Spyro the Dragon is gliding into Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, as we've known for a while, but Activision has now lifted the lid on the upcoming Grand Prix. Called Spyro and Friends, the latest seasonal event coming to the colourful kart racer sees the two platforming heroes cross paths.
From 30th August, you'll be able to unlock the purple dragon himself, as well as purchase other Spyro characters like Hunter and Gnasty Gnorc. The new track, named Spyro Circuit, will become available to all players, and the screenshots over on PlayStation Blog are looking great.
As you can see in the above image, there's typically plenty to unlock via challenges and more to buy with Wumpa Coins from the Pit Stop. Whatever your feelings are on the controversial microtransactions, it looks like Beenox has put a lot of effort into this crossover content.

I skipped over the Back N Time prix, but it looks like I'll be diving into this one.
We.Want.Knack!!!!
(ok, I want Knack)
@Deadlyblack Yeah, I did too. I was pretty burnt out after the first Grand Prix, but I'll definitely want the Spyro characters.
Hopefully the online is better now.
This looks good, however I can't support Activision for putting microtransactions into a kids game. Oh well back to Team Sonic Racing I go.
What I didn't realise I could do is pay Wumpa to fill up the nitro bar AFTER the GP had finished, that's pretty useful, but I realise this is where the micro's are going to come in. I like Spyro, but where is N Brio and Koala Kong?! They have complete nobodies like GEARY yet don't have N Brio (even though his face appears in Cortex Castle, so they have at least acknowledged his existence).
Should be quick enough to get to the end of the bronze tier and unlock Spyro, and I have enough coins saved up to buy the other new characters. Other than that, I'll just try out the new race track on each mode, then I'll be done with this grand prix.
Looks pretty good, shame about there not being Elora or Bianca... Plus looks like the datamine of Ripto and the Sorceress being in this was dumied out content or just to throw people off
At this point I'm waiting to see if a complete addition is released further down the line. Knowing how much Activision likes bleeding blood out of stones, I'd say it's pretty likely.
Looks cool Wouldn't mind a R&C themed track and R&C characters to but as SONY sold off Crash(WORSE THING THEY HAVE EVER DONE) :-/ we won't get one which is a shame
Is the Grand Prix part of the game or do you need to buy it? I don't own the game so I don't know how it works.
@MasonMinePlayz It's the Online option and is all free (once you've PS Plus).
