Update: Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red has responded to this rumour, which originally suggested that the game's recent delay to September was due to significant issues with the current-gen versions of the title.
Posting on the official forums, Benzenzimmern of CD Projekt Red says: "Of course we're optimizing for the Xbox One, and for the PlayStation, and for the PC, because that's what you do in the last stretches of game development. While the game is made, lots of things are unoptimized, because they're all in flux, changing, and still not finished."
The post continues: "So simple answers like "They delayed the game because of X" might make for a good rumor, but don't hold a lot of truth. There's always many reasons. Among them, and I can speak for myself, simply fixing bugs, so the game is as polished as possible."
"No hidden agendas, just working on making the game better."
So there you have it, CD Projekt Red is basically saying that the rumours are a load of nonsense. While Cyberpunk 2077 has indeed been hit with a hefty delay, the official word is that the development team is simply focused on making it as polished an experience as possible. Let's hope the game lives up to expectations later this year.
Original story: In case you haven't heard, Cyberpunk 2077 was hit with a pretty substantial delay recently. The open world role-playing game was pushed from April to September, with developer CD Projekt Red stating that the additional development time would allow for a much more polished product. But according to Borys Niespielak, a supposed Polish insider, current-gen consoles are the main reason for the delay.
Niespielak speaks about the situation on a popular Polish podcast, which has since been translated into English. He basically says that CD Projekt Red was running into real trouble when it came to getting Cyberpunk 2077 to perform on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One -- the latter especially. It's unclear whether Niespielak is referring to just the base systems or the Pro and X as well.
Apparently, the developer had a deadline on solving these issues: if things weren't fixed by January 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 would have to be delayed -- and so here we are. This is a rumour that, at least on a surface level, does seem feasible. We can't speak for the reliability of Niespielak, but he's clearly confident enough to appear on camera and talk about what he's been told.
When Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay was first revealed, many -- including ourselves -- said that it had to be a next-gen release. Since then, the title's definitely been on the receiving end of a "downgrade" or two -- but that's mostly just the nature of game development. Still, based on everything that we know, Cyberpunk 2077 is a hugely ambitious project -- it certainly wouldn't surprise us if there is indeed some weight to this rumour.
Since publishing this article, God of War director Cory Barlog did tweet that "every game runs badly until you optimise for the hardware in the final push before gold". While true, it would appear that the optimisation process is taking longer than CD Projekt Red expected, hence it's been unable to hit its original deadlines. Let's hope everything gets cleaned up before September, eh?

Another reason to add to why I'll be waiting and getting this on PS5 instead.
*collapses onto knees and yells into the skies above
DAMN YOU PHILLLL
It makes sense since CDPR is trying to take advantage of 130+ consoles already in people's homes. The PS5 and XBSX will be pricey for many right out of the gate, so this is a good move.
Part of me kiiiiiiiiind of wishes that Cyberpunk 2077 was just a PS5 game. Not saying I fully believe this rumour, but it's the kind of thing that does make you wonder how many corners developers are forced to cut just because of dated hardware.
In Poland, gamers hold Borys on the same regard as Jason Schreier so I would guess this is true, and something I predicted a while back on here funnily enough
@ShogunRok I said to many people I think it has an outside chance of being a 2021 Next Gen Title and I would prefer it that way.
Sucks for those who can't afford a Next Gen console but will be miles better for the fans.
Oh God, we're not going to end up with another downgrade controversy are we?
@Gatatog I think we areeeee
Catch 22. 150 mil current gen consoles for a potential sale. However, they knew what the console specs were so nobody to blame but themselves
@ankehuber It was gonna be a day 1 but yep, I think you are right. Will be cancelling my pre-order.
Not surprising. At this point, they should just launch the downgraded current gen port alongside the PS5 and XSeX in December.
I'll be playing this on either an upgraded PC or a PS5. Not touching the PS4 version.
@Nyne11Tyme They lied about downgrading TW3 until they were more or less forced to due to fan backlash so this is no surprise to me.
I still adore their games though.
if you start a game on those systems I find it very doubtful that right near the end it all fell down!+ after the first game the Witcher 3 they should have been in a much better position to make the next one so this holds no weight for me.
Chill guys. Luckily we have you Push Square to test the game and give us an informed opinion on whether buying it on PS4 is a good idea, so I'm not worried. The only thing that bugs me is if the PRO will also be affected as much (I have one obviously).
