Shantae and the Seven Sirens, the latest game in WayForward's cult hit series, is coming to PlayStation 4 very soon indeed. The fifth adventure in the franchise is dancing its way onto Sony's console on 28th May 2020.
The brand new trailer, embedded above, gives us a quick overview of the story and some of what Shantae will be getting up to. She travels to an island paradise, but as you'd expect, things aren't as idyllic as they first appear, and the half-genie puts her vacation on ice to sort things out.
The developer says this latest game "combines the most popular elements from past Shantae titles" and features new transformations, a huge non-linear map, and more. A new collectable card mechanic will help change up the gameplay, and PS4 Pro owners will be able to take advantage of 4K support.

It's currently my second most anticipated title of 2020 after FF7R. If the PS4 version gets a physical release from LRG, I might get it digitally on Switch and physically on PS4.
I'm curious if the 4K upgrade on PS4 Pro will be visible, due to the cartoon style graphics. If the difference will be obviously enough, I'll prefer this version over my Switch's portability.
Pretty excited for this. Been waiting for a release date.
Nicee, day one on this. Shantae half-genie hero is the rare games that I platinum on ps4 (backed it on KS), can't wait for this game
Never played a Shantae game before but I've always liked the look of them... This one in particular looks quite fun!
Hated the last game opening was bad forced tutorial.
Forced to talk to so manny useless npc's.
Totally not a fun sidescroller.
Definitely Day 1
The gameplay in that trailer looks great. This seems set to be another wonderful Shantae game.
Nice but should I wait for Physical and if it's gonna add DLC like the last game maybe I should wait for the Complete version
@Ralizah I hope too see it released physical in normal stores the shipping is criminal now.
@Flaming_Kaiser I'm never a fan of limited print runs for games, but I guess that's better than a game never getting a physical print run at all.
I really want to play Half Genie Hero but it's really expensive on the PS Store and never, ever ends up in any of the sales.
@Ralizah I got a lot of physical copies i would have never had any other way. And i agree about the limited thing. But if i look at Square Enix i wow they cant even release FF8 physical for PS4. And too give a extra kick in the ***** they release it on Switch. 😢
