There's having a game trailer leak online, and then there's having a work-in-progress trailer get out. That's exactly what's happened with Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 3, or as it's now known, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville.
The above video shows a reveal trailer, probably due for its debut at Gamescom, and it's not even finished. There are storyboards in place of artwork, file names onscreen, and a section with temporary game footage. Most of the trailer is in place, but this is most definitely not meant to be for public consumption.
We imagine this weed will be pulled pretty soon, but now that it's out there, more mirrors will inevitably emerge online shortly. If all else fails, you'll likely see the finalised version of the trailer during Gamescom in a couple of weeks.

Hyped for this game. Put too many hours in 1 and 2. Hope EA doesn’f F up the ingame economy this time.
What about it is not finished? I don't get it.
@naruball Did you watch the video?
@Quintumply yes.
@darkswabber Your concerns are well-founded from what I've played of it. No more card packs. Single item loot drops that cost an eyebrow-raising amount of currency. As someone who played a lot of 1 and 2, I definitely noticed changes to the reward system to make it grindier, less rewarding, and ripe for microtransactions. The rest was fun though.
@naruball There are file names popping up on screen, placeholder images, and “temp game footage” used towards the end. It’s not the finalised trailer
@RBMango are the variants behind paywalls? Or however variants work in this game?
I actually didn’t mind the card packs since I knew I was getting a character every few matches with the 75k pack.
@Quintumply Yes, but they are minor issues at best. The trailer will be pretty much the same. The title suggests that it's in considerably worse state.
Cool trailer, even as a WIP.
But suspect the game will be riddled with microtransactions, so nope for me!
As someone who works in post production, it was interesting to see every so often "TGA" (targa files) would appear overlaying the mp4 video. i'm guessing QC fixes for those particular frames.
@Stragen8 I'm not 100% sure, because I only had a small amount of time with it. However, there didn't seem to be any loot drop system that gave you a full set of a character variant. Just pieces of a set, and even those are mixed in with emotes and other less interesting cosmetic stuff. And the rewards are no longer divided by what side you're on. If you're playing as a plant, you could still end up with a reward for a zombie.
Granted, it's still in development and EA could change it, but what I saw makes me a tad nervous.
@naruball The final trailer may well be much the same, but the fact remains that what's been leaked online is an unfinished version.
@Quintumply sure, sure.
It's anthem all over again the CGI in that game didn't even give what it showed
@RBMango They now implement them later too evade the ratings. Look at Activision Blizzard and CTR.
@Flaming_Kaiser No doubt. EA did the same thing with the last Garden Warfare.