Ps4 cpu, which is 7 years old cpu, is considered weak even in 2013, it's a laptop cpu. If cdp serious about making cyberpunk an ambitious game, just forget ps4 and xbox one, release it on next-gen system this holiday. I'm sure the game will be a must have for ps5/xbox next owners and will sells a lot of copy.
Edit: Or focus on next-gen console first and later downport it to ps4. I seriously can't believe cdp didn't have next-gen version ready.
People are surprised at this when most modern phones in 2019 have more powerful CPUs than the base gen consoles.
@wiiware naa if you start a game on those systems they will be built around them this is a weak excuse.
Honestly, dont understand why developers show off and announce release date so early, why not wait till around 6 months before release when you have a better understanding of where the game development is. At least then its better for them and for gamers who dont have to wait years after first info to play the game. Think i might wait for reviews on this game to see how its running, think people are going to be disappointed with this game, have a funny feeling it will be a massive mess on release despite this delay
My friend said he isn't buying a game this year until the ps5 comes out because he knows they are gonna be cross gen. Whilst I admire his restraint I dont think I can wait that long
BTW:
Speaking in a podcast, which you can watch below, Niespielak says that the original Xbox One console is not powerful enough to run the game properly and apparently, Cyberpunk 2077 performance on the console is "extremely unsatisfactory".
@Daleaf I think so much hype has freaked them out! they no if it is not as good as people keep making out the rep will take a huge dent. this has had to much smoke blown its way before we even played it.
That's a bummer if true. But still, Day one, PS4.
Cory Barlog has has just twitted a response to this very article,
'EVERY game runs badly until you optimize for the hardware in the final push before gold'
I think anyone interested in how games are made or why these delays happen should watch 'Raising Kratos' and get a better understanding of just how complex these games we love are to actually put together.
@David187 totally agree m8, i wasnt even that bothered when it was first shown, but so many trailers and info and people talking it up, was starting to get hyped myself lol, but this last week has just confirmed that i think they have just over stated everything and think panic has started to kick in, might actually wait for the ps5 version when the confirm it.
Reminds me of that first trailer of Watch_dogs and how the game didn't turn out quite like that
So, both Sony and MS have said in the past - all PS4 and Xbox games would run on all systems, new and old, Pro, X, etc - but what about a "next Gen" game, PS5 and XS, having a version released only on Pro and X1X? Sort of semantics, but would it fly?
CDPR announces the PS4 and X1 versions are canceled, releases PS5 and XS versions, then 2 or 3 months later releases downgraded version that will only play on PS4 Pro and X1X.
I do think if they could get it to run on Pro they should be able to get it to run on Slim, but the original Xbox One just may not have what it takes. I mean sure they could get it to run, look at a the games Switch has had nobody thought possible, but when you look at some of them it shows.
At some point I do think MS will drop the original Xbox One support, it's just too far behind, and they haven't really sold a that many anyway. Better to forge ahead, and X1X is better.
Not a surprise really. I'm so ready for next gen...
@BearsEatBeets That is an amazing doc and is why I am not as panicked about this, as GOW was in a terrible state till the very last few months of it's cycle.
I am sure Cyberpunk 2077 will come out and be good but I think it will be downgraded just like TW3
I am now very torn about whether to keep my PS4 pre-order in place, or cancel and wait for PS5.
@BearsEatBeets cheers m8 was actually thinking of something to watch tonight, thought i might rent this, popped over to the ps store and to my suprise it was free. And just finally finished god of war on monday took me three attempts to actually finish it got it on release day lol
Many games come out not running very well on consoles, and most of the time things can be resolved with an ssd. The Division 2, Kingdom Come are just two examples..
The next gen will have ssd, so, one more reason to wait..
I'm just speculating about the ssd and cyberpunk, btw.
Does that mean loading times will be less excruciating than the Witcher 3 ones?
Omg I predicted that!!!

The base PS4 and Xbox versions must be appalling. Dragging the whole thing down.
Wait a bit. Port to PS5, get the proper experience. No way can a game this dense look good on this gens base consoles. CDPR have a reputation to protect, moving around at 15fps would be bad in the long run.
Go me waaa hayyy (first time I've guessed and got it right in like forever)
It should have either been out years ago or been a next gen title from the get go. Now it just feels dumb. If a ps4 version is all that's out by the time the PS5 releases, well then of course I'll have to get that version. But it's hard getting quite as excited for the game, knowing it could have looked and played a lot better out of the box. It feels like too much of a wasted opportunity
Next gen version it is then.
