Final Fantasy is no stranger to curious crossovers – remember when Noctis and gang when on a quest to create the ultimate Cup Noodles? – so this real-world promotion for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake probably won’t come as much of a surprise. Purchase specially branded bars of Butterfinger between 3rd March and 14th May, and you’ll be eligible for some bonus in-game content. You can also choose Baby Ruth or Crunch candy if you prefer.
All you need to do is snap a photograph of your receipt and either email it or text it to the confectionery manufacturers. You’ll have to purchase multiple bars within the same transaction to be eligible, with the minimum two, which will also net you a dynamic Tifa theme for your PlayStation 4. Here are the other rewards:
- Midgar Bangle: 100,000 will be available and you need to buy two bars to get it.
- Shinra Bangle: 50,000 will be available and you need to buy four bars to get it.
- Corneo’s Armlet: 50,000 will be available and you need to buy six bars to get it.
- Superstar Belt: 25,000 will be available and you need to buy eight bars to get it.
- Mako Crystal: 25,000 will be available and you need to buy ten bars to get it.
Are you willing to eat this much chocolate under the condition that you’re saving Midgar in the process? Chomp down in the comments section below.

Butterfinger sword? How stupid, why would I ever want to
"...which will also net you a dynamic Tifa theme for your PlayStation 4."
do anything else other than eat some delicious Butterfingers?
Hmmm, I’ll be in the us during that time but I’m guessing the codes won’t work for eu version
I just love it when they do promotions that only apply to one country and ignore the other 195 or so.
I've also heard that 10 bars of Butterfingers do more health damage than Knights of the Round.
Harrr! Eat choclit, Shinra scum!
Yeah, I was right, they're going to milk this one to no end
Time to buy some Butterfingers!
March 3rd was the original release date right? Guess they couldn't be bothered changing the promotion dates.
Not a fan of Butterfinger or Baby Ruth but we can eat 8 Nestle's Crunch bars in an afternoon.
Here's the required sizes, no cheating w/ the mini packs.
Butterfinger bar, 1.9oz or 3.7oz
Crunch bar, 1.55oz or 2.75oz
Baby Ruth bar, 1.9oz, 2.1oz, 3.3 oz or 3.7oz
Seems like too much effort though, should have just put the codes in random wrappers like normal promotions.
Items are listed w/ a retail value of $1.99 each so maybe they'll be available later in game? Gotta love those microtransaction DLC.
@Octane
So, not available in Europe?
Those white chocolate Crunch bars are fit!
Cool promotion. My wife's guilty pleasure is Butterfingers so I'll have her buy a bunch lol. Not interested in the theme really so when it releases I'll just post it here for one of you guys to enjoy
@rjejr So they're basically edible Amiibos, great...
@Octane "Yeah, I was right, they're going to milk this one to no end"
Milk chocolating it to no end, in fact.
@Matroska "The Edible Amiibos" is my new mariachi band name.
yeah but I want the themes without having to eat the chocolate
@BoshBish We'll probably get some version later where you have to buy 10 bags of Wotsits or something. As for the theme, you could just download that Tifa pic off the internet and set it as your theme anyway.
@johncalmc I just googled it and apparently it is possible to buy chocolate and not eat it. Thanks Google!
@Matroska it's Ferrero that owns those brands, right? Why not put them in Ferrero Rocher for Europe?! Put Roche on the marketing Just want the dynamic Tifa theme is all...
heh. at least the coleman tie-in made sense in final fantasy xv from a contextual point of view. this new promotion has zero thought put into it and comes across as very desperate. hopefully there won't be any butterfinger product placement in the game
Hope the kids like months old candy for Halloween, haha. I sure won't be eating it.
A rather cute promotion, I think. Crunch Bars, Baby Ruths, and Tifa theme, here I come!
So now, product placement/advertising is a “crossover”?
I've always loved Butterfingers. Never had an excuse to buy them in bulk before, but this seems like a worthy cause!
@Matroska I for one appreciate this sass
As far as I can tell, the Butterfinger website is absurdly devoid of any detail on what these prizes actually are/do. I'm no fan of this promotion - this game is sliding from bad to worse on its DLC usage shockingly quickly - but it'd be nice to get an updated article when anyone can figure out just what it is Butterfinger is asking people to buy its stuff for.
Unnecessary campaign. Theme looks nice but buying candy for some weapon skins seems pointless especially since the weapons you get will be replaced 30 minutes into the story which is often the case with dlc in FF.
I'm British and have never heard of the Butterfinger brand so I guess it must be a brand sold only in the USA, plus I'm diabetic so if I could get my hands on some I couldn't eat them 🤤😭
Ah nothing more sad then DLC diabetes. So we pay to get DLC and they get free adverts in the gsme.. 😔
I for one like the promo idea. BUT... I do see everyones' points on this. I'm only doing this for the candy bar sword though. I don't personally care for the theme as Tifa isn't really my favorite... Yet I don't see anything on where it says how many candy bars you need to actually get it. And as oppose to eating all those candy bars yikes. I only ate one and gave the rest to my friend and his dad.
Are you seriously calling this a “crossover”? This is a freaking add, downloaded to our consoles and you guys call it a “promotion” or “crossover”. This doesn’t bring us anything of value to the game...
It’s like rejoicing over getting a new adware on your computer...
