Are you still enjoying Bend Studio's massive PlayStation 4 exclusive, Days Gone? The developer has been keeping the open world survival game fresh with a steady stream of updates, bringing new features and challenges to attempt. In a PlayStation Blog post today, the game's director Jeff Ross has outlined when we can expect the next big update, as well as what's in it.
On 13th September - that's next Friday - Days Gone will receive another free game update. The headline addition this time is New Game Plus mode. This can be played on saves that have finished the storyline named 'I'm Never Giving Up'. You'll be able to play NG+ with all your "weapons, bike upgrades, NERO boosters, skills, recipes, encampment trust and credits, collectibles, and Trophy progress". Sounds like a solid addition that should keep players hooked even longer.
If you want a really tough challenge, this patch will also add two new difficulty modes: Hard II and Survival II. There are new trophies to earn across New Game Plus and these extra tough difficulties. The trophy hunters among you will have a real fight on your hands for 100 per cent.
Will you be playing these new additions to Days Gone? Freak out in the comments below.

Glad I waited before starting a new playthrough. Survival will be a little easier with upgrades. Maybe get some patches from challenges
Well than i finally have a reason to try survival difficulty if the new game+ will suport it.
not that i've played it, but if you had this from launch, i reckon there's been between 200-300Gb of downloads for updates for this game, already. bend really need to optimise its update process and not replace a quarter of the game each time, because that's a ridiculous amount of bandwidth for one title. i know horizon zero dawn had a lot of patches, but they rarely went over a few hundred Mb.
So I'm guessing its going to require 3 playthroughs to get 100% completion, unless somehow the new difficulties trophies stack with survival. Im screwed!!! Lol .. i loved the game, i really looking forward to playing it in a harder mode, but it would be a lot more fun if they fix those ***** frame rate problems
@leucocyte This is precisely the reason why I have parked this game, because I am sick of it. I've harped on about this before, but as someone in the minority who still has standard ADSL broadband because of the area I live in, getting 12-18GB patches every damn week has put me off playing the game.
As a side note, this addition of extra difficulties is just the laziest content I have seen in a long time. I'd argue that it isn't even content, it's just yet another mode for the same thing for the sake of another trophy. Not for me. Unless this spate of enormous updates ceases, I will likely never pick this game up again.
Playing through it now but Im not superimpressed with it. I will probably finish it once and then sell it.
great support on this game I hope they have a story expansion coming would happily pay for it & please Sony get Part 2 in development for PS5 ASAP.
@David187 look at the sales #s and success of the first game , im pretty sure there's already a bunch of the bend studio s staff working on part 2 while others maintain n update this one. And of course it'll be a ps5 game considering how long it takes to make a new game
@leucocyte I’m not sure how the updates work for this game, but I just looked on my PS4 storage, and Days Gone comes in at 57.42gb - that’s obviously including the base game. I was surprised by this myself, as you say there have been many updates, some above 10gb. Maybe someone else can explain?
I have enjoyed Days Gone a lot more that I expected to, to the point that I almost have the platinum trophy. I still love the world that Bend have created, and am really tempted by NG+, especially with my arsenal of great guns I have now! But there are just too many other games coming out soon to justify going on a second play through. Maybe next year.
I started again on Survival difficulty after completing and getting the Platinum, but didn't get that far before taking a break. I'll restart when NG+ hits, as I thoroughly enjoyed it.
@SaucyBrotato They have been adding weekly challenges, already added survival difficulty and now a new game plus plus two more difficulties and you call that lazy? Gamers got to cry about something i guess.
@JayDub Challenges aside, yes I do. Extra difficulties is not extra content. It's adding something to the game which probably requires very little effort by the Devs aside from a spot of programming to alter health pools and whatnot. If you class NG+ as extra content, then we have very different opinions on content.
@SaucyBrotato "Probably requires little effort"........... Stopped reading after that.
Got this game recently as a gift and gotta say.... loving it! And I'm definitely loving the bike driving mechanic more then I thought I would. Bravo Sony Bend on making a quality sp game!