From what I'd seen of it I did wonder how the base PS4 was going to cope, let alone the Xbox One S. The sooner we know the next gen plans the better
CDPR are in a hard spot with this.
You don't wanna make it Next Gen exclusive as you are missing out on 130m+ potential sales, but you don't want to tarnish your reputation which will jeopardise future releases and the IP itself which CDPR have admitted they are riding on a bit.
I trust in CDPR to deliver a great product, but it may be a very downgraded one or one we don't see till 2021.
The consoles are just prep work for the eventual Switch port.
@Daleaf for me, thats exactly why there isnt a place for trade shows like E3 any more. Devs have their hands forced to show something before its ready to generate hype and interest. Its no wonder that there are downgrades between initial reveal and final release.
I see a future where games ARE announced 6 months to a year ahead of time using more modern formats, such as Nintendo Direct and State of Play.
Well, yeah.
I’d say so.
@ShogunRok I do wish this.
I'm in the I wish this was next gen camp. They are going to need to cut back in NPC AI, world physics and all sorts. Depending on console release dates I'm playing on PC or Next Gen
There are so many great games I need to play still including the entire Yakuza Series and the two TW3 expansions and this is without including all the titles coming this year, I want this to be delayed till next gen, I can wait.
Haven't they already talked about how they had to scale back how destruct-able the world was because of current gen hardware?
They're releasing the game a month or so before the new hardware lands. All of this could have been avoided.
@glassmusic This is on CDPR 100%, they knew what this hardware was capable of a while ago.
And this is why I'd never was gonna buy this on this gen consoles. I'll wait a year or so when they put out the Enhanced Keanu Reeves Edition of the game on PS5.
They should just make it new gen and stop trying to fit an apple into a banana shaped hole.
PS5! PS5! PS5!
@wiiware but there just will be a literal fraction of sales potential. If its a launch title that is next gen only you are looking at only a few million in sales in the first few months of release. Opposed to a few million in 1 day
Well.. Should I cancel my ps4 preorder collection edition and get the ps5 version instead?
@Ridwaano Wait till official confirmation, as CDPR will be stupid to make 130m+ potential customers pissed off but we will have to see.
I can see Cyberpunk 2077 being downgraded on current gen, but this article doesn't specify that the guy actually said it was the XB1 making the most issues.
@Nyne11Tyme Cdp can prioritize ps5 first and then downport it to ps4 later, I believe most of ps5/xbox2 users will be buying cyberpunk 2077 if the game ready for launch windows.
@David187 They can delay the ps4 version and focus on ps5/pc/xbox2 first, this game will sell gangbusters if it's available on next-gen launch windows.
@wiiware true. But its usually the other way around. You develop for base system with biggest install base and add bells and whistles to the next gen port (resolution, 4k packs etc.). I dont know full extent of development but i feel like to remove ray tracing and other next gen exclusive features would be more legwork than the other way around
I don't see the problem here. The game has a issue CDPR is working to fix it. I will have no issue buying a copy on PS4 when it is released. It could be a few years before CyberPunk 2077 shows up on PS5. You go ahead and wait I will play it when its released.
@QualityGeezer I can understand that. I will still get The Last of Us, because Death Stranding looked and played perfectly fine on a base PS4, so I don't expect anything less from Naughty Dog. Any game that comes out after TLOU2, may as well be a PS5 title for me.
It can't be easy when you have such 'weak' CPU's to get all the AI, the particle and physics effects as well as tell the GPU what to draw and where. Everything we have seen up to this point has been considered 'ambitious' for the hardware and now we are at the 'crunch' end, we are hearing that perhaps it was and now needs more work.
What CDPR also consider 'poor' performance may be a lot better than what other devs/publishers would consider 'poor'. Trying to get the game up to a standard they are 'comfortable' to release may be what is happening here - not that the game runs absolutely abysmally. It maybe that the game runs at an average 28fps and they are working to try and get to a more even 30fps (albeit with the odd dropped frame or 2 here and there) and not struggling to raise the frame rate from an average 20fps for example - we just don't know.
I still want to play games on next gen hardware sooner rather than later - especially games like Cyberpunk but as the consoles are not releasing until late this year, we have a choice to wait, if it does get a next gen release, or play on the hardware we have.
