Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition was first announced at last year's Tokyo Game Show, alongside a vague 2019 release date. And aside from a brief appearance at E3 a couple of months back, we've seen very little of the remaster, to the point where we were wondering whether it would soon be shadow dropped.

As it happens, Square Enix isn't ready to roll this one out just yet. With its latest trailer (which we've embedded above), the publisher has confirmed that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Remastered Edition is no longer launching this year. Instead, it's pinned down a 23rd January, 2020 release date.

We're not really sure what's taking so long, but it is starting to sound like a robust remaster. It's adding new endgame dungeons, new character skins, and new equipment, as well as rerecorded voice work.
