Nex Machina PS4

Housemarque, the developer of PlayStation 4 classics such as Resogun and Alienation, has been working on a Battle Royale title for the past couple of years called Stormdivers. The project has looked suitably okay every single time it has been shown to the public, but now the developer has announced that development of the title has been put on hold in aid of a secret AAA game the team is working on. Better yet, it's expected to be revealed soon -- potentially at the assumed upcoming PlayStation 5 reveal event.

In a new post on the studio's blog, Mikael Haven broke the news, saying: "So now we are focused on delivering our most ambitious and biggest game to date, putting every other project on hold, including the development of Stormdivers." He then goes on to state that what the team is working on in secret will define the next evolution of Housemarque -- confident in the fact that its reveal will surprise fans.

That announcement also doesn't sound like it's too far away. Haven claims: "The time is drawing ever closer when our publishing partner will reveal what we are working on, with the launch coming after that." The developer has always had close ties with Sony, so could this be shown at the supposed PlayStation Meeting next month? It's definitely possible, the platform holder will want to bring out the big guns when it shows off its next console, but the only thing we can really do for now is wait.

Still, it sounds like exciting times ahead for Housemarque. What do you hope the studio is working on? Let us know in the comments below.