@BearsEatBeets GOW is an exclusive so all of the resources are used for one platform. This is why exclusives are better than multiplats. Nothing wrong with the hardware, CyberPunk is just a multiolat that has to spread its resources across 3 platforms. Notice TLoU2 abd GhostOT are not having this problem. Neither did Death Stranding. People keep ignoring these facts. TW3 was poorly optimized for the PS4.
@Octane it's a difficult time really the year of next gen because do u wait or do you play. Tbh it's no hassle for me to buy a game again on ps4 if it warrants it, I live in the moment so I know I cant wait for tlou and cyberpunk
@DonJorginho GOW is an exclusive that has an engine built specifically for PS4. CyberPunk is not. Major difference.
@GodGamer I agree 1000% but CDPR should have known these implications ages ago, poor planning on their part.
All they heve to do is to remove some puddles an ambient occlusion 😄
they will fix it for Xbox and downgrade it for ps4
@Rob_230 There are no downgrades, devs just show fake footage like Anthem and WatchbDogs. CD Red did the same with TW3. I keep telling you people this.
I wonder if the change in the gfx engine from 3rd person in Witcher 3 to first person has been a factor as well? Guess time will tell....
@GodGamer I merely used GoW as an example because of Cory's response and the available doc. Pretty much all games run into this, even first party games only working on one system. Hence why TLOU 2 also just had 3 month delay. And like you say having to get it optimized for different systems will exacerbate the issue.
I'm still getting it at launch and sure it will be a great game even if it doesn't look exactly like the early footage. And people wondered why they were reluctant to release that footage.
@gollumb82 "Pushsquare?" That's an odd way to spell "Digital Foundry."
@QualityGeezer Knowing it will run way better on PS5, and after patches even better. I can wait till the PS5 is out.
@Yogsoggoth
I see what you did there. While I appreciate what the Digital Foundry guys are doing, I don't care for anything else except knowing if the game runs at a decent framerate and looks good while doing it.
@DonJorginho They are more then double or triple the price though. 😉
I guess this community isn't used to the idea of seemingly "impossible ports".
Will it look as good as high-end PC footage? Nope.
Will it have some framerate hitches here and there? Yep.
Will the super-powered consoles have the better experience? More than likely.
Will 100% of the content still be there? Yep.
Will everyone here still flock to it like moths to a flame? Outlook looks good.
@DonJorginho Comparing a fan-less device like a mobile phone to a home console isn’t really straightforward.
As a rule of thumb adding a fan allows you to get about three times performance from the same component.
If this is true, I won't be surprised if this was the reason Dying Light 2 got delayed as well.
PS4 is not mentioned once guys, I know the western media are slanted towards MS but as a PS-centric site, it is worrying that you guys seem to be part of it.
It's not farfetched the og PS4 could also be holding back development but again that is NOT what was said.
@Rob_230 thats a good point on e3 and other similar events. It does encourage to show games early to create a buzz, but that buzz slowly turns away and you just feel like i want to play this and know you have to wait a year or so. I liked it when fallout 4 was announced and was released within 6 months if i remember correct. Yea hopefully it will be 6 months ish then release in a bit, maybe if sony carry on with their direct thing it might take preassure of developers thinking that they have to show games early. Maybe if sony was to do sony direct every 4 months or so.
and this my friends is why you wait and buy the ps5 version.
They really should just have it with all the bells and whistles and have it as a next gen release. Better than downgrading.
Another reason I'm not buying any post 2019 games on my ps4. Just play my back log and get these games on the ps5, doesn't matter to me.
I mean... that's not really surprising? If you take a look at the first demo that was pre alpha, there is so much stuff going on with a crap ton of crowds and lights, and all that. I bet you that PS4 and Xbox One are going to have their resolutions downgraded to 900p or maybe even 720p for Xbox.
It's funny how people take for granted their wishful thinking that the game is next gen only to have to get back down to Earth later with reality and common sense. Its typical.
CDPR could easily have fooled everyone and WatchDogged them (with the complicity of the press).
i guess this is part of the issue of having "mid gen refreshes"
if the XB1X and PS4 Pro wasn't a thing the game would have been made with the limitations of the base systems in mind instead of making it for the high end systems and then "downgrading" it for the base ones, which obviously hasn't worked in this case
they should just cancel the current game for current gen and make it for the next one instead
Amazed at all the people that seem to think this isn't the case with like, every delay, ever. Sure the PS5 version will run even better, obviously, but so will the PC version, etc.
