The Official PlayStation Blog has released the results for its Game of the Decade community poll. Naturally, only games that have featured on PlayStation platforms count, and we reckon that it's a pretty solid top 20.
Here's the full list:
- The Last of Us
- God of War (2018)
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
- Horizon: Zero Dawn
- Bloodborne
- Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
- Marvel's Spider-Man
- Persona 5
- Dark Souls
- Call of Duty: Black Ops II
- NieR: Automata
- Death Stranding
- Red Dead Redemption
- Mass Effect 2
- Fortnite
- Batman: Arkham City
- Resident Evil 2 (2019)
It's not easy picking out a single game as the best release of the last ten years, but this is the second time that The Last of Us has been crowned Game of the Decade in the past 24 hours (at the time of writing). Naughty Dog's immensely emotional adventure was also dubbed Game of the Decade by Metacritic users. It's safe to say that The Last of Us: Part II should be popular, then?
As for the rest of the list, it's perhaps no surprise to see so many PlayStation exclusives make the cut given the audience. It's also worth noting that Push Square gave all top three titles an incredibly rare 10/10. We must be onto something, right?
What do you think of this list? Whether you agree or disagree, tell us all about your Game of the Decade in the comments section below.

The witcher 3 easily
For a decade, that's not a bad list of games.
For AAA that i played on PlayStation 3/4 this past decade my top 5 would be in no order: Skyrim, GoW 18, Horizon, TLoU and Spidey. Honorable mentions would go to Mass Effect 2, RDR, Sleeping Dogs and Just Cause 2. Indie scene would wreck my list though lol. Some little gemz hiding everywhere.
No persona 4 golden. That angers me >:C
Nah JK, it is my all time favourite game though.
No offense but that's a better list than the one from pushsquare, just remove Fortnite for any game from your taste like Monster Hunter World Iceborne for me and it's perfect
Here we go again.
Hopefully the movie-game trend dies out.
It'll make sense if it's an unordered list.
@GKO900 Yea that top 10 is more believable than Pushsquare's. I mean theirs was also solid till... PT...pfft. I mean a demo I can't even get to try is better than a whole Red Dead Redemption 2. Seeing both RDR2 and RDR make this Top 20 speaks volumes!
@TheArt @GKO900 Come on lads, we're not explaining Push Square's Game of the Decade again are we? Very different criteria between our list and this fan-voted one.
1 and 2 are probably my fave games of all time. Spidey, Arkham City and Horizon are right up there too.
The top 3 are pretty accurate for me, though depending on the day I may switch around the order.
I love the Last of Us. I've never felt more connected to two characters in a video game. Wonderfully written and performed.
Witcher 3 is either my favorite RPG of all time, or very near the top.
The new God of War is easily my favorite of the series. I loved the reinvention. I loved the father/son dynamic. I love that it wasn't a hard reboot and is a continuation taking place in the same, albeit different part of the world.
Still some games I need to get to on this list.
Not surprised with Last Of Us being number 1-my favourite Sony game. A very underrated game this gen was Dying Light-brilliant game & would have been nice to see it on that list.
The Last of Us is my favorite game of all time, followed by Persona 4: Golden, which I’m sad didn’t make this list but I understand why. Regardless, what a hell of a decade of gaming. I’m excited for the next ten and beyond.
Last of us is a masterpiece.i play it on ps3.and got it on my ps4 pro.God of war and grand theft auto 5 is legendary.best games and franchises ever word up son
@ShogunRok 😆 well it's hard to forget when these Game of the Decade articles constantly reminds us. I get it Pushsquare's was about games that made an impact and the list was SOLID except for the inclusion of one demo. RDR influenced Witcher 3 and others, and since part 2 released in the same decade, would've been perfect if the latest iteration - RDR2 - represented.
That's a quality list. It's easy to nitpick lists but there isn't anything too wonky here.
Outside of Black Ops 2, all those are games are 3rd person.
I approve.
@Akurusu Hopefully the trend of people moaning about "movie-game" dies out.
I would put dishonored in that list.amazing game.and 🐉 dragon dogma.word up son
Monster Hunter must be criminally under-rated to not even make the top 20. It's easily top 5
As much as I'm liking the Witcher 3, I'm not sure it's aged well. Combat and movement is so .... muddy? Clunky isn't really the right word, but it's not responsive and just weird. I wouldn't disagree with it being in the top 20, but maybe not 3?
Never liked the word blog reminds me too much of the word bog.
@TheArt
Crying again are we???
My top 20 PS games in rough but not necessarily exact order might be something like this:
Bloodborne
MLB the Show
Driveclub
Shovel Knight
Super Mega Baseball
Everybody's Golf
Darkest Dungeon
Dark Souls
Dark Souls 2
Dark Souls 3
Witcher 3
Arkham City
Arkham Knight
God of War
Nioh
Spiderman
Motorstorm Apocalypse
Kingdoms of Amalur
Celeste
Super Meat Boy
This was a quick best attempt, but I think it's pretty accurate. I'm not certain of the last five, and for example some of the Uncharted games or maybe other titles could debatably be substitutes. I didn't include the Crash or Spyro remakes or things like Pinball Arcade or retro games, as those were re-releases (but some of those would otherwise be on the list).
The Dark Souls games could have been higher, but I vastly preferred Bloodborne and Demon's Souls (which sadly couldn't make the list, as it released in 2009).
If we were going by overall games of the decade, I'd guess about half of them would be Nintendo games.
Needs a Tomb Raider on there I reckon
Marvel's Spider-Man easily for me <3.
@ShogunRok To be fair, I don’t feel PT was ever properly defended. The only games you guys actually said it influenced were Layers of Fear 1&2, which while seem like good games with good reception, hardly rocked the industry or amount to decent evident for something being a game of the decade. Especially when it’s had years and years to let the influence be shown.
My list would look pretty different.dark souls, RE7, Bloodborne, super meat boy, dark souls 2, Nioh
