We all knew it was coming, and here it is. DLC character Leroy Smith has been dominating Tekken 7 since he released near the end of last year, and now it looks like he's being nerfed rather heavily. The balance update arrives as part of patch 3.20, which also adds 'My Replay and Tips' functionality, allowing players to watch their matches back and have the game give them tips on how to improve. It's available to download now on PS4.
Anyway, if you're just here to see how badly Leroy's been hit, be sure to check out the full list of character balance adjustments. In short, a lot of Leroy's damage has been toned down and many of his moves have been made less safe. Hopefully this update brings peace back to the world of Tekken 7 -- especially after Evo Japan 2020 was a low point for the game's competitive scene.
What are your thoughts on Leroy? Is it about time that he got nerfed? Tell us it didn't have to go down like this in the comments section below.

People still aren't content, just check the Tekken subreddit, he's still got much of his op moves left. Not the biggest problem for me, I'm only a red rank and it doesn't bother me all that much but it severely influences the tournament scene.
@Amusei Yeah it looks like he'll still be the best character in the game even with these nerfs. But knowing Bamco they'll nerf him bit by bit over the next few months. Hopefully he's finally balanced by the time the TWT kicks off in April.
@Amusei Im happy when i pull off a few moves after intensive training. 😆
@ShogunRok I guess we'll see, still they should've known of that when they released him, but he was so hyped up, perhaps they felt the need to make him op so casual players had a better experience. I just hope they fix it quick enough, Tekken was doing so well and still is one of the most balanced fighting games out there.
@Flaming_Kaiser I feel you, it took me long and hard to get where I'm at now. I have a Mighty ruler and a Tekken god friend who I play offline with every now and then. I don't think I would still be playing Tekken if not for them. It's the most fun when playing against your friends, that's where the game really shines for me.
@Amusei Jisr started it up but im really dissapointed that their is a real arcademode with endings too. 😩
Its a pity a lot of developers leave this out. Thats why i loved MK and Injustice 2 the most this generation. Storymode and a Arcademode with character endings and solid online.
@Flaming_Kaiser Tekken 7 is very light on single player content. You have the story mode, which I really didn't enjoy, it has a cheap ass boss fight at the end and the most sleep inducing narrator ever, than there's treasure mode, outside of that, there isn't really anything that stands out. It's definitely made with online as its main focus. I would also love to see team battle back, it baffles me that it still isn't in there, when it's been in every single Tekken that I can remember.
@Amusei @Flaming_Kaiser In hindsight it seems crazy that the developers would pour so much time and effort into a full story mode when in reality, fans would rather just have a better arcade mode with character endings like Tekken has always had. I know I'd much prefer that.
@ShogunRok Yes! The story mode was really disappointing and mainly focused on the Mishimas, I can barely remember it tbh. But that narrator was so bad, it's laughable. I have no idea why they hyped it up as much as they did, I was expecting something along the lines of Mortal Kombat's story mode. The arcade ending from the older games were really cool and fun, at least we can unlock them in the gallery
@Amusei Now i know whh you said that you only play it because of friends. Its kind of nasty asking more and more with multiple seasonpasses / characterpasses and giving less. I really hate it when they put classic characters in the seasonpass. 😢
@Flaming_Kaiser I feel what you're saying, but they never planned beyond the first season pass if I recall correctly. Tekken 7 just happened to do so well, they added more content, even though Harada said returning legacy characters would be free, I don't think he had much say in the matter of that. I've put about some 700 hours into Tekken so far, so it is more than worth it for me. Even though I only play a few characters. I like to have them all and to support Tekken, it is the only fighting game I am invested in and play somewhat competitive.
@ShogunRok No disrespect too the developers. But look at Injustice 2 cool storymode and a simple arcademode with simple endings its a brilliant game. Even unlockables which you can unlock without paying a dime awsome game.
@Amusei Thats a lot i wanted too say i want a complete edition but no arcademode i rather go play Injustice 2 again. 😋
Oh and SFV i dont know what Edition coming soon. With a lot more content. 😉
@Flaming_Kaiser Hopefully we get a lot more single player stuff in Tekken 8. I think one of the reasons Tekken 7 is quite bare-bones is because it didn't have a huge budget, whereas games like Injustice 2 are backed by massive companies and a lot of money.
But Tekken 7's been a big success for Bamco so Tekken 8 should be a lot more fleshed out. No excuse if it isn't.
@ShogunRok I hope so never like too see a game fail. But making more is not a sure thing when talking about improved quality games.
@ShogunRok Time will tell 🤞 still, Tekken 8 is a long way off, there's a pretty big chance we'll even get a season 4. Tekken 7 still has much life in it.