@FullbringIchigo That really isn't how game development works. And that goes for both the "downgrading" and "just cancel it" parts.
@SegaBlueSky what so they can't turn around and say the PS4/XB1 version is cancelled and instead it's releasing on PS5 and Series X, yeah they would probably have to delay it again but surly the next gen systems will be able to run it better
as for downgrading i have said for ages that isn't how it's done but i have been told time and again by people on here that it IS how it's done so if it isn't, how is it done then?
@FullbringIchigo They could turn around and do that, but there would be serious repurcussions in terms of both financials and workload. Cancelling a game at this stage of development is an absolute last resort. If you think of all the different stakeholders and departments that are involved in a game launch, it paints a pretty clear picture of why it's avoided at all costs. Development is the obvious one, having all that wasted work and then suddenly changing to porting to a new console - which is not a simple task. Then there's all the marketing that has already taken place and that is locked in for launch - all subject to various contracts etc. Then there's sales and distribution agreements with potentially hundreds or even thousands of retailers, distribution partners etc. That's all just scratching the surface.
And downgrading, well it depends on the nature of the game and what the publishers/developer considers the lead platform. In this instance the lead platform will be PC as the game is cross-platform, so all console versions are going to be a compromise/"downgrade" in some way unless they're an exclusive designed from the ground up with that specific platform in mind. Console versions are designed for base hardware before improvements are made for the upgraded versions - if time/budget allows. Because it just doesn't always work out, hence why you see some games that don't have much in the way of improvements. The other way around just doesn't make sense and I don't work for CDProject obviously, I would be astounded if a dev/publisher of that size were foolish enough to hire producers and product managers so inexperienced or naive that they would make a basic error like that.
All of this isn't to say that the PS4/XBO aren't the problem - they obviously are. But it's extremely unlikely that they've started with Pro/XBO-X versions and worked backwards.
CDPR's games are PC-titles... This game is, all the Witchers are... They just are, on a technical level, and they feel like it. It's just the type of games they are and make, especially with the developer being so ambitious.
And because of that and the point in time and technology we are today, "CyberPunk" will be one of those titles that will have a "simplified" version on current consoles and a "full" version on the next consoles, while the PC will already have that from day one. - It's the same thing as what happened with "GTA 5", which is still really weird to even consider that it came out on PS3, which took a PS4 to basically be like the PC-version (even though, I know, the PC-version came later).
Other similar cases will be "TLoU2" and "Ghost of Tsushima", even though they will still look great on PS4 (and not be on PC). - Not to say that "CyberPunk" won't look at least solid on PS4, but it won't be up to its full potential. - One problem, for example, is the amount of memory... It will be one of those titles (like "RDR2") that recommends 12 GB of RAM available for PC (with the "norm" being 16 GB installed these days), and the PS4 only has 8 GB... So they will already have to have a way to stuff all of their dense, vertical world somewhere, not to even speak of all the character-models and what have you. And they'll certainly have a bunch of effects lowered or even disabled.
You're just not going to do this game justice running it on a PS4. At least it won't be a smooth ride. - I'd definitely make sure you get the digital download version onto a very fast and massive SSD, to at least counter any loading-issues there might be.
But again, this a PC-game and you're gonna need a PS5 to match that. Then you'll probably get ray-tracing and everything, but not the PS4 and Xbox One... They should probably not even get this game, but they were not gonna do that and it's too late now anyway.
@Ridwaano I would recommend that. - I recommended that to a friend... Well, you could of course keep the Collector's Edition and then just buy a PS5-version, then sell the PS4 copy. It might cost you a little money, but for console-players I think that's the way to go. Unless you just don't want the Collector's Edition and you can wait yet again a few more months.
Like I said in another comment; You won't do the game justice with a still-current console. I would recommend it on PC, ultimately, but the equivalent of a current PC is a PS5.
@BearsEatBeets well i just watched raising kratos, what an eye opener it was to actually see what they have to go through, although after finishing watching it i wanted to play god of war again only finished it on monday lol.
@ankehuber I dare bet money that there wont be a "PS5" version and instead a post-PS5 launch patch with graphical improvements for the console, similar to how many big games got PS4Pro patches.
