While we've all been beavering away at Final Fantasy VII Remake and Resident Evil 3, Dreams has been ticking along in the background. Media Molecule has just released patch version 2.10, so you can get the PlayStation 4 exclusive create-em-up bang up to date.
So, what's changed? Well, a nasty bug causing crashes has been squashed for starters. Other than that, the main change concerns a handful of Imp Quests, which have been made easier to accomplish.
Here are the full patch notes for update 2.10:
- Updated: Adjustments to certain Imp Quests, making them easier to complete and reducing the number of creations you'll need to publish.
- Set Them Free: You'll now only need to release one Public creation. Change also reflected in associated trophy.
- I Have An Idea: Only one piece of feedback is needed now to complete this Imp Quest. Change also reflected in associated trophy.
- You're A Contender: You'll only need to enter one Community Jam to complete this Imp Quest.
- Updated: More Info text is now displayed correctly in all languages for the Sun Shadow Scale vs Detail tweak.
- Other minor fixes and improvements
The update is a mere 100MB in size, so it won't take you long to get Dreams going on the latest version. Are you still making mad stuff in Dreams? Complete those Imp Quests in the comments below.

I really hope that this game will be in ps plus sooner or later, as a larger player and creator pool could make and play better games!
Should have been called Demos
Gonna get beat up on here for that...lol
I think it's a great idea but I'm one of the many people that played it a bit and themn just stopped. Most of what you'll play will be crappy, maybe a funny novelty at best, and you have to spend 100s of hours to actually get good enough to use it to its fullest potential of you're not already versed in this kind of thing.
It's great that it's so deep and versatile that it requires that kind of investment but it does mean most people are gonna move onto other things and won't be back because they'll have to relearn it all again.
@thefirst Totally agree and a
Im a Dreams fanatic. I only finished the main story yesterday, after owning the game pre release. The jumping from Art the bass player, to the 2 cute things, to a robot was done in a really bizarre way.
It does mention at the end the dream was personal to media molecule. So possibly the jazz side of things was a combination of the lead musician and an artist with a penchant for 50s America. The Robot was a graphic designers idea etc. But the mix came across as immature.
When Art has to find his Dragon there isn't much context to why he's in this bizarre world. Jumping from genre to genre. I quite liked the chase sequence and shoot em up near the end, but that was near the end.
The visuals can be fantastic at times, I was regularly wondering how the heck they managed to do stuff in engine. Then I reminded myself that these are a first party design team, Hideo Kojima spat our Death Stranding as an example, Guerilla made HZD. Media molecule made a jumbled mess with some great interludes, they needed someone to rein them in and go with either a more grounded experience rather than the surrealism, or a full game focused on the platforming.
It's the best thing made in the Dreams engine for sure (bar some of the left field mini games in the dreamiverse). But each element was way weaker than comparable games. I'm droning on a bit here as the design stuff is in a class of its own for console owners, but the campaign is unrewarding.
@thefirst An extremely superficial take on a game engine that allows you to make ANY type of game in ANY style. You need to work on your attention span or get back to COD
@ILikeStake No just no
@themcnoisy Stick to blockbusters, you're a consumer, not a creator
@Salt_AU Hate your negativity
@Matroska You're a casual. People in here are pretty much downers, never seen this negativity on any other site
Mmdreamqueen has collections of the best games on dreams. There is good stuff if you know where to look.
@thefirst I was in from the Beta and the childish tone was something that grated on me even then. It was said that the narration was just a placeholder and would likely change but they ran with it.
Wow, somebody sure got triggered by different opinions. If someone wants to makes game seriously, they'll learn Unity, UE4, make models in something like Maya. It's funny to have a tantrum and accuse others of being casual when Dreams is a relatively casual game creation engine compared to professional tools, all wrapped up in a childish presentation style. Nothing wrong with that, but it definitely undermines any claims of being a hardcore, serious creator.
@askjiir Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Not everyone has to like something. I love Dreams, but it was never going to be to everyone's tastes. Let's cool it and respect each other
@thefirst i called it before it released, and they killed off sackboy for this, its just sad.
@askjiir I like Dreams. The critique stands. The campaign is good in parts but way weird.
I've made a whole music album in Dreams which is fantastic. A few games and been part of a few projects.
You should join the discussion rather than being snide. It would be awful to see MM go to the wall.
@Triplexbee What a stupid thing to get hung up about
@Matroska That was just a lot of trollish BS, Dreams it's waaay easier than Unity and UE4 and sharing is instant and so is feedback. For anyone who like creating dreams, is a dream. Your negativity reek of someone who just like to complain for the sake of complaining. Pathetic
@TheBuzz @Quintumply Actually Sackboy is in Dreams
Dreams is amazing. I wish this was the kind of game that was played by millions instead of Fortnite and COD. People keep being a disappointment.
@askjiir If you can't respect the opinions of others, I'll have to enforce a ban. I don't want to do that, so please calm down.
@thefirst Dreams consist of thousands of games, you can't judge it on one game. Dream is what any artist makes it to be. if you have only played the story mode you can't possibly judge it fairly.
askjiir is this about Dreams anymore ?
Any 1 interested some excellent tutorials from a dedicated non patronising brit.

You can ram things down peoples throat till they get sick of it.
@TheBuzz 500,000 copies of dreams sold. Have you sold anything in your life?
@jess3a3 Crack
Yea, even the highest rated games will have people that don't like it, but I love Dreams so far. There are over a hundred good games (that I count) that total more that 40 hours of gameplay. So I thinks its well worth it, and that doesn't include short films, Music etc. Arts Dreams was amazing to me, but I understand why it wouldn't been everyone's cup of English tea. If you pay attention, the quality of dreams are constantly improving, so I don't think its fair to stick to nothing is good, or that it's only demos arguments. With so much to offer, its also a bit unfair to judge it all of games, and remember, not everyone prefers long games, some actually prefer the short experiences and minigames. With almost 500,000 players far without the typical mainstream marketing, I think Dreams is doing pretty well so far. The upcoming VR update, and future online multiplayer update should significantly add to the player base. Dreams sales so far are actually comparable to the first few LBP games at this point. Tip: Trending, and Most thumbs up are the worst categories to search for quality content. "MM pics" and "Recently streamed by mm" are your best bet (no copyrighted work there though).
Love to see them release "Dreams" as a pack-in for the PS5 similar to the way that Nintendo released "Sports" for the Wii. Few things would happen there. First, they get the product in a lot more hands day one. Two, many people that never saw it would become fanatics for it and either as surfers or dream creators. Last, it would give Sony access to some hidden talent that could contribute to their pool of developers for the indie space.
Just a thought.
