Apex Legends PS4 PlayStation 4

Apex Legends, the free-to-play shooter from Respawn Entertainment, has been bubbling along nicely since its 2019 arrival. The developer has been keeping it going with regular content updates and new seasons, as with any service game worth its salt. As we approach PlayStation 5, a question must be raised about titles like these: will they make the leap to next-gen? If so, how? While we don't have all the answers, it seems EA's battle royale FPS will indeed make it onto PS5.

As spotted by GamesRadar, the publisher has posted a new job listing at Respawn. What's interesting about this page can be found within the description for the post. The studio is looking for a Senior Rendering Engineer "to push next-gen platforms and the PC to their limits on Apex Legends". While the console isn't mentioned by name, this strongly suggests the game is getting a version on PS5.

It's by no means an official confirmation, but it does appear safe to assume you'll be able to play a next-gen edition of Apex Legends at some point in the future. Hopefully we'll hear more soon.