I would not put it past most publishers to double-dip but the most I see these guys do is a year later offer a Game of The Year edition with all DLC and patches on disk, and perhaps a PS5 Optimized logo of some sort on the box.
Consoles delaying it for pc gamers Release now for PC, once it's more than 5 FPS release for console.
@Daleaf Glad you enjoyed it, I hope as many people as possible watch stuff like this to truly appreciate how complex game development is. There is a youtube channel called 'noclip' that has some great videos on game development as well, especially on the making of The Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn.
On one hand, this sucks if you had it all liked up for your PC so I feel bad for those guys. On the other hand thoug, I'm kind of glad all those games aren't relaxing during the same window anymore because I wanted to get them all, now I can just focus on final fantasy 7 and maybe Re 3.
@ShogunRok damn should be a PC/PS5/X exclusive then
@viciousarcanum all people do is s*** on the xbox if anything
Language please - Quintumply
@BearsEatBeets yea really enjoyed it, you think you have an idea of what goes into making a game but to actually see what they go through was quite an eye opener you definetaly got the vibe that a lot of arguments took place in making that game. Also thought the scene where they ask shannon about the sacrifces that went into making the game and she replies im not ready to answer that and shes holding back the tears was quite poiniant, and you truly got the feeling that a lot of sacrifices were made. Will check that out later cheers man. Also love ur username
@Elheart dare you to find any major publication/site that has criticised MS ever since the announcement of BC for Xbox One.
@Daleaf

@MicHaeL_MonStaR well I am going to buy the collection edition.. On ps4. And buy the ps5 edition later on
I can't see the logic here at all anymore. This is an absolutely mega-hyped blockbuster game that will be releasing in a gimped form on consoles just a few short months before the new machines are out. Even ever showing ps4/xbox one box art for this thing was a mistake.
I mean, at that point, it's going to be a PS5 game for me anyways
@Stu13
but from a business stand point why make it for next gen when there is a huge ps4 user base, granted i would of liked both versions to launch at same time, but they are out to make money at the end of the day and you can't honestly tell me you wouldn't do the samething if it was you?
I can see Cyberpunk 2077, TLOU 2, Ghost of Tshushima & Dying Light 2 being released with the next gen consoles. All of them are graphically demanding and may be a bit too much for even PS4 Pro and Xbox one X. A bit disappointing as I have pre-ordered Cyberpunk but more than happy to wait to play on next gen on release day .
Why I did CONTROL on PC. Obvious My PS4 was not going to play that well.
That is fine, It has done enough - just time for a PS5 upgrade
@chris730920 - I highly doubt TLoU 2 will have issues on even base hardware. Look at games like Horizon and GoW, both ran superb on regular PS4. It's pretty much guaranteed that Naughty Dog will follow suit.
@shigurui - I genuinely hope you are right and agree that Horizon, GoW and Death Stranding look amazing and run with limited issues. There has only been one launch exclusive announced for PS5 which is Godfall, it is rumoured that PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles will be on par with Hardware specs so the only way to convince users of which platform to buy (apart from being a fan) is the launch exclusive games. So TLOU2, Ghost of Tshushima, Dying Light 2 and Godfall, could tip the scale for Sony on launch with Microsoft only offering Halo Infinite and Senua's Saga, so it makes business sense to keep the Sony exclusives back for launch.
It doesn't sound implausible, but frankly, nothing sells a reader on the credibility of a news source like the phrase "a supposed insider".😏 As for confidently speaking on camera as a factor in these matters... politicians, anyone?
Hmm. Think this news will be bad for the game. So CDPR made this game for high end rigs, downgraded it for PS5/XBSX and are double downgrading it for PS4/XB1. That means that people will wait for PS5/XBSX release so CDPR will miss out on 150+ possible sales on PS4/XB1. And by the time the sales of PS5/XBSX take off a few years after the respective consoles release, this game will be in second hand stores and on ebay so CDPR will not get the sales. I also agree that this game might not live up to all the hype surrounding it. I was looking forward to it but after this I think I will wait until the player reviews come in, And definitely NOT get it on PS4.
the game was announced in 2012, and the first teaser trailer was in 2013. so the game has been in development even before the PS4/XB1 launched, and while it's true developers generally get better at optimising for console platforms further into its lifecycle, the specs of those systems are a fixed resource which has been known all along - so seems a bit foolhardy to design for several iterative generations of hardware later and then be surprised it runs like crap.
