Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered has an offensively bad name, but it also has a controversial mission. Many of you will remember the furore surrounding the No Russian stage, which has allegedly prompted Sony Interactive Entertainment Russia to block the release. A translated statement from Activision Russia says that it’s looking forward to releasing the title in digital form for the PC and Xbox One later in the month.
The aforementioned mission depicts a shootout in an airport, which is obviously quite harrowing stuff. There is an option at the beginning of the game which allows you to skip it, however. Whether the publisher will be able to come to an agreement with the platform holder remains to be seen, but we’ll update you if we learn more.

To be fair it does feature the level in the Airport.
If it was Heathrow or JFK we would probably feel the same way.
Apparently every branch of Sony is braindead these days. As long as the game is rated appropriately this shouldn't be an issue and given there's an option to skip the mission, even more stupid on Sony's part.
If the russia goverment didn't have problem with it, sony should released the game.
@wiiware
It sounds like the Xbox and PC versions are good to go, right now all signs point towards the people at Sony just being imbeciles. Can't say I'm surprised.
I wonder if Russian devs will make a gaming counterpart to the No Russian campaign and will release it in the American markets.
Can Russian players create US or EU accounts or whatever and get the game that way if they want it? Or are they blocked from doing that too?
It's always interesting to see how news like this is received on different sites.
what an extremely liberal use of the word: "shootout"
that sh*t is a massacre.
@markkoo
If it was part of a good game I'd have no problem with it.
@Gamer83 - Xbox/PC isn't getting it yet. Timed PS4 exclusive until April 30th.
@themcnoisy I wouldn't. Im able to not personalize. If the roles were reversed, I would either just not play the game and vote with my wallet, or not care and enjoy the video game.
@markkoo if it's fun, I'll play it.
I thought Russians are known to be tough guys? Last years Modern Warfare’s level ‘Piccadilly’ featured a shootout in Piccadilly Circus with civilians being shot and blown up by suicide bombers, us English didn’t kick up a fuss about it.
@Gamer83 Man that’s sucks for ps russia gamers, wtf is sony doing, suddenly become too sensitive, censoring games and not releasing games in some region, heck even nintendo is cooler now since they don’t censor games anymore.
The level does not feature a "shootout", it features a massacre of civilians by terrorists, as someone else pointed out.
Wasnt the MW2 banned in Russia the last time?
To be fair i did not shoot the people and yes it was tasteless. But the thing in Paris was not so subtle either maybe its the age. Not telling anyone they should think btw.
