
@daveofduncan cool glad you enjoyed it!
I bought the game but don't regret it only because it's dirt cheap right now. I must say, the graphics are subpar, the animations as well. Last 2K game I played was 2K15 and I remember it looked great. I bought NBA Live 19 and, to me, it's much better in the graphics, animations and overall feel department. 2K has really been resting on its laurels, it seems. Too bad.