As long as it's all fixed on release, day 1 for me
It will run badly on 7 year old hardware. You will be fine on a PRO
I do not have a PRO so got it on PC. Only so much you can “optimize”
Well they're hardly likely to come out and say it's been delayed because the Xbox One S is a piece of s*** with its stupid esram setup and the GPU of a toaster
Language please - Quintumply
@FullbringIchigo What a utter nonsense why would you throw out all your hard work? Games have too to through changes and you always get too have some kind of downgrades or changes. I really dont care that much asnlong as the game looks good and is fun ill get it.
@Agramonte Last of Us 2 still looks great. 😆
I don't think I ever expected it to run poorly on anything. Although it looks very impressive it's hardly much better than other AAA titles of recent years... Just different.
May you have many hours of fun hideously mutilating, extorting and bloodgeoning the citizens of Night City ... I guuueess!??? 😟🤮
Will end up running fine on console, you see with things this popular there is a lot of digging and it seems people have just discovered that optimisation is a thing.
In all fairness I'd rather have a finished game then a broken experience. Also gives me to finish of the hunt and all dlc. For tw3. So tell CD project I'm going happy buying it for the ps5 as I did with gtav. For the ps4 release. Just got my platinum for days gone last night. That drift trophy was easy just equip tyre type 1 then engine 4/5 for full power and drift in a huge donut not small donut and boom my plat trophy popped. Happy man.
@Flaming_Kaiser CONTROL and Sekiro "looked good" on all the trailers. Once in motion, things started to fall apart on my regular PS4.
I mean, I am not saying they not worth playing (I am playing TLOU2 on Day 1). Just on some games people need to tame their expectations.
@Agramonte the Last of Us 2 does look more then good it looks fantastic. 😃
@Flaming_Kaiser Agree, it does "look fantastic"... just not sure I can claim the same for both my examples - so need to stick with "good"
@BearsEatBeets I love that guy he is insane.
@Agramonte The Last of Us 2 looks mindblowing i can wait collectors edition preorder almost fully paid. But im happy quite easy i can have fun with nice (6 ratings) looking games. Dragon Quest Heroes 2 200 hours and i got stuck at 95% with the trophies because it wont give me last weapons... Its so annoying i cant stand the game anymore.😆
@TheBuzz And this is why i wait for the reviews. Thank you in advance Pushsquare. 😉
@Flaming_Kaiser
@Flaming_Kaiser wow nice you got the collectors edition. I have the Special Edition on pre-order - I think that Art Book is going to be amazing.
200hrs?... well either way - you got your money worth 👍
If they only released it on next Gen consoles people would save money and go buy the newest hardware just to be able to play the game! Especially if it looks 10 times better than last gen! They worry about sales but they would help sell the next generation of consoles AND graphics cards it's a win for everyone! Sure they'll be some who won't be able to afford the newest gen but hey, PS4 has some great exclusives and will be cheaper so those still stuck in PS3 era might be able to finally move up one again. But anyway, they think just because there are alot of last gen out there already that they don't think a whole lot of people will move to the new hardware but everything will be backwards compatible with last gen so there's going to be bunches who make the move.
@Agramonte Believe me mate dont waste your time they made the trophies a timesink the game was fun for a while but i should have stopped way earlier. The game is fun but its too many copy and paste missions, too much filler, the AI with hard bosses 🤬🤬🤬🤬.
How nice is it when the healer says nah im not going too heal anymore i know we are going strong but nah.

And please for the love of god. If you want me too get my final special weapon just make some character specific quest or boss. Instead of letting me grind a boss hoping for a drop or letting grind money for hours and hours.
Thats why i look at games like assasins creed with 40% gameplay and 60% fluff and think why did i waste my time. 😋
And then i played games like Heavenly Sword 8 hours, Gone Home 2/3 hours and i still love them even if they are short they respect my time.
Valkyria Chronicles a lot longer but the game was perfect no fluff just a great story, great characters no time wasters. And somehow is still love RPG's.
I dont mind it if it takes a lot of time. But i hate it when they use collectables /boring quests/ useless back tracking/ copy and paste missions for unlocks/ fetch quests. 😩
Look at Horizon Zero Dawn i wanted too collect stuff too find out about the story and that gameplay. The faces where not perfect all the time but everything was such a blast the 100 hours flew by. 😃
My apologies for the horrible amount of text. 😉
