Fans of The Outer Worlds rejoice! The highly rated role-playing title is getting story DLC in 2020, developer Obsidian Entertainment has revealed in an end-of-year blog post.
DLC for the game has long been rumoured, but we haven't had concrete confirmation until now. The aforementioned blog post reads: "To all of those who voted for us in The Game Awards, you are all fantastic and we are so grateful for your support. The reception to The Outer Worlds has been unbelievable to see, and even just being nominated means a lot. However, the journey isn't over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year! Details will be made available at a later date."
It'll be interesting to see when this DLC actually lands. As we all know, 2020 is already looking incredibly busy -- especially February through April -- so hopefully this supposed expansion finds room to breathe.
This news has got us pondering a new run in The Outer Worlds, but what about you? Would you be interested in DLC? Pick a dialogue choice in the comments section below.

Oh whoops, I uninstalled so hopefully I can get my save back since it was through Game Pass PC and I have no idea if cloud saves are a thing.
Ill wait for the GOTY edition in that case!
This is outstanding news. I was so not ready for this game to end...
Will it be on Playstation? Because i know microsoft bought the company so i dont know. Be great if it is because its the best new ip rpg in a long time.
@TribalRivals it is entirely speculation on my part, but I'd expect them to keep supporting all versions of the game, and make the franchise XBox exclusive from the 2nd game onward.
Also, the Steam and Switch versions will be released in 2020, so I guess they will keep working on all versions for the DLC (fanny that those 2 are the only platforms I could play it on at the moment...I'll have to wait lol)
Playing through it at the moment. I feel a bit indifferent over it so far, but will need to play more before deciding on if i want play beyond the final mission.
Ok, now I'm not sure if I want to buy it now or later with DLC included 🤔
So im assuming the publishing agreement had dlc planned for multiplat before MS acquisition. That makes me happy
Ecstatic. Feel like there’s a lot more to explore. Hopefully they’re chunky. Going to do a speed run play through but I’ll leave my next long play for DLC
Yes, I was hoping for some more story. One of my favourite games of 2019.
Playing it now yes love this game
GOTY edition it is for me then while I'm waiting The Witcher 3 I'll be finnaly starting tomorrow thank God
@LaJettatura Brilliant! I was worried I'd lost my file forever.
Guess holding out on this game was a wise decision.
Gonna wait out until ''GOTY'' or ''Complete'' edition drops in.
Excellent. This was one of fave games of 2019.
This game runs like garbage on my PS4 Pro. I have no idea what's going on, but I'm getting these horrible stutters. I've uninstalled twice and deleted any save data that I don't need.
Anyone have any tips? None of my other games have this unusual stuttering issue, and I know it runs pretty much perfectly for other people...
Ohhhh yes! One of my favourite games this year.
@clvr MS doesn't do exclusives anymore. Their business model is focused on player count so releasing on as many platforms as possible and requiring an Xbox Live account in many cases is their ideal method of delivery now. If Halo Infinite isn't an exclusive, there's no way The Outer Worlds 2 will be.
Topic at hand, it's good I chose to wait on this game. Now I'll get the GOTY for $20 next summer during the drought season.
I just started this a couple of days ago and I’ve loved what I’ve played so far. If it stays this entertaining I’ll gladly get the DLC.
@Nintyfan that is a very fair point, and I think one of two things they could do with their "new" exclusive franchises like this one and Hellblade.
As you said, I fully expect them to drop them on PC too just like Halo, but I doubt they'd publish them on PS and Ninty as well (just like Halo). It wouldn't be impossible, but I just think they're not gonna give away every franchise of theirs.
