Ghost of Tsushima’s presentation is so impressive that as far back as last year many pundits were pondering whether the title’s E3 2018 demo was running on next-gen hardware or not. The likelihood at this stage is that the Sucker Punch developed Feudal affair will launch on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, similar to, say, the Nintendo Switch’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
And speaking with Famitsu magazine, Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has poured fuel on that fire, admitting that each time he plays the title he’s “overwhelmed” by the graphics. “When I play it, it’s so beautiful that my hands stop,” he said, as translated by The PlayStation Brahs. “There are many scenes that make Japanese scenery 1.2 times more beautiful.”
It’s not confirmation of a PS5 version by any stretch – the title’s likely to look stunning on Sony’s existing system as well – but would you bet against some kind of next-gen version at this point? It’s been over a year since we last saw the release in action, and our guess is that it will re-emerge when the Japanese giant’s ready to showcase its new hardware next year.

I love his specificity, not twice as beautiful, not 10x, 1.2x as beautiful. Absolute madman, he is.
Absolutely getting a cross-gen release.
Sucker Punch was very good at having a real purpose for the graphics in Second Son, more of a purpose frankly than most any other studio that makes a game with great graphics. I have no doubt from the little we've seen that the graphics in this will be used in a way that makes them standout more than other games. There's a reason people are saying this looks better than The Last of Us 2, it's in part because they're better used here.
Sounds good, but it'll take more than just good graphics - hopefully it's packing heat!
I can already hear the sonic boom coming from the fan breaking the sound barrier when playing this game.
Not that there is anything controversial or anything, but any article that is sourced from another that had to be translated, I can't take at face value any more.
It’d be nice to judge it myself.
And I thought Nioh and Sekiro where beautiful wow 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
Why do peoppe keep claiming games will be crossgen? First Death Stranding, then TLoU2 and now GoT. This game will not be crossgen. Sony never does crossgen outside of LBP3 and MLB. The game will be out before PS5 anyway. It will be a May-June release.
@GodGamer what do we win if you’re wrong? I’m absolutely willing to set reminders on my calendar and stuff
Best looking game on ps4 next to detroit become human god of war .spiderman.and the last of us 2.word up son
Wow..that looks absolutely gorgeous!!
Ghost of Tsushima is stunningly beautiful, no doubt. I just hope the swordplay is on the same level as the visuals.
The swordfights looked a little rough mechanically last I saw the game, but one thing is for certain that Sucker Punch know how to create fun gameplay. It has stiff competition when games like Sekiro have such amazing gameplay.
People doubt SP?
I trust the gameplay is going to be even better than ISS
Game scenery looks to be exceptional.
Wouldn't PS4 and ps5 be the same disc/digital version?...ps5 will just up graphics and stuff like going from med range card to a high end card on pc,surely devs are coding this in...
@deepspace5d I don't think this game can be compared to Sekiro. This game is aiming for the mainstream audience unlike From Software games. So I don't think the combat will be that deep like Sekiro but will be easy enough even for the casual gamers to enjoy it.
What's the need for cross-gen release anyway? Assuming all the chat about PS5 being back compatted with PS4, you'll be able to play it on PS5 anyway.
@IamNotPerfect
Yes I agree, I didn’t mean that I think they will be the same gameplay-wise. I have played all of the Infamous games, and I am assuming Ghosts of Tsushima will be much more friendly than Sekiro or Fromsoft games in general.
But the excellence of swordplay and execution in Sekiro, I am concerned that Ghosts may be compared to it somewhat. Because it feels so good in Sekiro, and visually they look like they are in similar settings.
I will be honest the combat looked janky in my opinion last trailer I remember seeing for Ghosts. I would hope and I assume that gameplay will get polished and refined considerably before release, and I am eager to see the final product.
@kyleforrester87 We are just getting a remaster like the Last of Us. And the pride that you where right and someone on the internet was wrong.
Why do interviews with Yosh remind me of the new AT&T “okay is not okay” commercial?
Translator: “My Dutch is okay.”
Executive: “Okay??? Tell them we’re flexible.”
Translator: [in Dutch] “This man is very bendy.”
@Flaming_Kaiser i’ll take it
Certainly was a great looking game and very impressive for the generation and its limited hardware capability. It shows the quality of the developers and loved the way they captured the world - the fight at the end with the leaves looked impressive!!
That is stunning! This game seems right up my street (though I’ve been mainlining Yakuza series recently so the western voices in this video seem somewhat incongruous!)
Most anticipated PS4 (or 5) game for me.
Looks perfect!
I definitely want to play it 4k & 60 fps on ps5
Why do people keep thinking this going be a next gen title for. when the game probably going to be out before the next consoles is even out. I mean the game has been in development since 2014 so it been in development for about 5 years already sucker punch games usually have a 3 to 4 years development lifecycle.
My most anticipated game. I'd be very surprised if this isn't on PS5. It looks beautiful and what they have talked about in terms of design philosophy sounds incredible. And the sword fighting seems to be a bit more Arkham inspired. I honestly can't wait for this one. It's going to be incredible.
Really looking to find out more on the game play mechanics, especially the combat. I'm hoping there's going to be quite a bit of depth to it.
Isn't this the same gameplay video they showed awhile back?
I hope the game is actually good though. I mean we all know how infamous second son was ( not a bad game but it was definitely Rushed with no content and the horrible evil playthrough was just cringey and painful) still I hope this will turn out fine since they've been working on it for a few years now
@DrClayman see my commemt further up the page...really don't understand why people seem to think that games like Tsushima might have a PS4 and ps5 version
@JoeBlogs oooo I remember you saying that, man you got him good
@JoeBlogs fair enough. Lol if it still came out this year though
@Jaz007 Second Son looks better than many 2019 games, no doubt about it. But I think it aged very badly in terms of gameplay. I played it few days ago for the first time and it has been one of the weakest experience I have ever met on PS4. Same strategy against every enemy, no real difference between powers, easy even on the hardest difficulty level, eye-rolling humour...
I'll be very cautious about their new game...
As beautiful as it looks, and as thrilled as I was by the reveal... given the gameplay they've shown so far, I'm yet to be convinced that it's going to be anything other than a relatively basic hack-n-slash. And if it is, I'll pass.
PS5 will be backwards compatible - there, it will be released on PS5 by default. On a serious note, they can always release a patch later to take advantage of PS5s capabilties. Dev kits are out, I'd be surprised if they hadn't loooked into this already.
@GodGamer I’ll bet my right bollock this will release on PS5 and so will cyberpunk and Final Fastasy 7 remake.
@Kunfoostu You mean a port? That is not being crossgen.
@kyleforrester87 I won't be wrong, but you would win nothing lol.
@JoeBlogs because I lost my left one on my last bet 😂
@GodGamer unsure about cyberpunk that will prolly be a port... extremely confident ghost and ff7 remake will be built for PS5. They aren’t making them games to sell specifically for the PS4. These are game of the year titles and big console sellers. Cyberpunk obviously is too but it’s not there baby so they’ll get what there given to some extent with that IMO
@DeepSpace5D tbh it looks really good plus lots of gore so i love it already
@Jay767 sony announced the game was ps5 too fool
@Dashaun89 no they didn’t.
@Jay767 lmao yes they did fool
@Jay767 trust me i done my research on all these exclusives
