It’s a strange time for retail PlayStation 4 releases, with much of the world in lockdown and most stores closed. That hasn’t stopped Blu-ray copies of Final Fantasy VII Remake leaking ahead of the hotly anticipated exclusive’s 10th April release date, however. Reddit is awash with photographs of the title already in consumers’ hands, meaning that spoilers could follow.

We’d advise exercising caution, as inevitably information about the game is going to seep its way online. Ironically, publisher Square Enix has admitted that coronavirus is going to “affect the distribution” of its upcoming title, meaning physical copies may actually arrive later than anticipated. Maybe consider going digital on this one if you haven’t already pre-ordered.

I go digital with almost everything, but I really want my physical special edition, so I think I'll probably just wait (unless the wait time is absurd; an extra week of waiting is fine, but not if Amazon becomes completely incapable of shipping it out for weeks or a month).
Physical on this one 100%
i'm still getting it physical because one i'm a physical media person and two, is FINAL FANTASY and i will ALWAYS go physical with that series unless i have no other choice
but saying that i am keeping an eye on it and while Amazon have not given me a firm release date i will know a few days before release if it will get here on time or not
if it wont and it seems too long i'll buy the digital version as well as the physical one because that's going to be sitting on my shelf with the other FF games
Mine's coming from GAME and they have a notice on their site saying the deliveries are unaffected. Still, Royal Mail are saying they're affected by it and no longer guarantee 1-2 days for 1st class delivery. I just got Pirate Warriors 4 delivered a day late despite being sent out 2 days before launch.
@FullbringIchigo Depending on where you live, i recommend cancelling your preorder with Amazon and going with a dedicated videogame supplier. In the UK i am using Shopto.net for FF7. I ordered Persona 5 Royal from them and it arrived yesterday!
The problem with Amazon is that they are rightly prioritising other goods, so there is a longer wait on things like games. So if you want a game on release day, id strongly recommend looking around
I got screwed by this leak. Was watching some youtube videos on it and the autoplay button was on.
Thankfully i paused the video when i started seeing footage i hadnt seen before but it was a pretty big spoiler.
Stay safe yall
@Rob_230 i tried actually BUT i can't because for with the added security my bank uses i need to have a code sent to a phone to input the first time i use a new service BUT while the bank has my current phone number they wont let me use it and only show an option for my old phone number
i have contacted them but they said they have no idea why my current number wont show and that they would look into it when they can but given the current crisis that's not gonna happen soon
long story short Amazon is pretty much the ONLY place i can buy from right now until this is sorted out
that's why i'm thinking Digital version for day one and the physical version can go in my collection later
@LN78 not used paypal since it was hacked once and someone tried to buy over a grands worth of stuff with my details
luckily i was warned ahead of time by paypal and canceled my cards and everything but i have a one strike rule when it comes to things like this, it's why i don't use my details on PSN anymore
like i said i have Digital to fall back one for day one as a last resort and there is plenty of time left, 2 weeks in fact
Fingers crossed mine shows up lol
I would go digital but don't really want to pay £18 extra for a standard edition... If people are getting theirs early though maybe mine won't be delayed after all.
@FullbringIchigo aww man that sucks. I hope your bank can resolve it soon. My mum had a similar issue trying to reset her gmail password recently. Its a nightmare to fix. Hope you can get it sorted soon
@Rob_230 yeah hopefully but even if i have to wait i know it will get here eventually
i have already waited years for this, what's a few more days
@FullbringIchigo o totally! I still remember picking the original game at a local independent game store all those years ago. I knew next to nothing about the game, or the lasting impact it would have on my gaming life. I am so ready for this! Naysayers cant do anything to dampen my excitement for this
GOOD. Now lets get some spoilers. Square deserves this for delaying the game when it was already finished.
I've tried demo and must say, fighting mechanism is totaly screwed up. Let me know, if there can be classic turn based combat option (in demo it wasn't) in this case, I don't rush to buy this game, because of these fighting system, the demo itself seemed unfunny to me. 🤔
It's a good time to switch to digital everything
Your article says that photographs meaning more than one photograph has been leaked I can only seem to find one
Always go physical copy then if you want to sell after you can get a few quid.
@stuzster yeah Bro Right on the more you wait the cheapeer they get Farming Dynasty cost £44 on release in Jan now it is £14 do I feel sorry for the ones that bought it at £44 er no way.
I can't wait to play this. Hopefully, SE just breaks street date and we can all get it a little early.
my strategy when leaks happen is to avoid reading anything or watching videos. This usually works for titles I know are gonna be good and suit my tastes. RE3 for instance is no question going to be a great game and something RE fans like me will love anyway.
I usually leave reading reviews until after if played the games. Or if it’s a game outside my normal comfort zone I’ll have a skim over reviews.
@stuzster yeah I agree. It’s really infantile behaviour. Same with people who ‘need’ to beat a game in one sitting the day it’s released, in order to have some imaginary internet bragging rights.
FOMO is a concept I will never understand.
@djlard the combat is something I’m worried about. I haven’t played the demo because reasons, but I’m worried the combat will be similar to FF15 and that’s not a good sign
@Andyhunter132 what? What exactly is your point? Square should be ‘punished’ now?
To be honest I'm deep in an Animal Crossing hole so will probably save myself from seeing spoilers that way. Still can't wait til the 10th......excited.
@Arnna It's not like XV at all. I hate the combat in XV but in VIIR it's great. It's everything they were presumably going for with XV but utterly failed to achieve. In XV you just dumbly hold down Circle while sometimes dumbly holding down Square. The lock on is also awful. In VIIR you choose specific moves for the situation, carefully dodging or blocking when needed, and have to keep an eye on the ATB metre to see when you can use your more decisive attacks. All while building up a stagger meter on the enemy (which different things like elemental weaknesses do more) so you can put them into a staggered state and do extra damage.
You'll switch to other characters as they're better suited to certain things (e.g. Barret vs flying or distant enemies) or have the spell you need to exploit a weakness, or to buff the party. You'll find things like Barret kicks ass against the Scorpion boss who keeps leaping away, whereas Cloud dominates aggressive melee enemies because of his ability to parry them.
It feels just like I hoped it would. Much more involved and thoughtful, not only more than XV but even the original where most of the time you just clicked Attack when someone's bar filled up.
*****People FYI, I work for Royal mail and im just letting you all know that this game is released on Bank Holiday Friday which Is when no mail goes out so you will all be waiting till Saturday to receive this. I've ordered with shop to and have selected DPD which is extra but guarantees on the release day delivery, as they still work bank Holidays****
@Matroska FYI dude royal mail don't deliver on a bank holiday and ghats when this is released. Just letting you know
@LN78 they do
@Arnna I cannot say, because... actually I didn't get how to fight in FF15. I just smash some buttons and something happened and enemy dies. Total chaos... must go to tutorial again.
The only thing I do in FF7R during combat is watching down-right corner of screen (sometimes down-left corner). Actually I don't remember much more from that demo and that is really sad... 😞
@Matroska and that was "that" fun in original ff7. You most of times just choose "attack" but you had enough time to choose something else. In demo of ff7r "normal" attack seemed to me it is something like necessary animation, that only makes combat to look non-static with less than minimal damage.
@Arnna Punished? no but they will now see what their greedy decisions have led to. A completely bungled and botched release.
