Falcom Trails of Cold Steel The Legend of Heroes

Falcom seems to be a rather busy company these days. Between its development of brand new games in The Legend of Heroes franchise and its desire to make sure that its role-playing titles are brought West, the developer's really kicked into high gear over the course of this console generation.

It's not slowing down anytime soon, either. During its latest financial briefing, Falcom revealed that the next Trails game is set to release in Japan by September 2020. To be clear, this isn't Trails of Cold Steel V as far as we know, as that overall story arc comes to a close in Trails of Cold Steel IV, which launched in Japan last year. In other words, this is expected to be the beginning of a new saga, or perhaps a kind of Cold Steel epilogue.

Speaking of Trails of Cold Steel IV, it still doesn't have a release window here in the West, although Falcom has all but confirmed that it's going to be localised at some point. We imagine that we'll hear more next year, especially now that Trails of Cold Steel III is out over here.

Back to Falcom's financial call, the company also wants to bring more of its older games to PlayStation 4. This could mean that The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki ports could be closer than ever. The developer expressed interest in porting both games to PS4 back in July. Of course, Falcom's other properties, such as Ys, are also worthy of consideration.
